MRF wanted to expand that a little bit further and added a Medium, Alternates and a set of Ornaments to make the family complete and versatile.

One of my earliest memories of being able to write - an exciting skill - was of writing with my finger in the fine soft sea sand. I remember the freedom - I had no fear of making mistakes, of smudging ink or of doing anything wrong - and the ease with which I could write or wipe out any thing in the sand. Designing SandWriting was a tribute to those early memories. The font was an attempt to capture the simplicity and ease of a finger effortlessly making its mark in the sand. It can be used in many ways: in menus and invitations, in newsletters and advertisements, and in scrapbooks and brochures. It might be particularly useful for written material aimed at younger people. SandWriting contains all upper and lower case characters, all punctuation and special characters as well as all accented and standard European characters.

Living from 1545 in Lyon, France, the famous punchcutter Robert Granjon created a typeface that looked like his own handwriting. The first book printed with this font, in 1557, was probably Dialogues de la vie et de la mort by Innocent Ringhier. We offer the complete typeface. The typeface used in this publication has been taken as the main reference for the design of a new type family. Labernia is a didone design that includes several variations in width, weight, and contrast. Labernia is a stylish typeface, which pushes its design features to the limit. The high-contrast strokes—seen in most modern typefaces—give a delicate softness to the titling cuts of Labernia. Meanwhile, the characters in the condensed version have a very compact body so they create a highly expressive text. In the italic letterforms, the long terminals aim to connect the characters without touching. And, if we look at the figures we will see a more decorative design, which helps to build a strong personality.

MIR Next is a growing multi-script type family best described by the terms “humanist–semi–slab-serif”. Its character set contains Latin and Cyrillic, both extended, as well as Greek, covering more than 100 languages. Strong personality along with consistency between language systems were a basic aim when designing the family. As a result MIR has become a great tool for branding and international identities. A wide choice of symbols and numbers makes it also very useful for statistics, texts about mathematics and the sciences. Serious things are best be said in an unpretentious, relaxed way. MIR gives typography exactly that kind of appearance. Its texts emit a sense of authority but stay easily accessible at the same time. MIR’s name comes from the old Russian word Мир meaning both “world” and “peace” – a unity we will hopefully take for granted sometime in the future.

CA Saygon was originally conceived for a large corporate design project, but as this was never implemented, the way was free to make a public font. As a striking corporate typeface, it transports the fractions of a society after the post-modernist phase. After hundreds of sketches a bunch full of letters were selected, some of them quite twisted, others rather conventional. The combination of these letters reflects a rebellion of individuality but also leads to a coherent typeface. Since the 2006 launch of Rennie Mackintosh Glasgow, the world’s first lowercase Mackintosh-style typeface, designer George R. Grant has been pleased with its acceptance by Mackintosh lovers around the world. In fact, “Glasgow” has proved to be as popular as the original “founding” font, the classic Charles Rennie Mackintosh Font. By modifying many of these letterforms, and giving a more “freehand” shaping, George has developed this latest offering. The font has irregular “serifs” at the extremities of each stem - a suggestion of being handwritten. The name “Allan Glens” comes from the high school Mackintosh attended which, coincidentally, George did too. Says George, “As the school no longer exists, I wanted a way to perpetuate the Allan Glen’s name in type. I can think of no better way than associating it with the name of one of the school’s most famous sons. One of the glyphs even features the school logo”.

This font is mainly inspired from the engraved characters of a German Map depicting Germany's roads and parts of surrounding lands, edited in Berlin probably in the end of 1700's. The engraver was Carl Jaeck or Jaek (1763-1808). The Map was bought by the French napoleonic general Louis Pierre Delosme (1768-1828) probably during the Napolenic campaign against Germany, circa 1805 or at least 1806, his sole staying in Germany.
