Alexander Quill was originally designed in the early 1980s to be cut in 14 point for casting into foundry type for the setting and printing of limited edition books at Pie Tree Press, Jim Rimmer's private sanctum. This alphabet exhibits traditional calligraphic tension, which helps its simple, somewhat octagonal forms play well together for an easy read. Its setting expresses a dramatic sense of history or fantasy. Alexander Quill was updated and remastered for the latest technologies in 2012. It comes with plenty of built-in alternates, a glyphset of over 410 characters, and supports the majority of Latin-based languges. 20% of this font's revenues will be donated to the GDC Scholarship Fund, supporting higher typography education in Canada.

Cosmic Turtle is the belief that the world is supported by a giant turtle. It is mostly found in Hindu and Chinese mythology and the mythologies of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. I had to think of this, as the idea of the Cosmic Turtle is referenced to in the 1982 book ‘A Wild Sheep Chase’ by Haruki Murakami - my favourite author. Cosmic Turtle is a font that I made using a broken chop stick and Chinese ink. I was actually trying to create something scary for Halloween, but this is what came out and I quite like it. Cosmic Turtle is a fat display font with rough edges, wobbly glyphs and a set of double letter ligatures for you to play with.

Love Notes JNL is a total reworking of one of Jeff Levine's old freeware fonts. This revised version has an alphabet set jogged left and right in different upper and lower case variations. Playing around with the shift key will bring you the optimum results. On the left and right parenthesis keys are blank hearts logged left and right, and the corresponding fill fonts are on the bracket keys. (NOTE: You may have to do some manual adjustments, as the overlay placement can vary slightly in some programs.) It’s a brand new year, but I have been going back in time. To the seventies to be precise. A ‘bubblegum’ font was on the top of my to-do list, so when it was finally finished, it reminded me of seventies posters. My youngest son Boris has his birthday in a week. He turns 8, and he loves to play with those Danish building blocks - you know what I’m talking about. Last year he developed an interest in Star Wars n(no idea how that came to be), so we bought him some Star Wars-themed blocks for his birthday. I am now watching the movies with him and it is fun to witness his enthusiasm. The only drawback is the fact that we now seem to have a Chewbacca in our home… Meowtant Kittens is a font I drew with a fineliner and then digitised. Of course the name was influenced by the movies I am watching with Boris, even though they don’t feature any Meowtant Kittens.

I've been learning to read Cyrillic and Greek letters lately, mainly because I've been playing the game GeoGuessr. (If you haven't played it, I highly recommend! It plops you down somewhere in the world in Google Street View, and you have to figure out where you are.) Cyrillic shows up in so many more places than Russia! You can see it in Bulgaria, Mongolia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kyrgyzstan, and more. Because of that, I made sure to include a fun double-uppercase version of those alphabet sets in Sleepy Bear. They're styled the same way as the Latin characters: all uppercase height, with some lowercase-styled letters thrown in at that same height for a fun look for all ages. I've also made two weights of Sleepy Bear: a plump and smooth regular weight, and a lighter weight that's built to stack on top of the regular (though you can use it on its own). Just type out a word in Sleepy Bear, copy it, and then change the copy to Sleepy Bear Light. You'll get a great outline look in seconds! McKnight Kauffer is a casual sans derived from poster and book cover lettering by the American designer, Edward McKnight Kauffer, who mainly worked in England through the 1920s and 1930s. The style owes much to Louis Oppenheim's Fanfare of 1927, but without the Germanic blackletter inflection.
