Liquorice Twist is a light-hearted fun font which developed from some hand drawn text designed to accompany and be integrated with some ‘Zen Doodling’ art that someone had drawn. It is very informal and unconventional, with the glyphs created using unusual and loose ‘rules’. The font has a set of stylistic alternates with equal height lower-case letters. It also has the option of alternate initial capitals and alternate ending lower case letters accessible via contextual alternates. A single-weight display font, Steel Grrrder Nutjob is an industrial-style stencil with a nut device. It’s best used in short display settings or as an introductory drop cap to grab attention. The capital letters sport an open nut while the lowercase letters feature a solid nut. Let me tell you a secret: This font has got absolutely nothing to do with nougat or France. I just love nougat, and I actually ate some while finishing this font! My wife is a good at making cakes, and lucky for me is that she too adores nougat - that way I often get delicious cakes with nougat :) Well, back to the font - a handmade rounded sans-serif, comic, organic, all-purpose with a playful attitude. Goes very well in both UPPERCASE and lowercase. I'd say you can use this for pretty much anything, but categories such as organic, packaging, kids product or sweets come in mind!

Al Seg 33 is a moderately dense alphanumeric display. The 33 segments are made up of eight outer segments, and twenty-four inside segments, and a center dot. It has five diagonals in each corner.

Since I designed Mommie you can see a lot of script typefaces with big contrast for big sizes. With Narziss I created a roman interpretation with the very expressive Swirls version. Glenda is again an italic script like Mommie. In the Regular the characters join and it looks like a neatly written sprencerian handwriting. But like Narziss it has got a Swirls version too. Every glyph and swirl is carefully designed to work in every connection. Use Glenda at only very large sizes.

Whichit contains typefaces designed with a hexagonal motif. The opposite sides of the hexagon are parallel but two of them are longer than the other four. It does not have reflective symmetry so flipping it over a vertical line returns a different appearance. One of these appearances is the basis for WhichIt and the other for WhichItTwo. Each has three weights and each weight has an italic style. The result is a quirky sans-serif family of a dozen faces.

Arab Brushstroke is a graceful, upright German calligraphic script. At first glance, Arab Brushstroke does not seem to have much in common with Arabic calligraphy. Yet the gracefulness of its letterforms remind the viewer that calligraphy is a global passion, one that can be seen in the Arab world as well. Perhaps that feeling was the inspiration behind this typeface's name? In any case, Arab Brushstroke is a good choice for use in headlines, as well as other display applications.

Tudor Perpendicular is Greater Albion's seasonal Black letter release (not that we rule out the possibility of non-seasonal ones...) for 2012. As the name suggests, it is a design which emphasises, and yes, exaggerates for effect, the perpendicular up and down nature of Black Letter typefaces. There's no particular historical basis for this one - straight out of our own minds, just as a lot of Black letter 'revivals' have been over the years. Come and visit 'Ye Olde' world today...

Preta, portuguese for a very pure kind of black, has its name very related to its concept: I wanted to make the fattest/darkest script ever. People who follow my work may notice its forms are very related to works of my past (1) but this time the challenge was to be very cautious with the white spaces between letters. Not only I followed some rules and ductus of the copperplate style of calligraphy but also I took a lot of inspiration in posters of the early Art Nouveau (specially in Alfred Roller of the Vienna Secession) where letters forms looked like black squares if not looked from a close distance. With Preta, I wanted to achieve that same idea of “darkness” and thanks to the always welcomed question -what if?- the font grew a lot. The result is a very fat font, that looks delicious. Due to possible customer needs, I designed Preta Small, so it can be used in smaller sizes. Preta Ao Sol (which literally means under the sun!) is a style with those lovely tiny details to give the sensation of bright. Preta Ao Sol Solo was made to be used as a layered font with Preta. Finally, Preta Capitals serves as a company for Preta. Hope you enjoy the font as much as I did when designing it: The fact that it’s full of alternates, swashes, ligatures and swirls makes it really pleasurable at the moment of using it. Stripwriter is a comic style font that has a multitude of uses. While not an original idea, this style of font is always useful.

Some time ago I bought my smallest book ever: Kate Greenaway’s Alphabet* 57 x 72 mm. I thought it was the sweetest little book I had ever seen. Not knowing about the fame of the designer Kate Greenaway (1846-1901), I put it in some dark drawer and looked at it from time to time. Kate’s books were all outstanding successes in English publishing history; she was an icon of the Victorian era. Some of those books are still being reprinted today. This little gem I had accidentally acquired has become very rare and I have not found any reprints yet. So I thought maybe I could adapt her drawings for use on today’s computers. I ventured to redraw her delicate illustrations, blowing them up 300 percent, being forced to simplify them without losing her touch. It took quite some time! While redrawing them, I discovered that she most certainly drew them in at least three different sessions as well. Then I scanned my drawings and put them in a font. To make the font more usable, I added the ten numerals in Kate’s style; the original does not have those. I hope she would have liked my adaptations.
