The idea for the typeface Dekalb was born in 2013 after a day of photographing signage, murals and graffiti around Dekalb and Wyckoff avenues in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The initial drafts of the letterforms were first made into a single ultra-weight font that I used while working as the Creative Director for Sneaker News Magazine. After having made its first appearance in Sneaker News, I decided to expanded Dekalb to an eight style family.

Linotype Really, designed by Gary Munch, is a typeface family of six weights with italics and small capitals that offers a broad palette of expressions to draw from, sensibly light to brightly stentorian. The moderate-to-strong contrast of the vertical to horizontal strokes recalls the Transitional and Modern styles of Baskerville and Bodoni, and the subtly obliqued axis of the stoke weight recalls the old-style faces of Caslon. A strong belt of sturdy serifs completes the Realist sensibility of a clear, readable, no-nonsense text face whose clean details offer the designer a high-impact display face.

The bâtarde flamande is a style of writing used predominantly in France and present-day Belgium in the 15th century. The style shares an ancestry with other writing styles traditionally grouped as blackletter— fraktur, textura, rotunda, and schwabacher. It had evolved, however, into an æsthetic far removed from its relatives. While high-contrast in nature, the bâtarde flamande is more delicate and dynamic than the austere and condensed fraktur and textura. Quick curves lack the rigidity of the schwabacher and rotunda. Flair through swashes is thematic, as are the variations in letterforms. The flowing rhythm, achieved through a letterform axis that is overall slightly rightward, is most noticable in the hallmark f and long s. Round forms are fused together for economy of space. It is a writing hand that, with its syncopation and fluidity, produces a vibrance uncharacteristic of other blackletters. Givry has been created in the spirit of the bâtarde flamande. It melds the particular traits compiled from the works of the style’s prominent scribes—Jean Fouquet, Loyset Liédet, and Jean Bourdichon. While suitable as an elegant and energetic display face, Givry was conceived for setting continuous text. The result of many refinements and adjustments is the preservation of the style’s irregular nature, as well as a consistency that continuous-text typography requires. Carefully researched and developed in OpenType format for a wealth of typographic features and support for more than forty languages, Givry is neither derivative nor experimental, but historically accurate. Of the many blackletter digital typefaces available, fraktur and all its connotations have become representative. In contrast, the bâtarde flamande is essentially non-existent in digital form, and has until now been overlooked. Givry provides designers and anyone searching for typographic expression a lively, delicate, and striking side to blackletter.

Metro Nova comprises seven weights, from ultra thin to extra black in regular proportions, and six weights as condensed designs. Each has an italic counterpart for a total of 26 fonts. The family is available as OpenType® Pro fonts, which provide for the ability to easily insert typographic features such as ligatures, fractions and alternate characters. Pro fonts also offer an extended character set to support most Central European and many Eastern European languages.

West West is a high-contrast condensed display serif. West West has extra large x-height making it suitable for efficient choice for distinguishable display use such as headlines, packaging, magazines, posters and advertising, among any other. In large sizes, you can also try tighter tracking for maximum impact. With certain of Art Nouveau shapes and massive contrast West West is a great choice anywhere you need a stylish and fashionable touch.

One in the series of fonts called Whiz-Bang Wood Type, intended to be set large and tight. Spindletop’s ultra-condensed letterforms allow a lot of information to be packed into little horizontal space. Named for a famous East Texas oil field that made a lot of people rich in the early part of the twentieth century. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode 1252 Latin and Unicode 1250 Central European character sets.

Clio, Clio XS and Clio Condensed is a big family of 72 fonts. They were designed by Gabriel de Souza in 2012. They are simple and stylish and they have the ideal appearance to your work. Furthermore, features such as italics, obliques, great language support and flexibility. They can be applied in many differents form but their primary use is indicated to display use and luxurious trade mark creation and also available for Clio Icons.

Tenby is a series of modular geometric display sans serif fonts with a hint of Art Deco combined with a 1980s finish. The fonts' underlying grid is ten squares high. Their widths correspond to condensed (Tenby Four), normal (Tenby Five) semi-extended (Tenby Six), extended (Tenby Seven), and extra-extended (Tenby Eight). Each contains two weights, light and regular. Although smaller text sizes are still quite legible, the fonts work better at large sizes.

Neato Serif Rough is a hand drawn, quirky serif font with a textured, letterpress appearance. It features stylistic alternates, standard and discretionary ligatures, and swashes to add options and flair. The typeface has a unique blend of sophistication with its high contrast of thicks and thins and also playfulness with the distinct ball terminal characters—especially evident in the lowercase “e”. It is slightly condensed and great for display headlines, titles, packaging, branding, and more.

Dom Casual is a very condensed script, almost monotone, with irregular vertical strokes ending at different heights, and which suggests a freehand effect. It was designed by Pete Dom in 1951 for American Type Founders. As its name suggests, the Dom Casual font gives the appearance of a quick brush-like lettering and is suitable for setting titles, subheadings and short copy. There is some variations of stress in the rounded letters.

For years, the print ads for the Hickok Jewelry Company [renowned for their line of men's belts, suspenders, wallets, cufflinks, etc.] featured its name and related main line ad copy hand-lettered in a condensed monoline with Art Deco styling. This has been reproduced in Fashionable JNL, available in both regular and oblique versions. For those of you who are wondering: yes, the founder of the company was a distant relative of "Wild Bill" Hickok.

Mavericks is a condensed small caps serif with focus on strength and power. The Tempo font family was designed by R. Hunter Middleton and released between 1930 and 1931. The instant success of Futura in 1927 led to many similar designs, and Tempo is the version produced by the Ludlow foundry for large headlines in newpapers. Like Futura, Tempo font is basically geometric, but shows some humanistic influence. Tempo is popular for newspaper and commercial printing, and the heavy condensed font is excellent for headlines.

Within the pages of the April 16, 1938 issue of Liberty Magazine was found a hand lettered condensed typeface with a fun attitude that’s perfect for casual and informal titling. Because the art of lettering allows for taking liberties with letterforms, and as this came from Liberty Magazine as an inspiration source, it was only fitting that the typeface would be named Taking Liberties JNL. It is available in both regular and oblique versions.

CoreBori is a soft Serif font. The Korean alphabet is designed into ovals, and it is also reflected in English alphabets. With oval shape and condensed width of initial and final consonants are distinguishing factors in hangul.
