Chicago Ornaments is a collection of decorative cuts cast by the Chicago Type Foundry of Marder, Luse & Co. of 139-141 Monroe Street in Chicago, Illinois. This collection was shown in their 1890 Price List. According to William E. Loy, at least some of them were designed by William F. Capitain. Chicago was one of the innovative Midwest type foundries, introducing the American Point System. These designs represent the late Victorian period. After 1890, with the posters of Jules Cheret taking Paris by storm, Art Nouveau gradually began to displace Victorian style. In type design, both styles competed against each other until about the end of the century. Designers may want to consider using these ornaments when using Victorian style typefaces, like our Cruickshank, Edison and Freak - as well as faces by others such as Karnac, Kismet and Quaint Gothic. Included in the font are a set of Dormer-inspired caps, numerals and a few other glyphs - also from the Victorian period.

Just before the end of 2020 all schools in Holland closed for the second time, because of an increase in the number of COVID 19 cases. This means that my wife and I have to educate our three kids at home. The kids are great and take their tasks seriously, but it is difficult, as all three of them require different educational levels. I am sure you parents understand. Trying to get some work done is virtually impossible, so my wife and I made a schedule and we live by ‘on duty’ and ‘off duty’ days. I was thinking of this when I created this font (obviously on an ‘off duty’ day). Home Education is a handwritten scribble font. It was made with a Sharpie pen (possibly used by one of my kids, because I noticed tiny ink stains on my wooden dining table…). It comes with all the diacritics you can hope for and lovely double letter ligatures for you to play with.

The 10th Regiment of Foot is a British military unit raised more than three centuries ago—and perhaps most famous in the U.S. for seeing action on American soil during the Revolutionary War in the Battle of Lexington and Concord and the Battle of Bunker Hill. Military Scribe is modeled after the compact, utilitarian script on the mid- to late-1770s muster rolls of the Tenth of Foot. I incorporated the work of at least three separate scribes, merging their neat old penmanship into a legible disconnected cursive. Perhaps the most versatile of all our vintage handwriting fonts, Military Scribe might faithfully reproduce antique letters, labels, lists, or just about any document of the period. A neo-grotesk with a bit more bite, this is Schizotype Grotesk. It's not your usual grot; this is purely display typography. Notches cut deep into the letterforms and the thick/thin contrast isn't always where you might expect. It's intended to be a challenging typeface - not beautiful or particularly 'useful' in any conventional sense, but it is at the very least interesting. In a world where everyone and their dog has their own grotesk offering, perhaps being interesting and that little bit different is in itself enough to give the face its utility. Besides, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What really matters is what you think! The melon (Cucumis melo) is an herbaceous plant monoecious trailing stems. It is known for its fruit, a berry summer season with a high water content and sweet taste. The Melon font, like the fruit in which has been inspired, is characterized by its organic shapes “soft” and heavy weight. Impresssionable JNL is a font created from samples printed from a vintage rubber stamp toy set. This is a limited character design without spacing or kerning in order to preserve the hand-made look of inkpad printing on paper. A few extra punctuation glyphs, a percent sign and Euro were added to the original characters. At smaller sizes (72 point or less), the letters resemble the imprints of the stamps, but at higher sizes, they take on a different look of deconstructed lettering.

Twentieth Century was Lanston Monotypes answer to Futura. In fact Saul Hess's redrawing of Futura is so close that this new digital revival includes alternates of the long lost original letterforms originally designed by Paul Renner for Futura, but were left out of the released version that has become so popular. 20th Century is a modern sans serif with apparent geometry yet still a certain warmth in its design. Eroika Slab is a robust, display serif, intended to be set large. While for most serifs, display means high contrast, Eroika's "displayness" stems from its wide stance, tight spacing, equal cap and ascender heights, flared stems and large x-height. The italics in particular are quite unorthodox, with their vertical serif cut-offs and foot serifs where most fear to tread ('scuse the pun). All fonts feature a useful array of stylistic sets, oldstyle figures, automatic fractions and case sensitive forms. All ligatures are in the discretionary section, as it's my belief that this typeface looks better without them, but I like to offer the choice.
