HWT Brylski is a typeface by Nick Sherman, named for retired wood type cutter Norb Brylski and designed to be cut as wood type at the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum. This font is the digital counterpart to the wood type made as part of the Hamilton Legacy Project . It incorporates several themes that were common in 19th-century type design, including split tuscan serifs with angled mansard-style sides, heavy weight placement at the top and bottom of letters (traditionally referred to as French or Italian/Italienne, regardless of any actual relation to those countries), and an extended overall width. This digital version contains over 400 glyphs for full European language coverage.

No telling how old this font is, because it came from Hamilton, a firm that was late in the wood type business, but was the repository of many older patterns from earlier wood type makers. Great circus look to it. Some missing characters drawn at Solotype.

Medallion Ornaments is a collection of 185 circular ornaments based on plants, creatures, flourishes, geometric shapes, and ornate designs from historical sources.

Wood Clarendon JNL is based on Hamilton Clarendon Condensed (circa 1899) and is available in both regular and oblique versions. The design of this typeface retains many of the charming (but slight) design irregularities often found within pantograph-cut wood type from the 1800s through the early 1900s.

Gothic is a basic sans serif with thick strokes and minimal contrast. Designs of this nature first appeared in wood type catalogs around the 1840s, and proved extremely popular in advertising and broadside printing. This version is based on a wood type design manufactured by Hamilton Manufacturing Company.

The inspiration source for Carnivale Monogram is an elegantly sexy antique of typographic history. Known as Romantiques No. 3 or Ornate No. 2, this fantastic typefaces has been digitally revived and expanded for monogram designs. While this typestyle was never originally intended for monograms, its ornate nature lends itself so wonderfully to the craft. Described as “An extended script type that lends itself well to fine fashion, ready-to-wear and all quality merchandise” in a marketing blurb pitching Beaufont by the Morgan Sign Machine Company of Chicago for their Line-O-Scribe sign printing system. This advertising script font was originally manufactured exclusively for Morgan Sign under license by the Hamilton Wood Type Manufacturing Company. The source patterns and original artwork for this typeface exist in the archives of the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum, and were used for this fresh digitization of this font. This digital take includes alternate letters as originally designed in the mid-century wood type version, and now includes a full extended latin character set with over 350 characters.

Diplomat was designed in response to Portfolio’s very ornate script - a much more legible and formal script that has plenty of flare but without the elaborations. It is still more ornate than Duet so if you need to find a script right in between Portfolio and Duet, Diplomat will do the trick! Cartelle is a sexy small caps bitmap design characterized by it's whimsical curls and ornate flourishes. It's inspiration came from a French poster design from the early 1900's.

Wood Sans Narrow JNL is based on examples of an extra condensed Hamilton Wood Type. The design was cleaned up a bit to provide more uniform stroke widths, but still retains the nostalgic feel of a tall, narrow type face found on broadsides and posters of the late 1800s. It is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A wooden face, rather prosaically named Gothic Bold, from Hamilton's 1889 specimen book provided the pattern for this bold and brassy face. Both versions support the Latin 1252, Central European 1250, Turkish 1254 and Baltic 1257 codepages.

Freda Sack and Colin Brignall collaborated to produce the Victorian typeface. Their work was inspired by late 19th century display letterforms, and they sought to create a new ornate font in the same style. Victorian superbly reflects the refinement of the late 19th Century. Gothic Round was first introduced as wood type by the George Nesbitt Co. in 1838. The font is a softened variation of a standard heavy Gothic typeface. The style evokes a much more recent history of the 1960s and 70s and can be seen in such places as donut shops and on children's toys as well as inspiration for such fonts as VAG Rounded. Gothic Round has not previously been available as a digital font until now. The font was digitized by Miguel Sousa from a wide variety of historical sources, including visits to the Cary Collection at RIT (Rochester, NY), WNY Book Arts Center (Buffalo, NY) and the Hamilton Wood Type Museum (Two Rivers, WI).
