Crowfeather is a family of two distinct fonts: a classic Serif and an old school script font. They work really well together!

  15. Akagi by Positype, $25.00
Akagi started as a rough sketch while on a really long plane ride to Tokyo in 2007. I wanted to develop a sans that was a complete departure from my successful Aaux Pro (now Aaux Next) sans serif family. Whereas Aaux and its siblings are rather unforgiving and stark in their presentation, I wanted this new sans serif to "smile" at you when it's on the page. When the plane landed and I realized I did not sleep through the 15 hour trip, my brain shut off, the laptop closed and I hopped in the car to the hotel—forgetting the "new sans" folder on my desktop. Fast forward a few months and I found myself seeing a lot of crisp, rigid, robot-like sans serif typefaces everywhere... I enjoy these new crop of faces but wanted to see something "friendlier" and remembered my earlier sketch work. The groundwork was there screaming at me to complete and Akagi arose from the ashes. To be truly satisfied with it personally, a great deal of time was spent trying to create a harmony between line and curve in an attempt to show that you can be crisp, clean and legible and still keep some personality. The Light and Fat weights (regular and italic) are my favorites and I hope to see them as the workhorses of the typeface.
  16. Cabrito Contrast by insigne, $29.99
The Cabrito family is back again to make a statement. Released as a complement to the children's book, The Clothes Letters Wear, the original Cabrito is light-hearted, fun, and easy to read. Now, balancing this friendliness with a new elegance, Cabrito Contrast steps forward--a handsome typeface with an extra-sophisticated sensibility injected into the design. Still bright and playful in its Cabrito ancestry, this new Cabrito member approaches the field with a cleaner, more reductionist form, ensuring that its polished look retains the readability. Regular features and Italic forms of the 54 fonts include upright alternates, ligatures, and old figures. A range of weights include extended and condensed variants. To preview any of these interactive features, see the PDF manual. The family also includes language support for 72 Latin-based languages, and there are over 600 glyphs for further refining your work. Cabrito Contrast is best used for logos and packaging as well as flyers and websites, though its readability makes it a great option across a wide variety of works. In short, it’s well-designed just for you. Take a stroll with Cabrito Contrast, and see how much fun refinement can be. Along the way, take a look at a few other members of Cabrito, too and see how well the likes of Original, Inverto or Didone can pair with the new Contrast.

  18. Eroika Slab by Eclectotype, $40.00
Eroika Slab is a robust, display serif, intended to be set large. While for most serifs, display means high contrast, Eroika's "displayness" stems from its wide stance, tight spacing, equal cap and ascender heights, flared stems and large x-height. The italics in particular are quite unorthodox, with their vertical serif cut-offs and foot serifs where most fear to tread ('scuse the pun). All fonts feature a useful array of stylistic sets, oldstyle figures, automatic fractions and case sensitive forms. All ligatures are in the discretionary section, as it's my belief that this typeface looks better without them, but I like to offer the choice. Perfect for book covers, craft beer logos, boxing paraphernalia and tattoo magazine pull quotes. And probably a whole lot more besides!

Working together with the author we designed two new text versions: regular and bold – to give the family a form of a classic script triad. ☞ It is accompanied by three title versions and three contour styles under the name of Bona Sforza. All styles contains over 1200 glyphs. ☞ Bona Nova is an unprecedented typographic adventure for our team. We hope that our work will allow the cultural heritage of Bona and the work of Andrzeja Heidricha to gain new followers and fans. This project connected three generations of graphic designers who graduated the same school – the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. ☞ Bona Nova isn’t only a typeface. We have also prepared a book about the project (including an interview with Andrzej Heidrich, my text about the digitalisation and a font specimen).
