  7. In 1931, The Times of London commissioned a new text type design from Stanley Morison and the Monotype Corporation, after Morison had written an article criticizing The Times for being badly printed and typographically behind the times. The new design was supervised by Stanley Morison and drawn by Victor Lardent, an artist from the advertising department of The Times. Morison used an older typeface, Plantin, as the basis for his design, but made revisions for legibility and economy of space (always important concerns for newspapers). As the old type used by the newspaper had been called Times Old Roman," Morison's revision became "Times New Roman." The Times of London debuted the new typeface in October 1932, and after one year the design was released for commercial sale. The Times New Roman World Version is an extension of the original Times New Roman with several other scripts like with the Helvetica World fonts. It is part of the Windows Vista system. The following code pages are supported:1250 Latin 2: Eastern European 1251 Cyrillic 1253 Greek 1254 Turkish 1255 Hebrew 1256 Arabic Note: The Roman and Bold versions include the arabic scripts but they are not part in the corresponding italic versions. 1257 Windows Baltic 1258 Windows Vietnamese

  9. Duos Pro by Underware, $50.00
Duos Pro, a script for illusionists, comes in 10 styles. Whatever style you pick: apply this speedy monolinear handwriting font in large sizes, because it is made for catching the attention. Take Duos Sharp, which comes with speedy strokes and sharp endings in light, regular and black weights. Or pick Duos Round, and its 3 styles with a softer voice and round endings. Some people call those endings “funky ball noses“, an odd but appropriate description. Round styles look more like round tip speedball lettering, but contrary to most speedball letterings they're written with a very high speed. Especially Duos Round Black is more cuddlesome than its sharper counterpart. For an even more intuitive feel, we added two more sets: Duos Brush & Duos Paint. Duos Brush combines monoline strokes with brush beginnings and endings, for that graphical, freshly lettered touch. A closer look will reveal how its brushed tails vary all the time. Duos Paint is made up out of rough & artistic painted strokes, with all its accompanying shortcomings. In contradiction to the finesses of lighter weights, Duos Paint Black scores in being the most nonchalant and impressionistic. Poésie brutale! As well as having the option to choose between (or mix) these 10 styles, Duos Pro has additional hidden functionalities. For example, every style has many alternate lettershapes and ligatures, offering various different results and lengths to display every single word. Or manually add one of the swashes for more emphasis. A bonus font, Duos Tools, includes tool icons, strokes and banners. If that ain’t enough, throw in some polysemic letters for smart, ambiguous communication if you like. Want to become a signpainter? Then be a signpainter. Always wanted to be an artist? This is your chance! Duos Pro boosts your look. Make your visual vocabulary as grandiose, dramatic, sensitive or picturesque as you want. But whatever you do, don't hesitate to apply Duos Pro “short & big”!

Larken is a confident serif. Designed to reflect nature, it creates a sense of natural softness and expressiveness. We pushed the concept into a usability focused direction, to work as a bold tool and beautiful communicator. Larken variable allows fluid design across 7 weights, italics and major latin based languages. True italics advance the aesthetics, bringing energy and making it suitable for modern design. The type family melds organic curves and gentle repetition into powerful and harmonious type. At large point sizes you can appreciate the letter shapes, whilst the same restraint and focus creates an even texture for small point sizes and long reading. The font broadens its use by supplying weights all the way from thin to black. The natural curves, swells and sloping trunks, grow in character as the font gains weight. Whilst the thinner weights have lowered contrast and optical corrections to create a warm and gentle appearance. The Larken character set incorporates additional symbols, stylistic alternates, unique ligatures and case sensitive punctuation - producing a stable workhorse family ready to tackle projects of any size.Check out Jeko which is a great pair for Larken.

  37. Delfin Scripts by Eclectotype, $40.00
Delfino Script is a cool, connecting script that can appear both retro and contemporary. Curved on the outsides of strokes, and jagged inside, the forms look like an abstraction of strips of tape, folding and flowing, or even marker pen style lettering. This script is not created by any pen though - its forms are constructed, not painted. Typographic features like ink traps add sparkle to the text. OpenType features include ligatures, contextual alternates (for more realistic connections) and stylistic sets. Stylistic Set 1 changes certain upper case letters into forms more suited for all caps setting, although they can also be used freely with the lower case. Set 2 changes the r into a less scripty form and set 3 adds a connecting tail to the q. Delfino Script would find itself at home in cookery books, fashion blogs, vintage car magazines and set large and proud on expanses of concrete, or, most likely, whatever you might have in mind for it! Delfina Script is practically identical to Delfino save for round tittles, periods and any other dot shaped glyph components. Strangely for such a little change, it does seem to give the face a different character.
