Diablo Light was originally called Fabric and was issued by the Farmer, Little & Co. foundry in New York. We liked everything about this font except for the lowercase 'g'. So we changed the offending letter, but for purity kept the orginal as an alternate. We created a bold version of Diablo Light, with minor changes to accomodate the bolder stroke weight. Although the original design is over a century old, the style seems to have an up-to-date look.

Nubian was one of the first typefaces ever designed by G-Type and is an elegantly proportioned, crisply modern sans serif family. Comprising five weights from Thin to Bold with true matching italics, each font also includes two sets of figures (lining and old-style numerals) and an extended European character set. In March 2010, Émile Fradin, a modest peasant farmer from central France, died at the age of 103. To his grave he took the secret behind one of the most controversial archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. A discovery which put into question the very origins of the written word and the paternity of European culture. It was the uncovering of peculiar artefacts would come to be known as the Glozel runes. The discovery of the Glozel runes On the first day of March 1924, a not yet 18-year-old Fradin was ploughing his family’s field in the hamlet of Glozel, when his cow stumbled into a hole. When he and his grandfather, Claude, looked closer, they discovered a mass of broken stone, under which lay an underground chamber. Within, they discovered pottery fragments, carved bones, and a peculiar clay tablet covered in bizarre characters that neither of the two could decipher. The family requested a subsidy for excavation works to be carried out, but were refused by the regional authority. With that disappointment, it seemed as though the discovery would fade into obscurity. However, the following year, news of Fradin’s unusual clay tablet reached the ears of the physician and amateur archeologist, Antonin Morlet. By the end of May 1925, Morlet began the first of his excavations.4 Within the first two years alone, he had amassed some 3,000 finds.

Aladdin Black is the 3rd member of our Aladdin Bold Font Family. This new style is extra bold and slightly rounded on the outsides of the glyphs. It is fat, fancy, fearless, forward, devilish, heavy, and stylized. Aladdin Bold was my first font introduced in 2012. I've always felt there were possibilities of adding styles to this family and something triggered the decision, so...here it is. I took much time deliberating over many of the finer details in this version of Aladdin and I hope the 'devil is in the details' for whoever decides to try on Aladdin Black.

Birch Beer JNL comes from lettering spotted on a European business sign found in some stock footage that was used for an old black and white film about World War II. The name is derived from a popular root beer-like soda sold by the Royal Castle Restaurants that were popular in Florida from the 1930s through the 1970s.
