The ballpoint pen woman’s handwriting As the name suggests — the Iris’ Hand is a woman’s personal handwriting, written with a ballpoint pen. Iris’ Hand is an amazing font — almost indistinguishable from “real” handwriting. Thanks to the over 200 different ligatures and stylistic alternates the typeface is extremely lively and varied. The ballpoint pen has its own characteristics, which are clearly expressed in this font. The stroke is not always uniformly thick. Sometimes only a delicate, thin line is created. Often it breaks off suddenly and leaves a gap. In addition to the normal version, there is also a light and a bold version. Handwriting is sometimes written more or less slanted. So does Iris’ Hand. The normal version is only slightly slanted. But there is also an oblique version that is significantly more inclined by 20°, which makes the script appear more regular and somehow feminine. The concept of Biscotti rised from a personal research into a system of styles that we commonly consider “vintage”. One above all, the Victorian typography that has been rediscovered and widely re-studied during the 70s. Today, thanks to the technology innovation in digital typography fields, Biscotti is certainly an interesting subject which expresses an appassionate and nostalgic homage to a vintage font, seen from the perspective of a technical inspiration. Biscotti is composed of two styles: the “default” and the alternative one. The first is of course more conservative and formal, while the alternative formally chooses a change of the diagonal lines into curves, so it creates a much more friendlier reading. Biscotti consists of 4 styles that can be combined by layers in order to form different ways of reading. This renewed effect increases exponentially the potential use range of this typography. Biscotti has 517 characters; and are composed for 220 latin languages.

This style has become the iconic fundamental of public transportation for the residents of Mexico City. In this edition, the lowercase types are an “unofficial” adaptation for the Tipo Metro CDMX, enriching the typography with a visual style of highs and lows, so the base design is dispensed with as my own work to emphasize the lowercase types exclusively, In addition, some accentuation characters have been added, extending their use to other languages. The types are a new proposal by Ixipcalli in the current year 2023.
