Etruscania font is base on Anchient Etruscan Alphabet. The Etruscan alphabet is an Ancient Italian alphabet used by the Etruscans, an ancient civilization of the central and northern lands, to write their language, from around 700 BC to around 100 AD. The Etruscan alphabet took inspiration from the Phoenician alphabet. The earliest known Etruscan abecedarium inscribed on an ivory wax tablet frame, measuring 8.8x5 cm, was found at Marsiliana near Grosseto, Tuscany in Italy. It dates from around 700 BC.

In 1916 the Prang company - still famous for their excellent pens and pencils - commissioned Thomas Woods Stevens to hire the best calligraphers of the era to hand letter sample pages with different Prang pens and in a variety of styles. The resulting book is a font maker's dream, a collection of period lettering samples perfect for making new fonts. One of the sample pages shows off the look of the Spoonbill pen with a set of classic art deco style letters by Charles Earley. This sample is the basis for our Spoonbill font, which includes a full character set, plus character variations for nesting and overlapping, and a small selection of decorative border characters in the art deco style.

The pages of vintage type foundry catalogs yield so much wonderful type design and artwork. Found within their pages are hundreds of classic text and display faces alongside delicately engraved cuts as well as print shop borders, ornaments and embellishments. These books are treasure troves of their respective times, and Typesetter Ornaments JNL preserves some of that art in digital form. Redrawn from this source material are twenty-six basic design elements that include corner pieces, end pieces, pointing hands, spot illustrations and other designs. Also included are old style parentheses, brackets, an Rx (prescription symbol), two cent signs and a few extra elements located on the number keys and their caps shift counterparts.

The handwritten cursive by the famous Italian Casanova has inspired Petra Beiße to design a new script, the “Casanova Script Pro”, with a complement of over 1400 characters and symbols. “Petras Script”, the first digital script font created by the calligrapher Petra Beiße, has, for many years, met with worldwide success. Petra Beiße has resided for a long time in Wiesbaden, Germany, where she is working as a renowned calligrapher. It is rare that any of her scripts are transferred into digital format and sold worldwide as fonts. Because “Petras Script” became such a huge success, she decided to release this new design for digitization. Under the guidance of Günther Flake, Jessica Franke enlarged this font to contain over 1400 characters. How does one arrive at a font name? With the thousands of digital typefaces available, it's not an easy process. Bandleader JNL was modeled from the hand-lettered title on a piece of sheet music called "Largo", which means "slow tempo". Since the names "Largo" and "Tempo" were already taken, what other musical theme would fit? The lettering is in an Art Deco style, and Big Band was all the rage of the Art Deco period; therefore "Bandleader". Sometimes the road to naming a font takes on many twists and turns but the end result is always gratifying.

Bloxic is a chunky, counter-less display typeface, packed full extra characters and some bonus icons! Bloxic comes packed with over 320 glyphs, including stylistic alternate characters, circled numbers, and a whole bunch of useful symbols and stuff. It started life back in 2008, when pop/punk/emo bands were all the rage. Pulled from a hand lettered t-shirt design, adapted and systemised – it now exists for your typographic pleasure. It still carries some of the hand rendered feel of the original design, and has some slightly different takes on a zero counter typeface (which the world clearly need more of...).

Latin music was all the rage in the United States from the 1930s through the 1950s and songs with a “South of the Border” or “Old Mexico” theme were plentiful. The 1940 sheet music for “Make Love with a Guitar” evoked the idea of serenading one’s lovely lady on horseback while strumming the guitar. ..at least if you went by the by the illustration under the song’s name. As the hand lettered title was rendered in an Art Deco design, it became the basis for Jazz Guitar JNL [which seemed a more befitting name], and is available in both regular and oblique versions.
