  9. Shameless by Positype, $79.00
I will spare you the long-winded description this time and all of the motivations and witty innuendoes. Quite frankly, I forgot about creating this typeface and it sat on my hard drive for almost a year. Luckily, my daughter Isobel saw the initial drawings one day and ask me about those pretty letters and I remembered… yep, that happened. That said, time made this a better typeface… with fresh eyes and time, much was redrawn, retooled and expanded to something I truly enjoy playing with. Shameless makes extensive use of Contextual alternates to create a proper ebb and flow from letter to letter. Interestingly, there are only a handful of ligatures… instead many special combinations are accounted for solely by relying on Contextual Alts. Mix in Stylistic Alts, Swashes, responsive Titling Alts, numerous Style Sets, etc and you can have a lot of fun. I created 2 versions. A ‘Standard’ version that has 2200+ characters and a ‘Deluxe’ version that has 2400+ characters and an interesting caveat… I plan on expanding the Deluxe version any time I have an idea to add to the typeface… and as such, buyers will receive all of those updates at no charge (with updates going directly to the distributors). You get what you pay for… no insane discounts. Oh, and if you are wondering… Shameless is based on my handwriting using Kuretake Zig CocoIro pens. I love these pens.
  10. Shnixgun by Typodermic, $11.95
In the world of graphic design, the typeface is everything. It’s the foundation on which you build your message, the first impression your reader gets of your brand. And when it comes to creating a unique and memorable brand, there are few typefaces more distinctive than Shnixgun. Based on the venerable Franklin Card Gothic, this inky, textured typeface takes inspiration from the age-old tradition of metal type, infusing it with a modern, edgy twist. Its rustic, weathered appearance is the perfect choice for anyone looking to add a touch of authenticity to their work. But Shnixgun is more than just a pretty face. Thanks to its custom letter pairs, it breaks up the monotony of repetitive letters and adds a level of nuance and sophistication to your message. With Shnixgun, your words become more than just a series of letters—they become a work of art. But what really sets Shnixgun apart is its rusty texture. This is a typeface that wears its age proudly, with every letter infused with the character and patina of a bygone era. Whether you’re designing a vintage-style poster, a hand-crafted logo, or an art magazine spread, Shnixgun is the perfect choice for anyone looking to infuse their work with a sense of warmth, authenticity, and honesty. So don’t settle for a bland, soulless typeface. Let Shnixgun’s rusty glyphs permeate your message with affection and depth, and bring your designs to life with a touch of artistic flair. 14. FS Jack by Fontsmith, $80.00
a, g, k and y It was a forensic examination by Jason Smith of his existing designs that laid the groundwork for FS Jack. Jason made a list of unique characteristics that would give the sans serif font its typographic thumbprint, which included an unusually large x-height and slightly off-the-wall letters like the lower-case “a”, “g”, “k” and “y”. “I wanted to make something that was slightly uncomfortable,” says Jason, “and in doing so simplify the quirkiness down to a few letters.” Fernando Mello did “the rest of the cooking”, filling the design out and making the additional weights. Tipos Latinos Upon its release in 2010, FS Jack was submitted by Fernando, who is Brazilian, for the esteemed type design biennial, Tipos Latinos, where it was selected as a winner in the Families category. It went on to be selected for type exhibitions throughout Latin America and around the world. “FS Jack is a workhorse,” says Fernando, “but also very ownable and distinctive, and available in a good range of weights, crafted by Jason and I.” Corporate “FS Jack took a couple of years to get noticed and is still fairly underused,” says Jason, “which is good in a way, for our Brandfont clients that have adopted it.” FS Jack was chosen as the signature font for The Shard in London, from its signage down to business cards. Fontsmith also worked with Lloyds Bank to customise FS Jack into a bespoke font for the bank’s updated brand identity – part of Fontsmith’s Brandfont service, which you can read about here. Fat Jack Included in the FS Jack family – just – is FS Jack Poster, the super-heavy weight of the range. “That was a last minute addition,” says Fernando, “after Jason and I started talking about how much we liked Gill KO, a typeface that is almost comically fat.”

Eyadish is an entertaining, comic, and childish font. The name of this font is originally derived from two main syllables. The first one is "Eyad-" which refers to my first name and the second syllables is "-ish" which means characteristics of or relating to. Muslims widely know Umar ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) as Alfarooq (i.e., he who knows and distinguishes between truth and falsehood). Alfarooq is a unique, wide, and headline Arabic display typeface. The main trait of this typeface is the novel design of its letters' tails and its dots which renders it as one of the modern stylish typefaces used for headlines and titles. This can be noticed in different letters such as Ain, Ghain, Jeem, Khah, Seen, Sheen, and others. In addition, Alfarooq font has an Arabic character set which supports Arabic, Persian, Kurdish, and Urdu letters and numerals with a limited range of specific Arabic ligatures. This typeface comes in two ultra-bold styles (i.e., Alfarooq and Alfarooq-Pro) and more than 430 distinctive glyphs with a single weight for each style. Alfarooq typeface effectively offers diverse typographic and digital usages including mainly the very large and wide poster-size works. Due to its strong baseline-stroke, Alfarooq typeface is appropriate for heading and titling works in Arabic, Persian, Kurdish, and Urdu newspapers, magazines, and other printed materials. Nyxali exudes an industrial ruggedness, a typeface that is not content to be relegated to the background. No, Nyxali demands attention, with its rusted metal stamping style that creates an impression of hard work and gritty determination. This typeface’s design is inspired by a misaligned mechanism that is not afraid to show its imperfections. The result speaks to the rough-and-tumble nature of life and the willingness to get one’s hands dirty to get the job done. Nyxali’s alphabet is not content to be perfect; instead, it embraces the irregularity that comes with the cryptic stamping process. But make no mistake, while Nyxali may be rough around the edges, it is not without refinement. The letter pair ligatures are a testament to this, breaking up the monotony of plain, repeating characters and adding a touch of sophistication to an otherwise brutal design. With Nyxali, you can infuse your message with an element of cryptic allure, drawing in your audience with its mysterious and edgy charm. So, if you’re looking for a font that is bold, rugged, and industrial, look no further than Nyxali.
