Fifteen hundred years from now, a man will be selected to go back in time to prevent a catastrophic event which turned his world into a dystopia. Sent back in time, he was enveloped in empyrean fire, the strands of energy that make up time itself. Clarence is a modern, original typeface that has been designed to have a warm and slightly antiquated feel. It is slightly too idiosyncratic for great lengths of continuous text but does work very well at both small and display sizes. The serif structure takes some inspiration from architectural buttresses (a structure built against a wall to provide support or reinforcement). The serifs only protrude a small way from the body of the letter, which serves to ground the letter and, because the serifs bracket (the curve) joins the vertical at a relatively great distance from the tip of the serif, it remains subtle. The italic variant draws on the roman but has a more pronounced and curvier serif structure, analogous to the cursive element expected of an italic. This serif structure is present throughout the italic, even extending into the uppercase, making it more of a true italic than the commonplace sloped roman.

The P22 Mystic font knows all. Aside from allowing for type design in a faux eastern script, this font peers into the world of the spirits for guidance and enlightenment. Sure it has small caps and ligatures as OpenType features, but it also has a special “oracle” feature which will answer your most mystifying questions. The design itself was based on an actual Ouija board. Somehow the spirits became embedded into the font itself and now when a question is typed, an answer is revealed—provided the Contextual Alternates feature is enabled. It is not known how the otherworldly harbinger was able to integrate into OpenType scripting, but who are we mere mortals to question this power? Ask and ye shall be amazed! The narrower and thus markedly dynamically formed lowercase letters have a wider range of contrast in terms of line thickness and have the appearance of having been manually produced with a quill thanks to the variations in their terminals. The lowercase "a" assumes a closed form and the "f" has a descender. The italic capitals, on the other hand, have been consciously conceived to act as a stabilising element, although the way they have been inclined does not produce a simply mechanical effect. Juxta Sans Mono is an experimental monospace sans, an extension of the Juxta superfamily. During the creation of the Juxta script, I felt that the aesthetics and the main idea of the font had promising potential and I started thinking about a pair for it. So the idea of Juxta Sans Mono was formulated. Juxta has several style-forming elements: 45° beveled or cross out bowls, squared m and w arcs and other unobvious letter structures. Despite its unusual and sometimes odd (f, g, m) letterforms, Juxta Sans is fairly easy to read due to its monospace font nature and wide spacing. Juxta Sans Mono offers great customization potential. It has two sets of stylistic alternates — [salt] makes a letter underscored, but keep it in line, [ss01] replaces some of the glyphs with different letterforms. The [case] function automatically adjusts the height of the punctuation marks to the neighbor letter and [onum] is a set of old style numbers. The Neuzeit Office family is designed after the model of the original sans serif family Neuzeit S™ , which was produced by D. Stempel AG and the Linotype Design Studio in 1966. Neuzeit S itself was a redesign of D. Stempel AG’s DIN Neuzeit, created by Wilhelm Pischner between 1928 and 1939. Intended to represent its own time, DIN Neuzeit must have struck a harmonious chord. DIN Neuzeit is a constructed, geometric sans serif. It was born during the 1920s, a time of design experimentation and standardization, whose ethos has been made famous by the Bauhaus and De Stijl movements in art, architecture, and design. Upon its redesign as Neuzeit S in the 1960s, other developments in sans serif letter design were taken into account. Neuzeit S looks less geometric, and more gothic, or industrial. Separating it from typefaces like Futura, it has a double-storey a, instead of a less legible, single-storey variant. Unlike more popular grotesque sans serifs like Helvetica, Neuzeit S and especially the redesigned Neuzeit Office contain more open, legible letterforms. Neuzeit Office preserves the characteristic number forms that have been associated with its design for years. After four decades, Neuzeit has been retooled once again, and it is more a child of its age than ever before. Akira Kobayashi, Linotype’s Type Director, created the revised and updated Neuzeit Office in 2006. His greatest change was to retool the design to make its performance in text far more optimal. Additionally, he created companion oblique to help emphasize text.
