Organika is a hand drawn type family of six fonts. It includes upright and italic brush script, sans and serif fonts. Because of the uneven edges, loose forms and bouncing letters Organika has an organic, friendly and casual feeling. The script has lots of alternates that gives you possibility to build your text almost like handwriting with all the charming imperfections and variations that a real handwriting has. If you enable Discretionary Ligatures OpenType feature (dlig) it replaces automatically lower case letters with an alternate when the letter is repeated. So there are never two letters next to each other that are just the same. The script also has a few neat underlines to choose from to give your design the final touch. This "Leaf" font has been swirling in my head for years - I remember my sister and I making letter formations like these when I was young. It was exciting to see the lettering look even better on paper than it did in my mind! "Leaf" surprised me by having two distinct looks: in size 24 or smaller, the look is delicate, because your eye doesn't see any space in the letters. In size 28 or larger, the eye can discern spaces, which gives a different facet to its personality. As much as I like this font when viewed on a monitor screen, it really shines when printed. The "Leaf" font is a perfect blend of quaint hand-written style mixed with crisp letter formations. This font has a very "happy" quality to it. May using it bring a little more happiness to your day!

The name “Bicyclette” was chosen because this typeface is all about balance and elegance. The idea was to create a highly contrasted sans-serif family carefully balanced between gentle curves and sharp angles, with large capitals opposing uncommonly short lower case, through six distinctive weights. The letters are wide, and the capitals pop up in headlines while the lower case leaves a lot of white space between the text lines because of its small x-height. The edges are rounded (but not so much for the family to be called rounded), just enough to make the text feel slightly softer, gentler, while retaining some of that technical sans sharpness. The Bicyclette character set supports Western and Central European languages, and includes an extended set of monetary symbols. Each weight includes small caps, ligatures, proportional lining and oldstyle numbers, tabular figures, fractions and scientific superior/inferior figures.

I became interested in designing Bodoni Classic because of a lazy graphic designer at Jacques Damase publishing house. He had to change a single letter on a bookcover about J. B. BODONI. The French call him Jean Baptiste instead of Giambattista! And that unknown graphic designer just took any old “J” from some newly cut Bodoni. All the new Bodoni cuts have square serifs, whereas the originals had rounded serifs and slightly concave feet. The single letter “J” with the squared off serif was for me like a road sign to start redesigning the entire Bodoni family. That’s exactly what I started in 1993 and a dozen years later I am finished. Okay, I am still adding new Bodoni Classics, but those are my personal additions. The Metalista font was created as a sign of undying admiration for the persistence of heavy metal culture. Archie is a wide attention-grabber based on a simple geometric alphabet drawn in the early 1930s by Dutch calligrapher and lettering artist Martin Meijer. This digital family expands considerably on the original letters, adding biform shapes, small caps, italics across the board, and support for many Latin-based languages. Like the name suggests, the pi font Afroculture from typeface designer Boule Yvan depicts symbols and figures from African folk art. Stylized masks with different expressions and a number of sculptures lend variety to this font. The figures are consciously simple but shown from different perspectives. The black and white surfaces contrast with another and suggest the interplay between shadow and light. The figures of Afroculture are perfect for illustrating texts in a related context and their details come through best in larger point sizes.

Motorix is a typeface of alternatives. A versatile and highly flavorful constructivist design in three weights with corresponding italics, and hundreds of variant forms. Cat Burglar is another off-kilter sans-serif font by Pink Broccoli, this time inspired by the titling of a 1961 Looney Tunes cartoon called "The Pied Piper of Guadalupe". As with some of my previous type designs, it is a typographic drunken stumble, wonderfully and awkwardly stumbling across designs, surprising with each letter typed. With an extensive character set, and offbeat letter weighting, Cat Burglar is fun to typeset with, with a collection of double letter ligatures, as well as discretionary ligature combinations that add to the quirky playfulness.

Alf R. Becker was a noted sign painter, designer and the creator of hundreds of unique alphabets which were published in the trade magazine Signs of the Times during the 1930s through the 1950s. Thanks to Tod Swormstedt of ST Media [and who is also the curator of the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati], Jeff Levine received some reference material on Becker's work. Becker displayed many of his type styles within decorative panels—a popular trend in the days when signs were hand-lettered. Using the reference material as a guide, Jeff has re-drawn twenty-six sign panels for adaptation to digital print work. While the designs in themselves are not thoroughly unique to Alf Becker, he has left behind some tangible examples of how sign painters embellished their lettering work. With the use of complementary colors and tones, these panels—joined with vintage lettering - classically recreate the warm and attractive advertising of years ago.

Capsule is a reverse-stress, high-contrast, rounded sans-serif font with two distinct personalities. An all-caps face, there are however variations of some letters in the lowercase slots. The lowercase variants are more playful, with more bulbous elements that riff on phototype faces like Amelia and Data 70, but all can work together and be mixed and matched to your heart's content. Capsule boasts a bunch of esoteric discretionary ligatures to play around with, and stylistic alternates for 4, 7 and £. The language support is extensive enough to set essays in most Latin-based languages, even though that's the last thing you should be doing with this font! Capsule should be set large. The fit is tight and the kerning is aggressive. It's not what you'd call a workhorse, but Capsule is an All-Caps you'll (see what I did there?!) want to use for impactful headlines, cutting edge logos and post-modern layouts.

Oh no, not another typewriter font! But Klaklak is different. Not only has Klaklak four weights from worn out ink (light) to typing twice (bold), an Italic (which is Regular with authentic underlines as there is no Italic on typewriters) and an x-through font called Klaxxx (no need to erase your typos – just x them out (just kidding 😊)). It also does a lot to avoid repeating letterforms by first replacing about 320 common letter combinations by ligatures and then mixing them up with 4 style sets which results in about 1300 ligatures and more than 2600 glyphs in total per font. The result is a very realistic appearance of a mechanical typewriter. All you have to do is turn on Ligatures and Contextual Alternates in your favourite layout app. Of course Klaklak is multilingual, supports a lot of Latin based languages and has all glyphs for even demanding layout tasks. DF Korolev is a 72 weight geometric sans serif family based on lettering by an anonymous Soviet graphic designer from the propaganda displays at the Communist Red Square parade in 1937. It has been named in honor of Sergey Pavlovich Korolyov, or Korolev, considered by many to be the father of practical astronomics. Rational and robust, it is also elegant and refined. Tracings done in Illustrator over a photograph featuring this type pinned down some of the basic character shapes. These were then imported into FontLab, where the full glyph complement was developed. The lower-case has been designed from scratch, and adheres to the structural logic of the uppercase as closely as possible. The complete Korolev super-family includes standard, italic, condensed, and compressed versions, each in five weights. The Alternate families come with a double-story “a”. Authoritative yet friendly, Korolev Rounded is a versatile addition to the Korolev range.

Nexus (2004) consists of three matching variants – a serif, a sans and a slab – which makes it a highly versatile typeface. Nexus started as an alternative to Seria, a typeface Majoor had designed some 5 years earlier. But soon the design developed into a new typeface, with numerous changes in proportions and in details and with a redrawn italic. Besides the three connected versions (Nexus Serif, Nexus Sans, Nexus Mix) Majoor designed a monospaced version called Nexus Typewriter. The Nexus family is a workhorse typeface system like Scala, with features such as small caps in all weights, four different sorts of numbers and an extensive set of ligatures. The Artimas family is the new book design font family developed out of Aramus. These new serif typefaces are readable and graceful — part of my development of a series of book families. Aramus was very popular for a single font release of a text font. This new book font family retains the looseness of the original with radically different font metrics and many shape “corrections”. In fact, Artimas continues a genuine new path for this foundry This new font family for book design continues a turn toward more “traditional” x-heights of around a third of the point size.The Artimas print production font family is six new OpenType Pro fonts with Caps, lowercase, small caps, & figures to go with each of those character sets. The typeface LECO 1988 is another font family which belongs to LECO set. It is a display typeface, which is inspired by the title written on the bottle of lečo from 1988. Its typical features are embedded diacritics and significant black look with low contrast. Lower case is united with upper case and has several identical glyphs in both forms. Font contains alternative set of glyphs for letter „E“. Tabular numerals, superiors and inferiors and the full set of (glyphs - symbols) for languages using the Latin alphabet are also included in this font. LECO 1988 font family includes six specific styles: Regular, Blind, Gradient, Outline, Shadow and Stencil style. Those styles extend typographic options by mutual combination or overlapping, whilst every style share the identical metrics and kerning. Font format is Open Type with the support of several open type features. This typeface is suitable for creating logotypes, powerful posters or can be used as a headline display typeface.

Komu is the revival of a style of letters frequently used on billboards during the socialist period in the former Czechoslovakia. These were usually uppercase letters made of paper and covered with a layer of aluminum foil. People just had to pick the letters (that included a variety of widths and sizes) out from a box and pin them up on a styrofoam billboard, thus making it easy to announce any event. Komu consists of two styles. Version A is rather squarish and includes some weird characters (K, 5, narrow E, strange diacritics) while version B is more rounded with most letters equally wide (with the exception of E, F and L, which look really wide next to the rest). The optical disparity of the original letters was kept, so that some of them look slightly darker than the others. Komu is intended to be used on posters, books and other products about Socialism in our region and includes full support for languages based on latin script.

Hexonu is a weird, awkward, monospaced font family. In place of true lower-case letters, it has a second set of capitals that, through the magic of the OpenType contextual alternatives (calt) feature, automatically alternates with the set on the upper-case keys. If one wants to use only one set of letters, the contextual alternatives must be turned off and character spacing adjusted. Hexonu is another effort to create a font with alternating sets of letters (see PoultySign, Lentzers, and Caltic for others). The base shape for forming the letters is a lopsided hexagon that resembles an old coffin. In four of the six family members, the alternating shape is a distorted hour-glass. In the other two, coffin shapes heads-up alternate with coffin shapes heads-down. The family was created as an experiment with the calt feature and not for any particular use. It does not work as text but its bizarreness makes it appropriate for some poster and signage applications.

A typeface originally inspired by a wall lettering in a small chapel on Crete, Greece. Despite its experimental character it works nicely in a text environment. Crete is perfect for display use where a feminine and elegant touch is desired. The unusual serifs and terminals add to the graceful appearance in the Thin and provide a more robust feel in the Thick. Both weights are metrically interchangeable, so text will not reflow when mixed. The accompanying Italics have several different lettershapes and therefore have, in some cases, their own widths.
