Bisco Condensed is a small capital design inspired by hand lettered memorial wall art from the Harlem section of New York City. As a memorial, this design is dedicated to a type design colleague who lost his long battle with cancer. This font is a tribute to his strength and his liveliness. The original idea for Bisco Condensed was to capture the energy of those unique "streetforms" in a text/display design and encapsulate them into a lively & fluid type design with a high level of readability at all point sizes. Bisco Condensed is an excellent type for expressive display layouts. It works well as an independent design or a long with contemporary sans serifs that complement Bisco's irregular contours, weighting and bounce.

Despite being drawn digitally, Angeletta is a typeface in the hand-lettering tradition. It draws on designer Rob Leuschke's three decades of experience with pen and ink, including his time creating scripts for Hallmark Cards. Spontaneous and energetic, Angeletta is satisfyingly inky – with strokes almost spilling into one another. Its quirky personality and titling version makes it a good choice for packaging and social expression, while its distinctive character could work well in branding, perhaps paired with a more sedate sans serif. The Angeletta typeface is a calligraphic script designed by Robert E. Leuschke exclusively for Monotype. It is available in OpenType OTF and TTF fonts formats. Mouser has been an ongoing project that originated as a geometric sans of the same name before morphing into a similar, but entirely different family called TypoGraphica. It retains much of its earlier character such as limited contrast, high legibility, and tight spacing. Major changes were made for a simplistic, more cohesive look. This was done to maximize its usefulness for body text while keeping characteristics used for display purposes. Slices to top strokes are much more subtle with styling dialed down to a minimum. The impulse behind André Maaßen’s design of the Anno typeface was the design of a New Year’s card for the year 2000 (Anno 2000). His desire to create the perfect printed image developed into a family with four styles: Anno 1, Anno 1 Italic, Anno 2, and Anno 2 Italic. Anno 1 and its Italic are semi-classicist typefaces, with a high degree of stroke contrast, while Anno 2 and its Italic are semi-grotesks, with less stroke contrast. Both Anno 1 and Anno 2 are sans serifs typefaces, but they each offer a new interpretation of the genre. The Anno typeface may be used in a number of applications and sizes. And it is naturally suitable for New Year’s greetings and other cards, of course!

This is a new barely modulated, slightly narrow, sans serif font family. It has eight styles: thin, thin italic, regular, italic, bold, bold italic, black, & black italic grouped into two 4-font families: Amico Thin with the Bold; and Amico with the Black. Amico has the standard feature set developed at the end of 2007. It has many OpenType features and 654 character/glyphs: Caps, lower case, small caps, ligatures, discretionary ligatures, swashes, small cap figures, old style figures, numerators, denominators, accent characters, ordinal numbers (1st-infinity): lining and oldstyle), and so on. It is designed for text use in body copy. However, Amico really shines as the choice for heads & subheads when using Amitale or Brinar for the text family.

Sackers Gothic is part of the larger Sackers series, a collection of fonts drawn from templates for producing engraved stationery and social cards by Gary Sackers, a Charlotte, North Carolina intaglio printer. Many typefaces were made from similar sources, including Monotype’s Engravers series, as well as Jim Spiece’s ITC Blair, and Mark van Bronkhorst’s Sweet Sans. Sackers’ typefaces, which were initially made into photo-set type, were digitized by Compugraphic and released in the late 1980s. Sackers Gothic has since become a popular choice for conveying sincere and plainspoken language on dust jackets, posters, and of course, in stationery. The face pairs well with display faces of a disparate nature, and serves as a ready foil for anything requiring an air of typographic sophistication.

Big News! Tenez has been selected for the Tipos Latinos Biennial 2016 and Typographica’s Favorite Typefaces of 2015! Tenez is a Grand Slam display didone typeface from Plau. We designed it for a branding project, further developing the resulting logotype into a typeface we felt could solve many designers’ needs. Its origins are rooted in pointed nib calligraphy which can be seen in contemporary Didot and Bodoni inspired typefaces. But Tenez’s shapes are organic (these modern typefaces were originally cut by hand after all) – in fact that was the challenge we set from the start: to make a typeface as organic in construction as possible. This echoes some of late 19th century typefaces and advertising, yet we thought of it for contemporary uses. One of the several unique features of Tenez is its unusual Thin weight, in which the contrast between thin strokes and the black area left by the serifs makes for a typewriter-like personality. The italics provide a perfect counterpoint to the roman weights. Tenez was unapologetically conceived as a display typeface meant to be used large as in magazine openings, drop caps or everywhere there’s a need for elegant impact. The family includes support for almost all Latin languages available, figure sets for almost every conceivable occasion (tables, text, you name it), alternates for the quirky beautiful R (sometimes simpler is better, but not always!) and Q (with a nice big tail for that article opener). Tenez pairs really well with our no-frills sans-serif Motiva Sans and our cute vertical connected script Primot.

Based on scans of some 1906 newspaper headlines detailing the devastation of the San Francisco earthquake, Newsbreaker JNL is a modern take on vintage typography.
