The hand lettered cast credits for the 1939 film “Golden Boy” (starring Barbara Stanwyck, Adolphe Menjou, William Holden and Lee J. Cobb) was the model for Golden Moment JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Varese is a geometric and modular typeface inspired by early 1900s Art Deco posters. Its heavy weight is excellent for headlines, display, or large body text. The lowercase is similar to the uppercase, yet many of the lowercase letters have interior spaces and several have some variations on the form (see H/h, E/e, F/f, I/i, J/j, L/l, N/n, T/t). The lowercase also has two alternate glyph sets that are half size and align with cap height. One of the alternate glyph sets has an underline and the other set does not. Varese has a sibling, Varese Soft.

Rosart is a digital version of the 2-line great primer letters cut by J. F. Rosart for Izaak & Johannes Enschedé in 1759 (Enschedé no. 811). When the AR type is set at 50 pt it will match the size of the original.

Variations on a theme by Nicholas J. Werner for St. Louis' Inland Type Foundry provided the pattern for this happy family, released in 1895 and 1899. Both flavors of this font feature the 1252 Latin, 1250 Central European, 1254 Turkish and 1257 Baltic character sets.

POSSIBLE is both sans and serif, either is possible. The typeface is a sans-serif impersonating a spur serif, or it’s a glyphic with the look and feel of a sans. This clean, contemporary family is inspired by Percy J Smith’s ’Petit Serif’ from 1928, and similarly takes inspiration from Johnston’s Underground, though more recent influences provide geometric and humanist elements that, together with the tiny micro-serifs, improve clarity and legibility. One of the classic display types of the 19th century, an Egyptian with bracketed serifs. There are many variants of this face and its uses are many, this a modified version lacking the teardrop or ball terminals on a, c, f, g, j, r, f, y.

Point of Sale JNL is a specialty font for producing retro-style price cards, tags, stickers, labels and similar items. Within this design are a large set of numerals and two smaller sets of numerals. Both of the smaller sets are centered against the larger ones with one set also having underscores. Gradle Nr. 1 is yet another new art nouveau design in the URW++ library. It was reworked, redesigned, completed and digitally remastered by Ralph M. Unger for URW++, based on hand-drawn upper case characters by M. J. Gradl, about in 1900. Gradl Nr. 1 is a caps-only font perfectly suited for posters and signage.

J. M. Bergling called the inspiration for this typeface “modern”—at least, it passed for modern in 1914. Its bold, sinuous forms and unusual decorative treatment suggest stained glass of a certain era, and so its name is German for “Arts and Crafts”. An extremely low midline marks this offering, based on an “elegant” alphabet found in Samuel Welo’s chapbook, Lettering: Modern and Foreign, published in 1930 by Frederick J. Drake and Company. Definitely different, and Deco at its most debonair. All versions of this font include the Unicode 1250 Central European character set in addition to the standard Unicode 1252 Latin set.

A while back I created a nice font called Harimau. It is a childish font, with a happy feel to it. Harimau had some unusual glyphs, most notably the 'g' and the 'j', which, for some designers, were a little too unusual. Therefore I have created a new font based on the old Harimau: it is similar, but comes with 'normal' glyphs.

The genuine Futura takes up Paul Renner’s earliest sketches and brings back to life the original stylistic alternatives of the letters a, g, m, and n. Another of its peculiarities is the curved ends of the j, l, and t. It retains its genetic heritage, maintaining a perfect geometry, but with a fresher air than ever.
