Shift, Alphabet keys will give you caps Mah Jongg characters, tiles beside a letter of the alphabet. The "lower case" alphabet is the same letter font used in the caps but without a tile. The regular keys "1 through 9" are the actual Crack tiles with the correct oriental glyph. Numerals to match the "lower case" are found using Shift and the Number keys. The $ sign is the Forward Slash and the "¢" sign is the Back Slash Dragons: Left & Right brackets Nice One Bam symbols: Shift, Left & Right brackets Hitting Option & the keys, "A,S,F & C" will reveal attractive flower designs. After being abandoned for some time (not accepted, nearly forbidden), we would like to give our generation a blackletter from here and now. In 1990 I designed the font XLeafMeAlone. In 2006 I decided that it was time to improve it. Instead of adding to it, I created two new fonts containing almost 200 leaves: MapleOaks and More Leaves. Among the leaves you will find in MoreLeaves are elm, cottonwood, tulip tree, ash, hickory, locust, ginko, aspen, sassafras, hawthorn, beech, and birch. There are also a few that come from shrubs and I am not sure what they are, but they looked interesting so I put them in. You will not find oaks, maples, or sycamores--they are in MapleOaks. Why leaves? Because people like them. As a large part of the biological world that is all around us, leaves are fascinating in their shapes and endless variations. In XLeafMeAlone I took about 50 shapes and rotated them 180 degrees to give a typeface with approximately 100 glyphs. In each of these two typefaces, MoreLeaves and MapleOaks, there are almost 100 glyphs. Each of those glyphs is rotated in 90-degree increments to yield two families of four typefaces that should be very useful if one wants to create borders of leaves.

ITC Photoplay is another gem from Nick Curtis. Unearthed from the 1927 edition of Samuel Welo's Studio Handbook for Artists and Advertisers, the design's original suggested use was for title and caption cards for silent movies. A monoweight design that bridges the gap between turn-of-the-century decorative type and Art Deco, ITC Photoplay is both casual and stylish. And, yes, the cap S" is supposed to look that that. IronType (formerly known as Ironman) is an extra bold geometric titling face in the Art Deco poster tradition. A warm sense of strength and playfulness runs throughout this design. Triangular-shaped crossbars are some of its distinguishing characteristics. The face also contains some very amusing alternates. The tails of the alternate cap K and R extend below the line and the alternate cap N has a hump instead of a diagonal stroke. This project, «Dodo» was started in 2008 year as the first then modern revival for the Old Imperial Russian book scotch antiqua, used 120–170 years ago in almost every printed book. Still keeping the spirit of the Steam æra.

The major focus of my life and ministry at this point is book design. In the brave new world of 21st century self-publishing a new paradigm has arisen: the indie small shop. One of the problems is that all books are published as ebooks, and many books are published only as ebooks. There are two problems with this: character availability and licensing. The licensing problem is solved by including an ebook license with all of the Librum E fonts. The character availability is the core of the design. OpenType features do not work yet with ePUBs [though it is in the spec, if I understand correctly]. Kerning doesn't work, and so on. So these five fonts have only the 256-character [or less] ASCII set. A separate small caps is included. It has lining figures {proportional} and small caps instead of the graphics. The other four fonts have graphics to give bullet choices in lists, oldstyle figures {proportional}, and care given to character shapes so they will work better without kerning. VLNL Beatbox is a solid tech heavy straight stencil-face with a lot of character. It was originally designed as a logo for dj Markus Schultz back in 2004, who rejected it. His management couldn't read it, or thought people wouldn’t be able to read it. But Chef Donald DBXL found the concept interesting enough to finish it and has used it in many projects since. It was the identity font for the Battle of Amsterdam, a talent showcase in beat boxing and other skills. Beatboxing is a style of hiphop music (beats) made with the mouth and a microphone. A box is a handy container to store stuff. Like food, or fonts. We use a lot of boxes at the VetteLetters office. VLNL Beatbox is best deployed big, like in logos or headlines.
