Article to appear on the font family page: According to the Catholic faith, a well known náhuatl story called "Nican Mopohua" (translated as "Here it's narrate") about the Marianas apparitions on the Tepeyac's hill, to the north of the actual Mexico City. After four apparitions, La Virgen de Guadalupe (LVG) told Juan Diego (JD) that he must introduce himself to the first Bishop of Mexico. JD took in his "ayate" some roses (that aren't natives to Mexico's barren territories) and when he dropped them in front of the bishop, the image of LVG appeared in front of him with indigenous features. I’ve worked a lot in this font that appears to came out of nowhere, just like the image of LVG itself, the fact is that I started first sketching some flowers, because I wanted to do something related to this mexican story, so, taking some features from this flowers I started sketching some letters, for example “r” and “i” and the counter forms for some letters like “a” and “o” (that I didn’t use by the way) and the punctuation marks, all inspired by this leaf forms. Once TT Smalls was a neutral geometric sans serif, and the inline version was an alternative stylistic set. However, the TypeType collection of universal fonts is extensive, so we focused on creating a unique and expressive font and released an updated TT Smalls. The font contains only uppercase characters in the inline version, and glyph designs are based on a geometric sans serif. With an increase or decrease in weight, the number of strokes in the font goes up or down, respectively. Stylish and easy to use, the TT Smalls font can complete a collection of eye-catching decorative typefaces. Font TT Smalls contains 12 styles: 6 upright and 6 inclined. The character set of the font is 172 glyphs. It has basic Latin and Cyrillic and the main punctuation marks. The standard OpenType feature calt has been added to the font.

We named this font Scholz Secession. Fin-de-siecle Vienna, Austria is the source of this Jugendstil design from Schriftgiesserei Eduard Scholz. The original release was under the name Reklameschrift Secession. Most of the curve strokes look like commas to me. The letters are as soft and plump as the comforter on the bed I slept on in a Salzburg B&B many years ago. I was traveling with a college buddy and our next stop was Vienna. There a kind, young student named Hanna and her boyfriend took us under their wing. One of the places Hanna proudly showed us was Otto Wagner’s Majolika Haus, built in 1898, and only about 8 blocks from Secession Hall. Hanna explained to us that the style was called Jugendstil and represented Art Nouveau as interpreted within the framework of their culture. I even took a picture. After all, memories are part of who we are. Figures are old-style for text use. This font would not be my first choice for a spread sheet. Included are German ligatures ch (alt-0123) & ck (125), two period ornaments (135, 175) and lower case o and u with Hungarian long umlaut (215, 247)). A very likeable and easy-to-use font.

Philadelphian is a revival of a MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan font from 1867 by the same name. The regular version with shadow outline was the only style that was offered in 1867. We've taken the original design further by creating two additional weights of medium and bold plus plain black versions. The medium and bold weights are unique because only the horizontal strokes increase in thickness while the vertical strokes remain the same in each weight. Philadelphian Nite is the plain black version of this font family, Nite is the casual spelling of the word Night meaning dark or black. In the late 1800's Philadelphian was a very popular typeface which can be seen on many billheads and letterheads through the early 1900's. If you're looking for a western style font that doesn't look like any other then Philadelphian is the right choice. While the name doesn't remind you of the cowboy genre we've kept the original name for historical reasons because this font was so popular in its day. We plan on going forward with a weathered version of Philadelphian which will be released under a southwestern style name. Between geometry & shapes inspired by nature, in 4 fonts Audace was born as a response to a simple brief: how to visually express human interaction and technology with abstract forms? The starting point is a humanistic sanserif, to which are added external references: design pieces, furniture, buildings. Architects shape our world with the intention to reconnect nature, human and address a perfect functionality. Not so far to typeface design which combines a personal vision and ensures good legibility in a certain context. Audace — like the works of those artists, designers, architects — is clearly influenced by the tension of the line, the play with negative space, the dynamics, the surprise, the nature that will influence the shapes of the letters. Seasons Greetings is intended to bring Christmas cheer. It has a very limited character set, with all the letters being lower-case. One set of letters is white on black Christmas balls, while the other is black on white Christmas balls. Wakerobin takes its charming swagger from the hand-painted billboard, poster and signage lettering of the mid-19th century. These showy styles did everything they could to stand out from the background cacophony of advertising, with signwriters using sharp and high contrast serif letters, squared block shapes, or art nouveau forms to grab the attention of passersby. Wakerobin embraces the spirit of these letterforms, bringing these various styles together in one typeface - as if users had their own sign painter on hand. Just as lettering artists had to adapt to a variety of sizes - from wide streetcar lettering to compressed forms that squeezed into narrow Victorian windows - the variable version of Wakerobin scales up and down in width to fit whatever environment the user’s working in. The static fonts come in three widths and five weights. As well as its adaptability, Wakerobin is bursting with vintage flavour, making it hard to ignore. Its distinctive, spiky serifs would be right at home on food and drinks packaging, as well as shop windows, adverts, and any other place that calls for some typographic showmanship. It performs particularly well in busy environments, or anywhere with a lot of visual noise - just as its historic predecessors did. And while Wakerobin is first and foremost a display typeface, it’s surprisingly elegant when used at text size, or in the lighter end of the weight spectrum.

Sada is a text font designed with hand held devices and ebooks in mind. Glyphs are designed to be larger than usual and very clear with soft visual characteristics and many traditional Arabic calligraphic transitional features incorporated to improve legibility. The word “sada” means “echo” in Arabic. Even though Sada is a cursive style font it offers clearly distinguished and visually unified letter shapes in every position of a word. Sada supports all Arabetic scripts covered by Unicode 6.1, and the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks, including support for Quranic texts. It comes with three weights, regular, bold, and ultra-light. Each weight has normal and left-slanted “italic” styles. The script design of this font family follows the Arabetics Mutamathil Taqlidi style and utilizes varying x-heights. The Mutamathil Taqlidi type style uses one glyph per every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter, as defined by the Unicode Standards, and one additional final form glyph, for each freely-connecting letter in an Arabic text. Sada includes the required Lam-Alif ligatures in addition to all vowel diacritic ligatures. Sada’s soft-vowel diacritic marks (harakat) are only selectively positioned with most of them appearing on similar lower or upper positions to emphasize they are not part of letters. Kashida is zero width glyph.

‘Skiart Serif Mini’ is now available online. Originally inspired by the san serif font ‘Skia’ by Mathew Carter for Apple. ‘Skiart’ was designed to feel more like a serifed font, but without any serifs. It took a step between sans serif and serif fonts. Next on the path towards a serif font comes Skiart Serif Mini, with tiny serifs added. This is a true serif font, all be it on the small side. It remains fully readable and feels as clean and normal as any of the best body copy serifs, and yet still has the strong solid bones of all the other Skiart font familys. If compared to one of the more commonly used serifs like ‘Times New Roman’, the ‘Skiart Serif Mini’ lowercase is more open with a taller x-height, increasing its readability and friendliness. The serifs are smaller and less distracting. They are not pretending to be ligatures. Where ‘Times’ makes its p q b d forms out of a barely touching oval and stem, the ‘Serif Mini’ forms are much more firmly attached, appearing clearly as single letters. The standard setting for the g’s are round single storied, (the italic a’s are also), feeling warmer and more inviting in the ‘Serif Mini’ font. Much more friendly than the stuffy double storied versions in fonts such as ‘Times’ etc.

Sisters is a lively set of stencil display typefaces designed by Type-Ø-Tones’ co-founder Laura Meseguer. The family features four fresh fonts that share foundational principles of construction yet complement each other—as sisters do—by celebrating their differences. Variations in contrast, weight, and design characteristics result in four distinct styles dubbed One through Four. This cool quartet contains no lowercase, asserting the family’s rightful place in the titling typography space. Like many Type-Ø-Tones typefaces, Sisters was conceived as a custom lettering project—in this case, the design was crafted for the identity of an art exhibition. Laura initially drew only the limited character set the show required, but from the outset, she saw great potential for a fully developed type family based on her lettering concept. The first member of Laura’s new family was, naturally, Sisters One. She later added contrast to produce Sisters Two, then equalized the weight of Sisters Two to create Sisters Three. To round out the group, Laura added a deco touch to Sisters Two, resulting in the festive but retro-elegant Sisters Four. Each Sister shares DNA with the other members of the family, just as human siblings do :). Credit for the Sisters name goes to Eider Corral and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting moniker for this little family.

Silent Brush is a very lovely, elegant script font in capital letters bigger than ordinary ones to express such dramatic, attractive visual effects. To be consistently legible and harmonious in the whole context, every letter has its own proportions. One of the font’s main features is the brush scratch on every letter to show that the writing is made up of a paint brush producing a lot of rough textures. Unarmed began life as a series of rectangles in Fireworks. The task was designing my own business card for the first time in years, and the perfect lettering couldn't be found in either free or commercial fonts. While there were some good choices, none of them really communicated who I was. Initially only the lowercase letters in my name were created, with each being designed around a 7 x 4 grid of squares. I liked the result so much that I wanted to use the same typeface in different projects - and to save time in future, I decided to create this font. In creating DM Unarmed, the intention was to avoid diagonal lines, and to keep all the lines horizontal, vertical and grid-like. This made creating some of the characters - particularly the rounded ones and the letters X and Z - challenging. Coming from both worlds, I wanted to achieve a blend of technicality and creativeness, without trying to pretend one was the other. For best results this font should be used for large and prominent text, although it works at smaller sizes up to 12pt. I've spent a lot of time trying to hint a few characters that wouldn't play ball, such as 2, 7 and 8. In case you're wondering: DM Unarmed got its name from my philosophy of facing challenges without reliance on tools and weapons.

Character set covers Latin alphabet of European languages, Vietnamese and Pinyin with standard ligatures, digits, punctuation, currencies and other symbols - the total of 555 glyphs. The idea came from a custom logotype I made several years ago for a local charity organisation that helps children. The logotype was based on bold letters with light that make the "balloon" effect visible in "Holes" style. Later I expanded the family with "Cuts" and all the derivative fonts that make the whole color family. The purpose was to create a funny, friendly and playful script that would embrace the beauty of the Arabic script which is available in Fushar Arabic. The Latin character set is a useful addition and is available in multilingual bundles. Solid, Cuts and Holes are classic one-color styles which can be used separately to compose a simple text. With Shadows and Lights they can produce a multicolour design, as shown on the images above. To save the time, there are three already prepared combinations in the new OpenType-SVG color format. The features include contextual alternates, standard ligatures, fractions, ordinals, case-sensitive forms, proper mark attachment, superscript (1, 2, 3) & localizations.

Le Havre Rough. It’s high-resolution, hand-crafted letterpress to the core. Based on insigne’s popular Le Havre typeface, this new heat-treated, weathered face of all caps joins the realism and appeal of the top-quality Le Havre family. Rough’s eroded, printed look is extremely customizable, offering eleven distressed choices that appear fantastic even at large output sizes. Go ahead. Try it on, say, a billboard. Use its full texture and grit to capture the classic, genuine print feel that you need in your project. A few suggestions for use: - In Photoshop, jigger with various 'anti-aliasing' options for best outcomes. Smooth or strong is generally best. - In Illustrator, the shadow layer occasionally doesn't align when using the regular layer.
