John Seddon (1644-1700), was a famous english writing master, the leading calligrapher of his time, and master of Sir John Johnson’s Free Writing School in Priest’s Court, Foster Lane. His portrait was drawn by William Faithorne and was engraved by John Sturt as the frontispiece for his copy-books, such as ‘The Ingenious youth’s companion’ of c.1690 and 'The pen-man’s paradise' of c.1695. Peleguer typeface is the reinterpretation of the characters that the valencias goldsmiths Peleguer Manuel, father and son had opened and merged between 1779 and 1783 on behalf of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Land of Valencia “in order to create a Factory letters. Then during that time, reached 6 degrees of open letters (small pica, pica, gross pica, text, great primer and double pica). It appears that the letters never were done, and were themselves Manuel Peleguer who kept the punches and dies, leading to create a foundry-printing which only came out 5 or 6 books or documents for the single year of 1784 . Kaat is here to stay and to evolve. Everyone wants to try to be that little bit different, but essentially we are all the same, with the same inherent needs, just like babies or children. We need to be fed, watered, nurtured and loved, the only difference is in today's world you can do all that from behind a screen. "Kaat" bridges that gap, transcending the basic needs of type, with the sophistication and fast paced sharpness of today, everyone wants to be different but we all stay the same, this is a reflection in the thickness and shape of each glyph. Burghal Design remembers the good old days, when people were not named Whisper, Zandren, Skylar or Dakota but were called Eleanor, Arthur, Edward and Irene. One menorah that I have long found particularly appealing was named The Tree of Life Menorah, a replica of which I gave as a gift one holiday to a kindly old couple who were neighbors and became friends. It had a simple, organic elegance that I see in the best of Art Nouveau sculpture. To me personally, Judeism is a celebration of life, like the triumph of the flower that blossoms in the crack of the city sidewalk. Just as Hanukkah celebrates the rededication of the temple and the miracle of the oil, it celebrates the victorious quest for freedom of the Hebrew people led by Judah Maccabee. Hanukkah represents determination and courage and faith — and it represents the presence of God in the lives of His people. It is interesting to note that the founding of the Albanian nation in the early twentieth century grew out of the resistance of the Albanian people to the imposition of Greek language and culture in the aftermath of the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. The typeface, HADASSAH, designed by Henri Friedlander (1904-1996), is my favorite Hebrew typeface. Thirty years in the crafting, I believe it is unsurpassed for its shear beauty, combining a subtle modulation of stroke with a simplicity and clarity of form. No doubt, that is why it has become so popular. For me, the Sîyn/Shîyn characters are especially satisfying. For a Hanukkah message in Hebrew, I would choose HADASSAH LIGHT for a headline and print it as large as I could. If, however, you are looking for a friendly, warm face for a seasonal message in a roman-letter based language, may I suggest BETHLEHEM EPHRATH. It will be as comfortable as a bulky, hand-knit sweater on a frosty afternoon and reflects the solid, encompassing, family orientation of this holiday. It was on the way to Ephrath that Jacob’s beloved wife Rachel gave birth to Benjamin and then died from her labor. Like most script fonts, it is most effective when set with both upper and lower case. Although this font is readable in all caps (many scripts are not), that does not make it a good idea. This typeface is the reinterpretation of a sample found in a French book, published between 1882 and 1893 and its author —Ernest Michel— lived between 1837 and 1896. This sample has influence from Didot, Scotch Roman and Clarendon (typefaces which were in use at that time). This reinterpretation expands the basic set for the contemporary era. Isabel Condensed and Isabel were made out of necessity to create a new font for children and teenagers, that could be enough friendly and versatile for text in words or even easy-to-read long texts. The purpose of Isabel is to combine all the nice and friendly features of the simple letters that the teachers teach to the pupils at primary school, as they starting to learn to read, together with the normal editorial fonts we read every day. In this way it generates a very joyful serif font, or even friendly font, with some conservative aspects. In other words, Isabel is a font that, despite of being a “classic features” typography, is proud to show its innocent and ingenuous elements, this gives to the font a new point of view. The family is composed of 3 parts: the regular version, the italic version and the unicase version. Each one of them has 5 weights. PF Libera was designed at a time of leisure with no particular intention for commercial use. In fact it was offered in the beginning as a freeware. In 2001, designer Charis Tsevis was convinced that it may have some commercial value, so Parachute obtained the rights to sell this typeface. At that time, we did not even imagine what would follow. Since then, PF Libera is one of our most successful typefaces. We have seen it being used in very diverse applications. From publishing to advertising to banking, to transportation, to retail applications. Food, beverages, fashion, automobiles, tourism, the list goes on and on. Bookseller Cp is a typeface designed for books and legible text at a smaller sizes, with an old book feeling. This typeface is the reinterpretation of a sample found in a French book, published between 1882 and 1893 and its author —Ernest Michel— lived between 1837 and 1896. This sample has influence from Didot, Scotch Roman and Clarendon (typefaces which were in use at that time). This reinterpretation expands the basic set for the contemporary era. Bookseller Cp includes small caps, old style figures, lining figures, fractions and basic Cyrillic alphabet. Everything in 3 different optical widths. You can save some lines with Reduced weight or fill some lines with Ample weight. All of them with italics, bold and bold italics.
