1920s-era sheet music for "Tangos Pour Manon" from Brussels, Belgium had the title hand lettered in an unusual style. The alphabet was square, had serifs and the thick-and-thin stroke weights that were more popular in the upcoming Art Deco years of the 1930s and 1940s. This became the working model for Torrid Tango JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Hanna has its roots in the Plato and Cilantro fonts published earlier by Wilton Foundry. It is an informal roman and very legible at any size - a rare combination for many applications. Hanna was specifically designed to generate additional income for an orphanage in Ethiopia. Hanna Teshome runs an orphanage of roughly 140 children in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She is an amazing lady with a deep passion for orphan kids as well as innocent kids that find themselves in jail because their mothers have been imprisoned - they are treated as prisoners and are typically sexually abused - it is not uncommon for them to commit suicide when they are released from jail at age 18. Most of the orphans end up with Hanna because one or both of their parents have died from AIDS. Hanna relies entirely on donations to keep her orphanage running and this font is a small but tangible way for you to help make a difference in the lives of the orphan kids. I am committed to helping Hanna after visiting the orphanage several times and seeing the jails from where the kids have been rescued. Hanna is my hero because she stepped out of her comfort zone, with no financial support, to take care of the kids. My hope is that you will use this font as a messenger of good. Wolfsblood is a new display face by Jim Ford, adapted from hand-lettered logos spawned by punk rock bands like The Misfits and Bad Brains. The style can be traced back further to Hollywood and the explosion of low-budget exploitation, horror and sci-fi films, which also had an influence in punk rock. Wolfsblood captures this bizarre dark-spirited lettering which has become a staple in the designer‘s work for bands and posters. The Wolfsblood font has an expanded character set with borders, dingbats (yes, Bats!), and contextual ligatures programmed to give the typeface a random appearance by default. As with some of Jim‘s other typographic experiments, Wolfsblood encourages the designer to play with upper and lowercase, and mixed-case settings, to replicate the decisions that a lettering artist might make. Lifeform is a modern display font created as a result of my experiments on the forms of letters. While working on the font, I had ambivalent feelings, on the one hand I liked the individual curved lines, on the other hand they seemed very strange, alien and illogical. It was like looking into a microscope and seeing something strange. I wanted to develop and study these forms as something new, because I had never seen anything similar before. The result is a contrasting font that has both curves and sharp, and smooth lines that resemble some kind of organic matter. The font is well suited for large headlines, posters and covers. Its strange design catches the eye and will not leave the viewer indifferent.

The famous lettering “Capital Trajana” (inscription at the bottom of the column that bears its name erected in the year114 A.D.) is usually identified as the classic example that defines Imperial Capital forms. However, much earlier, there were already countless examples of Greco-Roman epigraphy of excellent execution, as evidenced by the monumental inscriptions from year 2 b.C. sculpted in the Portico di Gaio e Lucio Cesari in front of the facade of the Basilica Emilia, in the Roman Forum, erected by Augustus, dedicated to his two grandchildren for propaganda and dynastic needs. It has been more than two thousand years and the forms of these letters are still part of our daily life, product of their qualities of readability and beauty. It is probably the added semantic value that have made them an icon full of symbolism that expresses majesty, monumentality, order and universal power. Numerous authors, calligraphers and designers have studied this legacy such as Giovanni Francesco Cresci, Edward Catich, L.C. Years before the "Jet Age", and way before computers and satellite television turned us into jaded "armchair travelers", the ocean voyage aboard giant steamships to distant ports of call beckoned many to travel the Seven Seas. Far away lands had a magic and mysticism to them, for few Americans knew anything about those places unless they read about them in books or saw travelogs at their local theaters. Many songs were written with themes of romantic South Seas travel, and one vintage piece in particular entitled "Down Where the Trade Winds Blow" offered up the hand lettering which served as a model for Sea Cruise JNL.

Kiperman is a text typeface designed in honor of Henrique Leão Kiperman, founder of the publishing house Artmed, now Grupo A. Its forms are simple and straightforward, with no unnecessary embellishments that could disturb the reading. The fonts are slightly narrower than normal, which yields higher efficiency without compromising reading comfort. Besides that, its italics are not just a slanted version of the romans, but rather a separate drawing. With a slope of 8°, its calligraphic structure provides the right amount of emphasis when necessary. The Kiperman typeface works best when setting books, magazines, ebooks and websites. It will also work very well in branding and packaging projects where a sober typeface is needed. The inspiration for the design came from the personality of the honoree. Just as Henrique always wanted to stay away from spotlights, the Kiperman typeface was designed so that it would not call attention to itself or impose any obstacles in the understanding of the text. In this way, the fonts revere Henrique’s legacy by respecting and honoring the published content. Henrique Leão Kiperman began his career in 1958, selling medical books in travels through the interior of the Brazilian states of Paraná and Santa Catarina. In 1973, he opened a bookstore in downtown Porto Alegre, the Artes Médicas Sul, and a few years later edited his first book. Since then, his company has grown to become one of the most important publishers in Brazil in the area of scientific, technical and professional books, with more than 2400 active titles distributed among the McGraw Hill, Bookman, Artmed, Penso and Artes Médicas imprints. Henrique passed away in 2017 at the age of 79. The Kiperman type family has been commissioned by Grupo A and is available for licensing. This was the way found for the fonts to be read by more people, spreading some of his spirit around the world.
