Western Railway JNL was inspired by sample lettering found in an old sign painter's reference book published during the early part of the 20th Century and modified for today's digital applications by Jeff Levine.

GRUND is a new fontographic adaption of a remarkable 1920s epigraphical find in the city of Leipsic. This old well-known European trade fair hotspot struggled with a severe shortage of exhibition space around 1920. The solution was to dig deeper into the matter – literally – and 1924 the world’s first underground trade fair exhibition hall was opened right under the city’s central market square. After several changes of use during the past decades the sophisticated Art Deco entrance structure (architect: Otto Droge) was re-opened in December 2013 as a gateway to a new subway rail track. – The original brass lettering of the UNTERGRUNDMESSHALLE MARKT has been retrieved – and served as the inspiration for this new and unique font. Beware The Neighbors is based on “Personality Script”, a rough alphabet originally drawn by Ross F. George, and published in one of the Speedball series of lettering catalogs that ran from 1935 to 1948. The design is something of a minor classic, and several foundries have recreated digital fonts based on it. However, mostly of these interpretations are very “geometric”, formed using straight lines. Intellecta preferred to create a new interpretation using smoother, curved lines to create a creepy appearance. Also included are several ligatures and OpenType stylistic alternates. This version also has an extended character set for use in Central as well as and West European countries, plus Baltic, Turkish and Romanian. Orthotopes is reminiscent of that ever-familiar 70s style sci-fi font whose name I cannot recall and probably doesn't look a thing like this anyway.

Zapf International font is the work of German designer Hermann Zapf, formal enough for widespread use yet tempered with calligraphic warmth. Vigor in the italics is achieved more from design than from slant. One of the distinguishing characteristics of Zapf International is its graduation of weights. Light and medium are relatively close and equally eloquent for text. Demi is a full two steps heavier than medium and heavy several steps beyond demi.

Bertoni is a high contrast Didone family of twenty faces, which combines extreme legibility with distinctive character. It is able to hold its own in modern usage while having features rooted in a deep period charm. The family includes two widths as well as two weights. Bertoni regular, bold and wide are small capitals faces ideal for posters, book covers, packaging and signage. The text faces are body faces which form the ideal accompaniment. For more distinctive features, the Title, Capitals (all capitals, but in two forms) and Flamboyant faces are ideal. Bertoni offers a blend of the modern with classical revivalist charm which makes it up to the minute and never out of place. The family is extensive enough to form the foundation of a commercial house style, but can also lend an element of character in single usage.

Wood Type Grotesk JNL was re-drawn from a set of vintage wood type purchased from a closed rubber stamp shop. Although the style of lettering is referred to in old type catalogs as a "grotesk" face, in truth the lettering has charm and effectively gets the printed point across to the reader. This typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Electrica is a contemporary monospaced typeface family; a tribute to classic typewriters, while designed for today’s needs and media. In spite of taking inspirations from several typefaces used in typewriters (most notably the IBM Selectric), Electrica is far from a revival: it’s a typeface on its own, winking to the past while standing its ground confidently in a contemporary environment.

Pluton, a mono-spaced font, is designed to be versatile and easy on the eyes, with over 1400 defined glyphs. It has wide coverage comprising several different alphabets (Western European, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Runic, Ogham), mathematical, and physical symbols. Pluton Regular has been upgraded to contain over 2600 glyphs. A pluton is a igneous mass of rock formed at considerable depth.

Whenever I went to use Bodoni I could never quite find a version I was happy with, so I designed my own incorporating, hopefully, the best of all the others. I decided to make a slight curve on the uprights, rather like Optima, because I thought this added touch of elegance which many of the others lacked....hence the name.

Royal Street is a sleek, condensed sans family of six typefaces, from ExtraLight to ExtraBold, designed and built to be big and brash. Royal Street has an extended Latin character set tuned for 87 languages, and is designed with several common and discretionary ligatures, as well as case-sensitive punctuation. All features are accessible with CSS as well as in print.

Uberschrift is an elegant display font for creating expressive headlines or logos. The font contains only capital letters, but comes with 200 discretionary ligatures and several alternate characters. Check out the type specimen PDF for more details and a closer look at the typeface. To access the ligatures you need to use an OpenType-savvy app that supports discretionary ligatures.

Originally I planned to call this font “pegefinger” which is index finger in danish. Due to the obvious reason that I drew the letters using my “pegefinger” :) Most letters mimic a loose (perhaps even childish) handwriting, but the legibility is never out of hand. I’ve added 5 different versions of each lowercase letter, and they automatically changes as you type!

This project started from an idea to create a fun & informal typeface that would be cool for designers and for the general public. The Sussan type family is a hand lettering collection designed by Felipe Calderón. It contains sixteen different hand-drawn fonts and a set of funny illustrations designed by Jhony Velasco. On this occasion, we tried to match several font concepts to create nice pieces with them and each one is equipped with automatically exchanging alternates, ligatures, swash letters and some other feature.
