The inspiration for Deco Eccentrique JNL was initially hand drawn contoured lettering from a mid-1920s piece of sheet music; the style of the letters showing influences of the upcoming Art Deco movement. This was made into a digital font entitled Poster Contoured JNL. Once all of the excess parts of the previous design were stripped away to only the inner letters, the pre-Art Deco influences remained along with characters of varying stroke widths and shapes. This non-conformist type face is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Libelle is a 21st century English Copperplate Script typeface. Created by Jovica Veljović, a designer with decades of experience as a calligrapher, typeface designer, and professor, Libelle differentiates itself from other Copperplates Scripts because its letterforms are less mechanical. The hand of the calligrapher shows through the forms, breathing new life into this historic genre. Libelle includes approximately 400 extra glyphs, including alternate forms of many letters and special forms for the beginnings and ends of words. The font includes several stylistic sets, as well as ligatures and ornaments.

This is our first font, based on Peter's own personal way of writing uncials, The rounded letters of the fourth to eighth centuries. The characters in the caps position are more closely related to the classical Roman forms, and the lowercase position has letters that are the more rounded, medieval forms, at the same size, so they can be freely mixed, for a hand lettered appearance. This typeface is currently used for the titles in the TNT Television show "the Librarians". It was originally designed in 1998, and is now available in Open Type Format.

Stupid Meeting is an all caps display sans that didn't quite get its full 8 hours of sleep. A lot of attitude went into the design process and it shows throughout the entire character set. Architype Crouwel is a collection of typefaces created in collaboration with Wim Crouwel, following his agreement with The Foundry, to recreate his experimental alphabets as digital fonts. Crouwel's most recognized work was for the Van Abbe and Stedelijk museums (1954 –72) where he established his reputation for radical, grid-based design. Architype Vierkant was developed from the few letterforms that Crouwel created for an opening spread in a 1972 Drupa catalogue, on the theme ‘typo vision international’ – this single reference showed an interesting interplay of the experimental ideas underpinning his controversial ‘new alphabet’ and Fodor.

Make an impact with geometric cubes! The Cubista Geometrica typeface is a monospaced design created to form repeated patterns, either individually (single symbol) or mix and matched with partner charaters. This monospaced typeface is designed proportionately high as it it wide making it easy to form multi-line patchworks. Impact wide was developed from the designer's original drawings for the production of 'Impact' metal type, with many detail changes because of the density of the letters. These include the restoration of the bevelled i and j dots of the original. Character maps show some useful alternative characters in both roman and italic. Included are a crossbar numeral 1, mirror quotes and some sorts which were cast in metal but never reproduced in digitized versions of the typeface. There is also a font-specific Euro symbol. (Impact is a trademark of The Type Museum, London).

Hesperides is based on samples of Colonial period calligraphy. Rather than being directly derived from any one sample, some common characteristics have been emphasized to give it a more coherent and distinctive look, with the accentuated single-looped strokes on many of the characters suggesting a fully flourished style, but showing a bit of restraint. The ultimate effect is really striking, in the tradition of our Queensland and Allegheny fonts, but even more distinctive. The full version includes alternate versions of many of the key characters designed to reduce loop interference and add variety.

This is Tchig Mono, a monospaced type family that doesn't take itself too seriously. Why make a monospaced font? For coding, sure, but display? It’s my humble opinion that it’s the aesthetic choices driven by the constraints of the monospaced environment that makes them attractive. It’s a challenge for the type designer to squash and expand glyphs into a rigid bounding box, and the more unorthodox shapes that spring from this have a feel about them which lends them to postmodernist layouts and hipsterish anti-design. And the payoff for the type designer - no kerning! Yay. So what’s different about Tchig? Like I said before, it doesn't take itself too seriously. Even the name Tchig is just a stupid, fun sound (although it does show off that nice g!). There are a selection of playful alternates that give text a slightly alien feel. Stylistic set 1 chops off ascenders and descenders of lowercase letters, giving it a kind of small caps meets unicase feel (it is also accessible using the small caps feature). The other sets (or stylistic alternates if you don't have access to stylistic sets) make certain letters more twirly, more square, more “experimental”. Automatic fractions use a half-width numerator and denominator so fractions like one half and five eighths have the same width as figures (and every other glyph). There you go then - a monospaced type family not initially intended for use in the usual ways monospaced families are intended to be used. Give it a try. You could even do some coding with it if you like.

Patent Reclame manages to be light-hearted, while clearly showing its blackletter roots both in the shape of the individual letters and the rhythm of text on a page. The designer is unknown. Schriftgeisserei Flinsch of Frankfurt a.M. cast the face around 1895. Nicolete Gray shows a quite similar face called “Graphic,” from Stephenson Blake in 1896. Personally, I don't think that Patent Reclame looks like an English design, but I do not have any proof one way or the other. The numbers are proportional, intended for posters, not spreadsheets. Two ornaments are included, an art nouveau rose at #172 and a lilypad with long tendril at #177. Great for invitations, posters and flyers announcing fun events. Do not use for obituaries. Quite readable in smaller sizes for short blocks of text. I really like the buoyant quality -- a nice combination of discipline and enthusiasm.

Herculanum is a part of the 1990 program “Type before Gutenberg”, which included the work of twelve contemporary font designers and represented styles from across the ages. Herculanum is a work of Swiss typeface designer Adrian Frutiger. It takes its name from the city of Herculaneum, an ancient Roman resort town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows from Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD (the same eruption that destroyed the nearby city of Pompeii). Herculaneum's ruins are located today in the commune of Ercolano, Campania, Italy. Ancient Roman writings of the 1st century influenced the font's design. Herculanum is distinguished by its broad characters with narrow strokes and its willful character.

Legible, technical, clear—with a hint of retro: Compiler is a no-frills font family straight from the heart of a microprocessor. Inspired by console typefaces, the humanist sans serif typeface combines a large x-height with striking serifs on certain letters such as i and l. In the early 1980s, at the start of my career, I had the opportunity to work in a print shop with classic lead setting. In those days I would study issues of U&lc magazine from ITC. What really caught my attention were scripts in the Spencerian style. I’ve been fascinated by this American penmanship tradition ever since. A few years ago I developed a font. Boris Bencic used it when he was redesigning L’Officiel magazine in Paris. I took these initial forms and developed them into the font Mommie when I started my own foundry. Although I usually design text typefaces, working on Mommie taught me how complex it can be to create a script headline font. The biggest challenge in this process has been to keep it alive and fresh. The Regular weight is only made for very big headlines. The thin lines with the bold drops are very elegant. For smaller sizes use the Medium and Small weight. It won the TDC 2008 award and was Judges Choice of Christian Schwartz.

High Fidelity is our funky new variable font that was inspired by an incredible vintage poster we saw at the NYPL (sadly, the designer wasn't credited.) First we developed the ultra wide top-heavy style. Then, unable to resist the dynamics of variable type, we added the narrow width and violà our first variable font was born. We then added "drip" and "stretch" axes so you can play around and customize it to your heart's content. We think it works for anything from album covers, posters, social media, apparel - really anywhere you need a fun, expressive look.

Rapier, designed by Martin Wait for ITC in 1989, is an impulsive, energetic script font with strong ties to the brush and advertisement typefaces of hte 1940s. The zestful capitals contrast with small, narrow lower case letters, lending the font its dynamism and liveliness. Desinger Wait reached the energetic, almost aggressive feel of Rapier with snappy base forms and especially with ascending strokes. For an optimal look it is advisable to set Rapier's forms near to one another, so that the ends of the strokes of one figure touch the beginning of the next. Rapier is best used for headlines and short texts.

Circe Slab is a slab version of the popular geometric sans serif Circe . It contains variations in weight and contrast, including three regular styles that range from non-contrasting geometric to almost typical book serif contrast ones. In addition, all text styles have narrowed versions. The character set of the font includes small caps, minuscule figures and a wide variety of alternative capitals and small caps. Regular styles of Circe Slab are suitable for long texts and the light and bold ones for headlines. The font was designed by Alexandra Korolkova with the assistance of Olexa Volochay and released by Paratype in 2018.
