Magola is a creamy flavor font family whose purpose is to season with emotions the reading of words and phrases formed by puffy glyphs coated with a caramel of empty spaces external and internal. Independently or in groups, members of the family serve to decorate and organize packaging or advertising material in letters apparently crafted for food or entertainment contexts. Its starting point was to draw letters like a ballon fish evolved into a black version with empty areas and microscopic contrasted with colorful inflated and filled areas. Then the challenge was based on the sum transferred between full and empty into a lighter caliber. In that vein, its overall design adapted skeletons of italics and Roman calligraphy. Therefore, its regular, bold and black files have great height "x" with upwards and downwards extremely short and large internal counterblocks to facilitate reading. In this regard, to strengthen its objective and capture the reader's attention, its kind of contrast and simulated auctions flat tip brush strokes, and amount of contrast between thick and thin in the black version is slightly inverted. Its sizes, smooth strokes and irregular lines reinforce its traditional spirit, so it is favorable to shine the information on posters or large-format media. In short, its optical conformation based on a non-literal way, in metrics similar in all family members to be easily exchanged without changing the ìxî height. It is therefore a striking and versatile tool, that besides being useful in large sizes, can be used in small sizes as well. And more importantly, its general concept is more profitable when its members are mixed to nest headings, subheadings and short paragraphs, designed according to size, position, color and location in logos, covers, posters, ads and flyers.

“Loyolliams” is my first designed Latin typeface which has special meanings and unforgettable memories for me. The font's name, Loyolliams, consists of two mixed syllables stand for two different names. The first syllable is derived from the name “Loyola” and the second syllable is derived from the last five letters of the name “Williams.” These two names are related to “Concordia University”—located in Montreal in Canada—where I studied at a short academic term and spent in a very special period of my life in the late 2005. This renowned Canadian academic institution was created following the 1974 merger of “Loyola College” (1896) and “Sir George Williams University” (1926). This conglomeration formed “Concordia University” and the name Concordia itself was taken from the motto of the city of Montreal, Concordia salus (meaning ‘well-being through harmony’). This font comes in two different weights; light and regular. “Loyolliams” is a square, geometric, techno, and modern font. It is suitable for T-shirts, books' covers, websites’ addresses, advertisement light boards, and titles in technical, artistic, and other types of magazines and signboards. “Loyolliams” can be used also in posters, surfaces of electrical and electronic tools, digital devices and chips, geometrical machines, trucks, tractors, calculators, mobile phones, watches, laptops, personal computers, power equipments, digital cameras, technical magazines, and other digital and electronic tools. Alfarooq is the most widely known epithet for the Islamic figure Umar ibn al-Khattab (c. 586 - 644) who was a leading companion and an adviser to the Islamic prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who later became the second Muslim Caliph after Muhammad’s death (pbuh) in 632. Muslims widely know Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) as Alfarooq (i.e., he who knows and distinguishes between truth and falsehood). Alfarooq is a unique, wide, and headline Arabic display typeface. The main trait of this typeface is the novel design of its letters' tails and its dots which renders it as one of the modern stylish typefaces used for headlines and titles. This can be noticed in different letters such as Ain, Ghain, Jeem, Khah, Seen, Sheen, and others. Grava is Neil Summerour’s injection of warmth within the geometric sans font category. Historically, geometric sans families have been based on primal shapes — triangle, circle, square — and the more closely they held to those rigid rules, the more internal inconsistencies they showed. Angles won’t match up correctly, letters will lean, overshoots complicate clean typesetting, and idealized circles become grotesque and unwieldy in some weights. Because of issues like these, geometric sans fonts have a reputation of being cold, austere, even a bit “off”. TT Ricordi Allegria was drawn by Antonina Zhulkova and reflects in its graphics the transitional stage between the classic serif with varying proportions, gravitating towards the Roman capital type, and the Florentine sans serif. The font is characterized by variability in the proportions of characters, contrast between strokes, wedge-shaped triangular characters, and the absence of traditional serifs. The main visual feature of the typeface is its diversity and the ability, using different stylistic sets, to completely change the character and perception of the typeface. The drawing of the characters from the main set is strict, thanks to which the font looks stern, as if the inscription in the font was really carved out of stone. And with the help of another set, we can add roundness, or even smoothness, to the font. This is due to the fact that the letters (E R K Q J Y in Latin, and Л К Ж Э in Cyrillic) from the second set have either very noticeable "curls" or smooth, rounded "legs". In addition, the typeface includes a set of beautiful ligatures for use in display inscriptions, such as large headlines. An interesting moment when working on the typeface was the creation of the Cyrillic typeset, since the Cyrillic alphabet does not so easily fit into the concept of the Florentine grotesque and stressed semi-serif. The most difficult thing in working on the Cyrillic alphabet was to create a system of spacing for characters, as it was done in the Latin alphabet, and to make sure that when typing in Cyrillic, the drawing of the text remained beautiful. That is why the letters Д Л У Ы appearing in the font family are somewhat unusual to the eye, and the proportions of other characters in Cyrillic are not quite “classic” either. In general, the Cyrillic set looks more display than its Latin prototype, but at the same time it lacks the sense of historicity or legacy of the Soviet past, which often comes to the foreground when working on the design of the Cyrillic alphabet in this type of serifs. Iza W and Intellecta Design are proud to announce Invitation Script, a modern and clean revival of the classic work of the Portuguese master penman Manuel de Andrade de Figueiredo, whose work can be seen in “Nova Escola para aprender a ler, escrever, e contar (...)'' (1722). Invitation Script is the third script superfamily published by Intellecta Design, after Penabico and Van den Velde Script. Invitation Script has original letters designed by Iza W. Creative direction and core programming were provided by Paulo W. Chyrllene K assisted with some work on unusual and archaic styles, resulting in a special font - Invitation Script Archaic (soon available). Invitation started out from Andrade’s script style and evolved into a voluptuous script font family. The result is a typeface ideal for beautiful headings, signatures, art work typography, titles and short pieces of hand-lettered text. Invitation family includes two multi-table Opentype fonts, three supplementary fonts for ornaments and fleurons, and the Archaic font with some of the Andrade’s original characters. In the late 60’s, one of the best art publications in the country was Motive magazine, published (amazingly) by the United Methodist Church. Filled to the brim with poetry, essays, line drawing and woodcuts, it also featured some cutting-edge typography. Boxy/Code is based upon my memories of woodcut typography from that great magazine. Since Boxy/Code ’s lowercase consists of the uppercase’s negative spaces, it’s easy to combine the two with Layer Styles in Photoshop in order to achieve the effect I used in one poster above. It also works great if you use a well-known text as a background. This new version is totally redrawn and features all the Latin-accented letters. Uppercase consists of black capitals in boxes; lowercase features the negative spaces of those boxed capitals. Uppercase and lowercase line up exactly for 2-color effects.

Quase is a very free interpretation of the types found in the “Specimen of Printing Types” by William Caslon from 1785. We didn’t want to follow any of the models introduced in the Specimens, but rather gather a series of typographic aspects that we found useful and interesting from the several sizes and styles available and then give them consistency and new proportions so they could fit our very own purpose. We wanted to start with Caslon and then transform it into an editorial typeface, hence the increase of the x-height and the radical reduction of the ascenders and descenders. Despite the Display, Headline and Text fonts we also wanted to make a single weight Poster version with, inspired by the mechanical script introduced in the Double-Pica Script, to be used in magazines or as a complementary display typeface.

Cal Roman Black is one more font from the PKG “Cal” (Calligraphic) group. This time for calligraphic sketches we used a wide brush instead of the iron pen. Instead of minuscule letters, there are Small Caps (which are almost the same weight as capitals). There was an intention to keep the spacing as small as possible, because of that, there is no obvious difference in the stroke thickness of the capitals and the lowercase capital letters. The difference in height is only one-third of the brush-width. Cal Roman Black font is rhythmic, informal, dark and hefty... romantic and strong at the same time (just like Ferdinand).
