Arzachel is a humanistic sanserif with a big x-height and a specific organic look. Its design is scientifically sharp and efficient in small type sizes as well as rugged and dramatic in headlines. Arzachel’s essential feeling comes from several features: all the letters are slightly sloped, stem terminations are flared at the top, and the terminals in letters a, c, e, f… are widening with the inside parts completely flat. The stroke contrast is low in the regular weight while it increases in the black; finally the capitals have an inscriptional flavor. Despite being a sanserif (thus a product of recent typography) Arzachel’s roots stretch back to the Renaissance tradition: Olocco took inspiration from some of the early and rather weird types cut in Venice in the 15th century. hadowfield is a fantasy font which was inspired by the hand lettering on the Spiderwick movie posters (which itself was apparently based on Hand Skript One). Every glyph was drawn by hand, using a gel pen on 160 grams paper. Shadowfield will look good on anything fairy-like - book covers, toy packaging and even bottles of home-made mead! Comes with swashed alternates for all capital letters and some lower case ones as well.

A universal typeface for books, magazines and newspapers must be economizing, quiet, strong in drawing, but original and peaceful at the same time. Type "for all weather" must resist also many difficulties of printing on different surfaces. Therefore, the basic design "Text" is slightly darker and legible from 6 point size even in a dim light, whereas "Book" reduces the effect of running ink and saves toner cartridge. In offices of smaller companies these lighter fonts are welcomed as toner-savers. Andulka also need less space on the page than other text typefaces and saves paper too. Medium and Bold designs keep the original grace, changing its weight only in shadows. Italics may remind humanistic inspiration and forcing the horizontal of x-height with robust horizontal serifs, whereas Roman lower case maintains the baseline. Basic numerals are non-aligning proportional, but there are available upper case figures as well as special numerals drawn for the same height as small caps, which is just about a hairline above the x-height. The characteristic feature of Andulka is a squinted eye in letters 'a', 'c', 'f', 'r', 's', 'k', and softened diagonals through all characters in family. Diagonals were always disturbing and gripping attention extensively. Serifs are stressed trapezoids reminding small beaks at curved endings, descenders 'j' and 'y' may evoke tail feathers of budgerigar. ITC Chivalry is a calligraphic hybrid that honors the tradition of combining Roman capitals with italic lowercase letters. Drawn by Missouri lettering artist Rob Leuschke, who used a flat-nib pen on textured watercolor stock and then converted the drawings into a digital font, the design combines an old world" feel with "new world" legibility. A companion set of black letter caps completes the suite of characters. "I've loved drawing letters for as long as I can remember," says Leuschke. "Even in kindergarten, I tried to draw letters like my teacher." After graduating from college, Leuschke worked for a short time at a sign company in St. Louis, and in the early 1980s began working at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. His talent as a calligrapher and lettering artist eventually brought him back to St. Louis to begin a freelance career. Since then Leuschke has created over 250 fonts, primarily for the greeting card industry, that are now being used on work for his clients all over the world. Inky Fingers… Well, the name says it all! This rather obese font was made by hand (literally) using my index finger, some sheets of paper and a lot of Chinese ink. As the eco-paper absorbed quite a lot of ink, I had to do a second ink-run! Inky Fingers is a very legible typeface, ideal for headlines, books and posters. It comes with Babylonian language support - including the Schwa/schwa glyphs for the Azeri speaking crowd. Ain't I nice?

Barking Frenzy may look as if it was cut out of paper or cardboard, but it's not! It was drawn with a rugged pen, leaving rough edges here and there. It's great for children's books and toys or maybe handcraft or other handcrafted activities. I've added 5 different versions of each lowercase letter and these appear randomly as you type. That way your text looks really natural and organic, because the letters rarely repeat themselves. Also the font has multilingual support!

This is definitely a font suitable for kids toys. The letters are legible, and at the same time totally wacky! Kinda like what a kids toy should be! Fidusmager started out as a handdrawn, slightly rugged looking fon. However I ended up manually tracing each letter in order to have those smooth lines. By the way, Fidusmager is danish and actually means someone who’ll trick you - but as a kid I didn’t know that, and found that it most likely was something positive! :)

This addition to the Whiz-Bang Woodtype series takes its name from a small Texas town in the middle of nowhere which has risen to international prominence—at least for folks interested in such things—as the site of the World Championship Chili Cook-off. Bloody Nose, from Mabry Creative, is an original decorative font with embedded OpenType features. Consisting of hand-scrawled characters, the font is set in all caps and features ninety-eight glyphs with six alternate versions of each. The alternates automatically and randomly cycle through for a more authentic handwritten effect. Bloody Nose was created using an eyedropper to apply red ink to Bristol board. The natural running and pooling of the ink as it absorbed into the board inspired the font’s title.
