Bunyan Pro is the synthesis of Bunyan, the last face Eric Gill designed for hand setting in 1934 and Pilgrim, the machine face based on it, issued by British Linotype in the early 1950s — the most popular Gill text face in Britain from its release until well into the 1980s. Gill’s last face doesn't date itself anywhere near as obviously as Gill’s other serif faces, which were all really products of their time, heavily influenced by the richly ornamental and constantly changing aesthetic trends of the interwar period. When compared to Gill’s previous work, Bunyan seems like a revolution in the way he thought and drew. It’s as if he was shrugging off all heavy burden of what was popular, and going back to the basics of older standards. Bunyan had no bells and whistles, doesn't risk functionality with contrasts that are too high or too low, and didn't venture far outside the comfortable oldstyle rhythm Gill grew up with. By interbellum standards, this was utter austerity, a veritable denial of deco excess. Surprisingly, even without all the cloying trivialities, Bunyan still stood indisputably as an aesthetically pleasing, space saving design that could have been made only by Eric Gill. Bunyan Pro comes in three weights and their italics. The main font is intended for use between 8 and 14 points. The medium and the bold are great for emphasis but also have good merit in larger sizes, so can make effective display types as well. We tried to keep the best features of the handset (Bunyan) and machine (Pilgrim) versions while building a text face that can function in today’s immersive reading media. Deciding on which useful letterpress features to preserve for aesthetic importance was hell on our eyeballs — which lead to complex and painstaking ways of ironing out irregularities and inconsistencies related to metal technologies, in order to provide something with authenticity. Hello! Let me introduce Cohen – a handwritten font named in memory of the great poet and singer Leonard Cohen. On the day he passed away I did my routine calligraphy practice and wrote a part of his song 'Night Comes On'. You may see this work in presentation pictures, and after time I designed a font based on this calligraphy. Cohen signature font is perfect for logos, branding, web, blog headlines, invitations, magazine and book design, product packaging – or for any text on postcards and on your favorite photos. Cohen includes: a standard set of characters with wide multilingual support: Western-, Central- and Eastern-European, Baltic, Turkish, Latin-type Africans, and Asian (94 languages in total) two additional character sets: lowercase letters with alternates shapes and lowercase letters with a little end-swash - for the position at the end of a word 39 ligatures for double letters and frequent combinations Cohen has a large number of embedded context-dependent auto-replacement features that give the text a natural, handwritten look and correct inharmonious combinations of letters. These features work well in many apps (even simple ones like Notepad/TextEdit), and if you need to customize their application – you could use programs that support OpenType features (for example, Adobe apps or CorelDraw). Hutsulyandiya 2D family fonts comprise folk ornaments found on Hutsul ceramics of the mid 19th to early 20th centuries. Hutsulshchyna is an ethnic region in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains where folk art and indigenous culture preserve up to nowadays. All images are to the maximum approximated folk prototypes. Joost Schmidt?s (1893?1948) name is undoubtedly connected with monolinear condensed letters of geometric appearance ? his unfinished draft of a stencil alphabet, constructed on grid paper in 1930, is much lesser known. These modular shapes simply consist of half circles, quarter circles and square strokes with half-round terminals. From just six original letterforms (a, b, c, d, e, g), Flavia Zimbardi completed Schmidt?s draft and extended it to a full character set for contemporary use, adding upper case letters and different figure sets including old-style. Joschmi overcomes legibility issues usually associated with this stencil style, with special attention to the design of white space. So, without further ado, let me introduce the straight man to Revla Sans's buffoon - Revla Sans Text. It represents a complete overhaul of Revla Sans. The bounciness has been removed and details reined in, all for the purpose of optimizing the fonts for use in longer runs of text. 'Text' is perhaps a strong word here; you're not going to be setting novels in this typeface. It still retains the charm of the original, and could well be used in display settings.
