Mirabel is based on the handwriting of Beverly Bouwsma (Philip's mother), which she developed in the 1930s in, as she puts it, an act of teenage rebellion. In the 1960s, Philip gave her a broad-edged Osmiroid fountain pen which she took to immediately and has used ever since, along with the computer fonts he made from her script. Since Beverly Bouwsma mixed loops and straight ascenders, two interchangeable fonts have emerged, a formal package that sacrifices some flamboyance for classical balance and legibility, but retains the quality of the writing and celebrates the personality of its creator. A very legible Renaissance Antiqua This typeface is based on the desire to create an Antiqua like those which might have existed at the beginning of the »printing age« — the basic form oriented on the classical Roman and early Middle Ages models, the ductus defined completely by writing with a wide pen and much individual expression in detail. In the spring of 2005 I had the opportunity to closely examine a few pages in the famous book »Hypnerotomachia Poliphili« from 1499. The script used here from Aldus Manutius is exemplary. Most of the book, however, is not very carefully printed. The characters do not stay on the line; the print is at times too strong and at times much too weak. And on these imperfect pages the true character of the letters is recognizable; that is, that they are cut with lively detail which is a result of the patterns provided by full-time writers. After all, around 1499 script was written as a rule and the printed type was oriented on this pattern. I prefer the typeface on the lightly printed pages. The characters are not placed neatly on the line, but the distinct and emerging lively ductus of the individual characters automatically presents harmonious word formations in the eye of the beholder, with the non-perfect line stepping into the background. Also in Charpentier Renaissance, the strokes of the wide pen are still noticeable. The font has very defined softly bent serifs. The forms are powerful and stand solidly on the baseline. Charpentier Renaissance is very legible and yields a solid and yet still lively line formation. The accompanying italic, like its historical models, has almost no inclination. The design is a low-contrast companion to the award winning Palatino Arabic and comes in both regular and bold weights. It is designed for use in print in both large and small sizes, and brings into Arabic the informal and friendly appearance of Palatino Sans. The counters are wide open to allow for better readability in small sizes as well as to maintain an open and friendly appearance. Gazpacho is inspired by the serif typefaces used in editorial media in the 70s and 80s. The morphology of the letterforms makes this typeface ideal for display purposes like logos and big, bold headlines. Also, thanks to its large x-height it works perfectly on headlines with tight leading. On the other hand, its high contrast and very simple and recognisable shapes makes it highly readable, so it works on small, long texts as well. It comes in 7 different weights and 2 styles (Standard & Italic).

The rainforest of Borneo which has a wealth of big trees and lush is the basis of inspiration of the Geegantic font. Therefore Geegantic has little difference with a similar font that usually appear in the feminine form. As you can see, Geegantic has the form of contrast stroke, a thick and casual. As display fonts, Geegantic aims to touch the needs of the general usage of displays, branding and advertising. However, under certain conditions, it is also possible to fill the text area.

The renowned American illustrator and graphic designer Milton Glaser designed Glaser Stencil in 1970. Glaser Stencil is a perfect summation of both Modernist proportion and New York-style solidity and self-assurance. An all capitals font, the shapes of the letters are reminiscent of popular sans serif faces of the time, such as Futura and ITC Avant Garde Gothic. Like everything New York-related, Glaser Stencil should be used big, in headlines and display applications, where it can play a bold, proud, and confident role.

Supra Rounded is the newest addition to my big SUPRA-family. It really rounds of the huge family with a friendly design, that makes it an excellent and elegant text-typeface. It is an OpenType family for professional typography with an extended character set of over 700 glyphs and extensive kerning. It supports more than 40 Central- and Eastern-European as well as many Western languages (except Greek and Cyrillic). Ligatures, different figures, fractions, currency symbols and small caps can be found in all cuts.
