“Byblos” is the name of a town in Lebanon and the name of a famous hotel in St. Tropez. Some time ago I discovered their original logo in an old french magazine, just 5 by 3 centimeters small without any text, address, telephone number not even a picture. They did not need that, that’s how famous the hotel and its old logo was. Well they abandoned their identity when the place was sold to a big chain – I think. But the logotype, just those five letters inspired me to this new font. It evokes times past and has a little Bauhaus in it – as well as a really modern touch, all depends on the way you use it. Hello! Let me introduce Cohen – a handwritten font named in memory of the great poet and singer Leonard Cohen. On the day he passed away I did my routine calligraphy practice and wrote a part of his song 'Night Comes On'. You may see this work in presentation pictures, and after time I designed a font based on this calligraphy. Cohen signature font is perfect for logos, branding, web, blog headlines, invitations, magazine and book design, product packaging – or for any text on postcards and on your favorite photos. Cohen includes: a standard set of characters with wide multilingual support: Western-, Central- and Eastern-European, Baltic, Turkish, Latin-type Africans, and Asian (94 languages in total) two additional character sets: lowercase letters with alternates shapes and lowercase letters with a little end-swash - for the position at the end of a word 39 ligatures for double letters and frequent combinations Cohen has a large number of embedded context-dependent auto-replacement features that give the text a natural, handwritten look and correct inharmonious combinations of letters. These features work well in many apps (even simple ones like Notepad/TextEdit), and if you need to customize their application – you could use programs that support OpenType features (for example, Adobe apps or CorelDraw). All these additional glyphs are PUA-encoded, so if your software does not support OpenType — you could access them through Character Map (Windows) or Font Book (Mac). Extraordinary impact and visual conspicuousness. Poipoi is a super 3D sans family for posters, logos and all display. The basic idea is not a brand new. The Stacking type system has been used since before wood type age. As you imagined, colored wood type(woodcut), many other engravings and contemporary printer machine print many colors separately with different printing plates for each color. Poipoi uses the same system for 3d effect. Please use Photoshop or Illustrator, or your favorite graphic design apps that can handle layers. Layers are the printing plates of wood type. King Tut is a restoration and expansion of the original Egyptian Expanded, a single bold face cut in 1850 by Miller & Richard, the famous Edinburgh founders. This aesthetic, though originally issued to help drive simple print advertising of those days, is perhaps the longest lasting genre of typeface. This aesthetic flourished in the later part of the 19th century, helped by the surge of similar faces from England (such as Figgins' Antique 6 and Expanded Antique), and became the defining index of the old American wild west that continues to this very day.
