I used to be a tour guide and spent a lot of time in Asia. One thing that I really liked, was having noodles, ANY kind of noodles, for breakfast! Breakfast Noodles is a very uncomplicated headline font: I made it while seriously renovating our ‘new’ home (a fixer upper farm), which means that this particular font was made over a period of almost 3 months… It wasn’t exactly a letter at a time, but close. I will try and make the next font in, say, under two months… Hopefully! In the meantime, enjoy this one!

Kufi Mutamathil is an Arabetic (extended Arabic) typeface design with heavy Arabic Kufi calligraphy accent, both on a single letter level and in an overall text look and feel. The Kufi Mutamathil typeface design underlines this calligraphy style flexibility and openness through visualizing a very legible Mutamathil design with Kufi shapes. Bonning is a Roman face full of the spirit of the 1920s. It was inspired by a (real)estate agent's For Sale board seen in an old sepia photograph from that era and combines visual flair and period with good clear legibility. A range of Opentype features including alternate forms, old style numbers and fractions, as well as discretionary and standard ligatures are included. Three weights are offered, including a shadowed black form are offered, all in a choice of three widths. It's the ideal face for signage with a period feel, as well as posters, headings and feature paragraphs.

Aladdin Black is the 3rd member of our Aladdin Bold Font Family. This new style is extra bold and slightly rounded on the outsides of the glyphs. It is fat, fancy, fearless, forward, devilish, heavy, and stylized. Aladdin Bold was my first font introduced in 2012. I've always felt there were possibilities of adding styles to this family and something triggered the decision, so...here it is. I took much time deliberating over many of the finer details in this version of Aladdin and I hope the 'devil is in the details' for whoever decides to try on Aladdin Black.

I generally refer to our typefaces as ‘graphic’ rather than typographic. By that I mean their starting points are usually ways of constructing shapes and systems of shapes. As with other Alias typefaces, Sabre has stone and wood cut letterforms as a starting point. What is interesting about lettercutting is the connection between shape and material. These beautifully crafted letterforms have a particular sharpness which reflects, of course, how they were made. The idea of constructing letters from a kit of parts we first explored in early fonts Elephant and Factory. These are different in that they were very much grid-based, with a geometric structure. For Sabre I also had Fred Smeijers’ stencil construction drawings in mind. These show how a set of components can be the basis for a crafted, elegant typeface. Sabre is quite a loose interpretation of this idea. Sabre’s graphic shape means it works well at large sizes, with a dramatic, angular impact. Its aim is to be typographic enough to function for blocks of small-size text too.

I like Ravens. In fact, I like them so much that I have a tattoo of a Haida raven! Ravenheart was more or less modelled on my Qilin font, but it is completely different. It is scary and inky, but it has a certain flair as well. A bit mystical, a bit evil, but I am sure you’ll find many uses for it. Comes with a fluttering of diacritics.

Crypt is a seemingly lovely font that will look good in just about any design. But if you take a closer look, then Crypt is actually quite a scary font: it has jagged edges and a sinister undertone, making the letters jump from your computer and eat you alive! Whoohahaha…!! No, it won’t eat you, I’m just kidding. I just threw that in for some dramatic effect in an otherwise quite boring piece of text. Use Crypt for book covers, posters, product packaging and magazines.
