Malmö Sans was born from the preconception that geometry is neutral, and neutral fonts have a wide application window. No ornaments, no quirks – just clean. Unger redesigned the font based on artwork from old font books, and extended the character set to cover not only standard Western but also the Central European character set. A 1932 fan magazine from Spain entitled “Films Selectos” (“Select Films”) had those words hand lettered in a decorative Art Deco type style that was a cross between the “Futura Black” style of stencil influenced display lettering and “Fiesta” lettering. This hybrid design is now available digitally as Dance and Sing JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Home. Dersima is a stencil display typeface that is a homage to past relatives and ancestors of genocide and oppression. The philosophy of the typefaces missing parts symbolizes the dark and confusing history and the struggle for equality of the Alevi Kurds. The objective of this typeface is to live on and make sure they are not forgotten.

Braggadocio is a very black typeface. Braggadocio is a strange hybrid with characteristics of both sans serif and modern faces; and it belongs very much to its time. Like high society in the 1920's, it should not be taken too seriously. Use the Braggadocio font for display lines in advertising, magazines and light hearted communications.

ITC Fenice font (pronounced fe-nee-chay) is the work of designer Aldo Novarese and was influenced by the traditional designs of Didot, Bodoni, and Ibarra. It displays the fine serifs of a Bodoni but blends such characteristics with a contemporary structural style. ITC Fenice font is perfect for applications requiring the economical use of space.

ITC Syndor is the work of Swiss designer Hans Eduard Meier, a font which is almost, but not quite, a sans serif. The beginnings and endings of strokes display a hint of the calligrapher's hand and these tiny serifs optimize legibility. This legibility and the typeface's simple forms make ITC Syndor an excellent choice for business and presentation graphics.

The result of a study into the Paris Metro system; Metro Sans is a Grotesk typeface with personality. It bridges the gap between the stern terminals of a Swiss Neo-Grotesk, and the smooth curves of a modern day Geo-Grotesk. The two combine to give a versatile typeface that works well in both body and display weights.

A small book entitled “Portfolio of Alphabet Designs for Artists, Architects, Designers & Craftsmen” [published in 1938 by Irene K. Ames] contained a number of pages displaying hand lettered alphabet examples. One sample in particular stood out for its bold Art Deco look and unusual design. This is now available as Dance Moderne JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

Tequila… I have to admit that I am not a drinker. I do like Tequila, though, even though I can’t remember when I last had a shot. Tequileria is a very recognisable inline display style font. It would look great on posters and book covers, packaging and even bottles (with or without tequila). Comes with an abundance of diacritics.

The 1920 edition of “How to Paint Signs and Sho’ Cards” by E. C. Matthews offered a number of examples of then-modern lettering styles for sign painters and show card writers. A bold display alphabet made with a round lettering nib is now available as Show Card Pen JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

Named after its place of birth, Brunswick (Melbourne, Australia), this black display face builds upon the rich heritage of Cooper Black whilst minimizing the more cartoon-like aspects of the original and basing it on a very sturdy broad serif. With its solidity responding well to tight kerning, Brunswick Black features not only small caps but also petite caps.

Why not take a giant leap back to the 1970s? Rakia is a science-fiction inspired font, with classic overtones of the 70s. Alternatively, it is a 1970s font with scoff overtones. Take your pick! It’s an all capitals face, with a strong suggestion of speed and motion about it. A wonderful display font and fun to use!

Tiresias was designed for subtitling by Dr. John Gill from the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB), in the United Kingdom. The Tiresias font is designed to have characters that are easy to distinguish from each other, especially important for the visually impaired. The following key factors were considered during the design process: character shapes, relative weight of character stokes, intercharacter spacing, and aspect ratios that affect the maximum size at which the type could be used. The benefits of the Tiresias font are greatest on lower resolution displays, such as televisions, train and airline information terminals, and low resolution displays on wireless communication and handheld devices. InfoFont is for printed instructions on public terminals where legibility is the primary consideration; these instructions are often read at a distance of 30 to 70 cm. Infofont is not designed for large quantities of text. The Tiresias LPfont is a large print typeface specifically designed for people with low vision. Large print publications should be designed to specifically help with reading problems, and should not just be an enlarged version of the ordinary print. The Tiresias LPfont family, made up of roman, italic, and bold weights, was designed to address and solve these issues. The RNIB developed PCfont for people with low vision to use on computer screens. It is designed for use at larger sizes only. PCfont includes delta hinting technology in the font to ensure pixel-perfect display at key sizes. Signfont is for fixed (not internally illuminated) signage. The recommended usage is white or yellow characters on a matt dark background. Note that the “Z” versions have slashed zeroes, and are identical in all other respects. These faces were developed together with Dr. John Gill of the National Institute of the Blind, Dr. Janet Silver; optometrist of Moorfields Eye Hospital, Chris Sharville of Laker Sharville Design Associates, and Peter O'Donnell; type consultant. Tiresias himself is a figure from Greek mythology, a blind prophet from Thebes.

Monospaced but no mono space. Created from 2002 to 2007 this font family is influenced by fonts like OCR-B, DIN and the work of Erik Spiekermann. Newsletter is not a real monospaced font but has the ease of recognition these fonts have - even though these fonts are often criticized for their aesthetic qualities. Newsletter has a computer-related impression but is more legible and aesthetic than real monospaced fonts are. Since 2006 Newsletter is the corporate font of the design agency "die Typonauten". It is eminently suitable for correspondence use. After a testing period and fine tuning it is now published.

Spiraltwists is a family of 2 fonts giving assorted spiral shapes. In each font they're grouped in fours - the same basic spiral in 4 different orientations (N S E W almost), and Spiraltwists has solid lines making up the spirals, Spiraltwists Antique has dotted lines making up the spirals, giving them an antique or rustic appearance. Spiraltwists has heavier spirals on Upper Case, lighter spirals on lower case; plus a group of spirals with a straightened outer end and connecting lines so you get two spiral scrolls joined together by a long line at the top or bottom. (inputting UVWXYZ into the text-box on this webpage will show it). The big example on the webpage shows it all more clearly than any explanation. A fuller description, plus the above example, are included in the zipfile. Please note: for the avoidance of doubt, the font does not contain any letters, the text in these 2 examples is not Spiraltwists but Luzaine.

This all started with a love for Jenson. I know there're hundreds of variations on that theme. But, that is where I began, several years ago. How far it came, as usual as I wandered through the vagaries of font design, is not unusual. If you've read any of my font design books, you know my design processes are quite loose and spontaneous. I wanted the general feel of a favorite old font, but softer, easier, and more comfortable. I built these on the same vertical metrics as my Librum Publishing Group. However, this family is not part of that group. I used the metrics because that shows my current taste in fonts. This family does work with the Librum group—but to be honest, I haven't experimented enough to come up with a good companion. I suspect I'll need to make another companion family. I may need make a non-modulated bold version also. But, that remains to be seen. I'm pleased with this.

LOOK OUT! It's kinda creepy, we know, but we're convinced that this font does whatever a spider can -- in fact, we believe it can actually spin a web of pretty much any size, and even catch thieves as if they were bugs of some sort -- let's say flies. In fact we'd almost go so far as to say that, in the chill of night (perhaps at the scene of a crime) this font may just arrive like a streak of light in the nick of time. We're releasing this font now not for wealth or fame, we ignore those things, action is our reward. The robust and contemporary sans-serif typeface Rethink, comes with strong characteristics. The typeface is made for work in text as well as in display. It features nine weights in two styles, including Small Caps, a set of contemporary OpenType functions, multiple figure sets and a rich language support. Rethinks main characteristics are the non-straight stroke endings and a slope that might come in an unexpected direction. Stanzer is an interpretation of wood type combined with the idea of modern stencils. Instead of cutting every letter, we are presenting an example of how a modern stencil typeface could look like, as we have come to the conclusion that almost every letter works without cutting it. Stanzer is a Unicase typeface, available in three OpenType weights: Black, Shadow and Block. Stanzer first started as part of our diploma 2010 (it was called Stanley at that time). The basic idea behind this typeface is that it is fully stencil usable, and, unlike other stencil fonts, does not require any bridges (except for the O and Q). Almost every letter can be sprayed without inserting planks. However, Stanzer also offers the display weight Block, which is only suitable for print or online usage.
