I built the Orchid Key font family from the ground up with the idea that there would be several different styles; the Inline Spurs style was the first to be built, which let me then subtract the spurs, inline slices, or both to make the other styles. I've never made a font quite like this before, which shows in the time it took - it's been over 5 months since I started construction! Each style contains the same character set, with 700 total glyphs. Each has the usual basics: letters, numbers, and punctuation; plus over 300 extended Latin characters for language support, and almost 200 alternates for tons of variety! There's a swash alternate for every uppercase letter, at least 6 alternates for every single lowercase letter, and a set of 10 extra swashes and flourishes so you can customize! Katsudon is a Japanese crumbed and deep fried pork cutlet, typically served on rice with egg drizzled over it. There is also a chicken variety. I have been to Japan numerous times (it is my favourite country) and each time I revelled in the great variety of foods being served in street stalls and hole-in-the-wall eateries. I especially love the grandma-and-grandpa eateries that are tucked away in alleys behind the major shopping streets. They never speak English and my Japanese is shaky (to say the least), but the food is always good and we always seem to understand each other. This year, I couldn’t travel to Japan, because of the Covid outbreak, but I can tell you that I miss Japan a lot! Katsudon is a crumbed and deep fried font. Type designer Hannes von Döhren created Brevia, a soft sans-serif type family consisting of seven weights plus matching italics. Veranda Poster was derived from a European art supply manufacturer’s logotype done in the Vienna (Wien) Austria style. This distinctive classic style was used by artists such as Julius Klinger and Willy Willrab in the 1920s. Two new faces have been added to the original version - Veranda Poster Small Caps and Veranda Poster Alternates. Here is an extensive collection of capital and small cap alternates plus a wide selection of figures for almost any use. The contemporary alternate additions have a slightly Russian flavor. The combination of all three styles makes for striking logo and display settings. All three styles are now available in the OpenType Std format. Houschka Alt Pro is a carbon copy of the Houschka Pro family with one key difference: the rounded signature glyphs A & W on the default positions swap places with their straight alternates. Houschka was named after Georg Houschka, a sadly defunct confectioner’s shop in Salzburg, Austria, which had a wonderful 1930s frontage and distinctively rounded letterforms in the sign above the door. Houschka Pro is the follow up to the original Houschka type family which first appeared back in 1999. I made the first sketches for Brocha when I first visited Easter Island in 2011. I took inspiration from pre-Columbian art for such sketches, but I must say that they were kind of rough and clumsy; it was an experimental and limited-use typeface. It took a long time, but thanks to my learning about type design gained over the years, I have finally been able to complete my project. I have made sure to preserve the Latin American spirit of my original designs in order to give my final typeface an expressively handmade, highly humanist look. Drystick is a Sans Serif typographic family of Geo-Grotesque style with 8 pesos plus the italic versions all include small capital letters the symbol of Bitcoin (b #) and other cryptocurrency symbols. ITC Typados is the joint effort of Roselyne and Michel Besnard and is composed of characters in two different senses of the word. Ahra from Magpie Paper Works is an upright, hand-lettered script full of fun calligraphy. This Opentype font was created with a pointed pen & ink, and features a host of special features. Doretypo was born accidentally, during the design of a poster for a jazz festival in Rome. I was going to realize a typesetting, but I could not find the right character and decided to draw the letters I needed, starting from the first letter of the headline, capital M. I was looking for a lettering able to evoke musical notes, where each letter could be linked to the following one, to the previous one, to the largest at the top and the smallest at the bottom. From this idea doretypo came to life gradually. In the beginning there were a few medium capital letters with very few glyphs, but given the good results I decided to decline in light and bold, integrating minuscule letters, for a whole of 374 glyphs. Today doretypo OpenType is a family of fonts with three weights, 374 glyphs, supporting about 57 languages, ligatures standard, plus a new “NY”. One day shortly after Christmas 2004, the art-director of Vogue Moscow called me. Would I maybe make a Cyrillic version of my Bodoni Classic Text typeface? Well, since I had been thinking about doing it since a long time, this was the perfect reason to finally do it. It was not an easy venture, since I do not have the faintest idea of Russian but, together with those nice people in Russia and a fellow helpful type designer in Kiev, I managed. I did an enormous amount of kerning, thanks to the help of the Moscow Vogue office. Here the fonts are now for all of you: five text cuts, plus one standard roman cut that has no Cyrillic letters but an extra set of medieval numbers. At Vogue they are happy with the fonts, even though I did not quite adhere to Bodoni's originals in this case. Nastarowje (or whatever you say in Russia), Gert Wiescher

SansduskiMono is a sans-serif decorative/display family that is monospaced. Its very high x-height and tight spacing make it more suitable for use at large point sizes than small point sizes. (There are better options if one wants a readable text font.) The letter O is a rectangle with rounded corners and this shape motif is carried over to other characters that are usually rounded. The origin of this face is in a previous typeface, BigStripesMono. That family was designed to use the OpenType feature Contextual Alternatives (calt) to put stripes on letters. It had only upper-case letters in one weight. SansduskiMono adds lower-case letters and eight more weights plus italics and outline styles for the black weights. For a proportional rather than monospaced version of this design idea, see Sansduski. SansduskiMono is appropriate for titles, posters, advertising, and other uses that benefit from simple letter forms that are geometric and clean.
