In 2022, we decided to look at TT Trailers again, improving and expanding the font. In the new TT Trailers, we expanded the character set, corrected the contours, and improved the technical content. We have added extended Latin and Cyrillic characters, new symbols, and additional sets of numbers. The number of glyphs in one style has increased from 1081 to 1242. The inclined styles were long-awaited. The italics in TT Trailers are as eccentric as the upright fonts. We added italics to the variable font, so the new font changes along two axes at once, weight and slant. From the technical point of view, TT Trailers has become more modern and correct, and the number of OpenType features has increased from 29 to 42. We have added new alternative versions of glyphs and created a large number of localized features. There are 19 styles in TT Trailers: 9 upright, 9 italic and 1 variable font.
  17. Madera Variable by Monotype, $229.99
Malou Verlomme’s Madera is a typeface made strictly for graphic designers, created as an indispensable type toolbox that can meet the needs of both print and digital environments. Verlomme has drawn on his extensive experience creating bespoke type for major brands, and Madera is a “typographic synthesis” of this work. Although designed as a restrained sans serif, the typeface has some punchy personality – with sharpened apexes that inject flavour into the design, particularly in the darker weights and when set at all caps. Madera sits alongside fellow geometric designs such as Proxima Nova, Gotham or Avenir, offering a straight-talking tone of voice but with some extra bite. If you’re a large corporation, with a typeface being used in many different environments you want something that's just the right balance of visibility and legibility to sustain an extensive amount of communication.” “The design is very solid but it doesn’t go out of its way to attract attention,” explains Verlomme. “It still has a fair amount of warmth and personality, in a very understated manner. The Madera typeface family has 32 fonts: Upright, Condensed and Italics. It is available in OpenType CFF and TTF fonts formats. Each typeface contains over 650 glyphs with extensive Western, Central and Eastern European language support. It also supports OpenType typographic features like alternatives, ligatures and fractions. 21. Artusi by Zetafonts, $39.00
Pellegrino Artusi was a celebrated Italian food writer, who is credited with the creation of one of the most influential cookbooks in the history of Italian cuisine. Taking inspiration from his legacy, Francesco Canovaro decided to work on a typographic homage to the delicacy and finesse of Italian traditional cuisine. Aptly named Artusi, the typeface is an enchanting combination of traditional Italian style, contemporary refinement and a playful touch of innovation. It is a transitional serif typeface with both text and display versions, developed on a wide range of seven weights and including a huge range of alternates, OpenType features and ligatures. Each weight of Artusi works like a different course in a balanced meal. Lighter weights are our starters, with their high contrast between thicks and thins, delicate curves, balanced proportions and subtle spiky serifs. The main course are naturally the regular and bold weights, where traditional Italian old style is enriched with a peppery kick of modern details. For dessert, the heavy weights offer luscious curves, opulent calligraphic swashes and eye-catching details, suitable for packaging and logos. When it comes to typography, let Pellegrino Artusi’s legacy inspire you. From packaging to web pages, Artusi typeface will bring a feeling of tradition, craft and quality to any project. Because, as Pellegrino would say, “To make a great impression, you have to choose the finest ingredients”... Buon Appetito!

Matroska is a modern solid and expanded display typeface. It has a distinctly smart feel, strongly bring the message of your design projects. Available in single-weight. Multi-lingual supported.
  24. Coil by Brownfox, $44.99
Coil feels comfortable like a well-worn pair of shoes. It could easily pass for an assertive industrial European sans serif of the early 1960s with its slight reverse contrast, monotonous proportions, and squared-off curves, if not for its less predictable side. What appears initially as ellipses upon closer inspection turns out to be irregular shapes, closer to an inverted egg than an oval. The s looks topsy-turvy with its higher curve that is larger than the lower. Some terminal strokes overhang the bowl (as in the a), others open flat (as in the Q, the f, the j, and the t). The resulting effect shakes up this seemingly “retro” face just to make it new. Our midcentury recollections are slightly distorted and reinterpreted by this ironic typeface making it fresh while deceptively cozy and familiar. Coil’s high x-height and even texture make it readable even in small sizes despite its tight apertures. Available in four weights with their italics, with two sets of figures, fractions, and alternates for Extended Latin and Cyrillic scripts. Designed by Vyacheslav Kirilenko and Gayaneh Bagdasaryan, 2020-21.
