Inspired by both turn of the century neoclassical forms and Dutch Fleischmann Type, Garvis is designed to bring the character of those typefaces into more modern times by increasing the sturdiness of the forms without losing their character. At display sizes, this typeface displays the subtle inconsistencies commonly found in traditional metal type printing. This detail is designed to virtually disappear at text size so as not to become distracting while still giving the text a warm, human quality. An indomitable woman who traveled a lot, Emily Austin (Bryan) Perry was one of the children of Moses Austin, of Austinville, Virginia. Like her famous brother, Stephen F. Austin, she settled in Texas as one of that region's earliest colonists. While traveling about seeking treatment for a sickly daughter, she wrote many letters home -- letters that show a distinctively compact, legible hand. The challenge for me in designing the face: resisting the temptation to read and re-read her bossy directives and urgent appeals, all packed tightly together on a page. Emily Austin has a complete character set, and then some.

Narration is a bright serif font with classic proportions, that is inspired by the Renaissance as well as neoclassical tradition, contemporary design with a delicate sense of rhythm, clarity and legibility. Serif fonts, although reduced and simplified geometric lines, have a role model in the Roman lapidary inscriptions. Narration is suitable for the style that requires elegance and grace of the text, publications of historical, archaeological, artistic and other cultural events, as well as fashion, labels for cosmetics, wine... Character folders correspond to all functional letterpress requirements and contain all the glyphs of Latin European languages and Cyrillic.

The Confetti is a typeface created about 1930 by the defunct José Iranzo foundry in Barcelona, and imitates the forms and gestures of handwriting created with a round nib as “Speedball”Series B. The original typefaces were a pair, called “Escritura Energica ” and “Escritura maravilla”. The typography has a dynamic air, caused partially by irregular alignment of the characters respect to the baseline and aesthetics takes us to the proposed commercial lettering or advertising of years 20-30. Confetti was one of the fonts selected by the website Typographica.org in its prestigious list of “Our Favorite Typefaces” in 2006.

MyScript is exactly that: my script; only this one is for everybody’s use! Originally I designed it as a Christmas present for my friends and clients; they liked it. So I thought other people might like it as well. I cleaned it up just enough so that it did not lose its character. And, of course, I made all glyphs so that it is really useful as an everyday, unpretentious script. And ­I added a small cap version and a swashes version to give you even more reason to use it. Risoluto is an italic font made to mimic the beautiful italic typefaces used in the 19th and 20th century by music publishers. It was based on an italic typeface found in a publication by Max Eschig from the 1950s. Hundreds of specimen for each glyph were studied and carefully drawn in a way to have a sharp rendering without losing any of the old charm. The oblique "g" is one of the characteristics of such old typefaces. Risoluto covers a large range of languages and symbols and offers stylistic alternates for numerals, contextual ligatures and music accidentals.

The Ingeborg family was designed with the intent of producing a readable modern face. Its roots might well be historic, but its approach is very contemporary. Ingeborg’s Text Weights are functional and discreet. This was achieved without losing the classic characteristics of a Didone typeface, which are the vertical stress and the high contrast. The Display Weights on the other hand are designed to fulfil their job and catch the reader’s eye by individual form language and a whole lot of ink on the paper. Nevertheless both are of one origin and work together in harmony.

Kanna Aoki was designing fabrics and dishware for several major manufacturers when she designed MVB Cafe Mimi. The design came from a few words Aoki painted as decoration for a set of cappuccino cups. Aoki created the Regular weight for MVB Fonts using a brush. The Bold was adapted after digitization. Using several double-letter ligatures, the fonts can feel as natural and spontaneous as the original hand-painted lettering. Despite its curlicues and free-flowing forms, great care was taken to keep this script balanced and legible. It skips and hops along the baseline but doesn't lose its step.

Stencils have played a number of roles over the years, from decorative patterns to military markings; from labeling shipping containers to a student’s school project. One unusual application of a stencil alphabet was some metal letters spotted for sale at an online auction site. These antique letters were used for promoting the current show on a theater marquee just as plastic ones are used nowadays. Following the auction images as a guide, the Roman stencil font from those marquee letters is now preserved digitally as Talent Stencil JNL; which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Montigny is a contemporary calligraphic font with classical roots, based on an 18th-century roundhand script. Pardesi font is named after a song from Raja Hindustani, a 1996 Bollywood movie directed by Dharmesh Darshan. The lead roles were played by Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor. Together they sing: 'Pardesi, pardesi, jaana nahi', meaning so much as: 'Foreigner, foreigner, don't go'. I remember this song very well, as I was backpacking through India and Nepal at the time and it was played over and over again on all long distance buses I took. Pardesi font is a fat, rounded, marker-pen font, ideal for books and posters. It comes with extensive language support.

Designer Nick Curtis found the inspiration for this typeface on a 1920s poster for a German bookseller, by Berlin poster artist Paul Scheurich. ITC Jeepers retains the spontaneity and playfulness of Scheurich's original lettering and adds a few surprises of its own, one being the somewhat exclamatory ear on the lowercase "g". It was, in fact, the excited look of this particular character that gave rise to the font's name. Not to be outdone, the exclamation point takes on an even more startling demeanor. Oscar Niemeyer is one of the greatest architects of our time—his unique way of mixing straight lines and abstract curves gives rise to an unmistakable and characteristic style. This typeface is my own tribute to Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. The design process started when my wife and I visited Brazil while she was running a series of workshops on calligraphy. In my spare time, I would walk through the streets of beautiful cities like Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo, enjoying the local architecture and urban life. I had also the opportunity to attend to some of the workshops during which I was able to observe the organic of calligraphy and people. Then, I started to draw some shapes that reflected everything about this beautiful place: Niemeyer’s architecture and work and, in his own words ‘the curves on the body of the beloved woman’. This versatile typeface comes in 8 weights with matching italics, alternative characters, oldstyle figures and much more! Niemeyer is well-suited for logotypes, advertising, publishing, branding and corporate use. Fresno is a square gothic style typical of Mid-20th Century Showcard Lettering. A lettering genre known as “Gaspipe.” Signage samples similar to this still exist on buildings in my home town, Oakland, California. I have designed over a half dozen variations of this form over the years. Including Amboy. Golden Gate Initials, Matinee, Motel, and Hotel. Munchies is a reverse contrast slab-serif font family. Inspired by the volume and size of 19th century wood letterpress blocks and the Italian Caslon language. Munchies has 12 variants, from Heavy to Thin, with opentype options in a set consisting of uppercase, lowercase, small caps, ligatures, and alternate letters (A, M, N, V, W, &, Arrows, *). Munchies is divided into two subfamilies: Normal and Display. The Normal style has an appearance reminiscent of Western posters with a “measured” contrast. While the Display style takes the contrast to the extreme. Both styles are also available in Variable version. The inverted contrast makes it an interesting and striking looking typeface that stands out in any context. Perfect for headlines, bold branding, or animation like kinetic typeface.

LECO 1983 is a headline display OpenType typeface with its three styles: LECO 1983: regular LECO 1983 Blind: without interiors of signs LECO 1983 Negative: in its inverse form. The inspiration for creating this font came from the label on a 1983 bottle of Lečo. The characteristic feature of this font is an embedded diacritic. The monolinear character of drawings is dominant. This font is drawn as capital letter type for both: upper case and lower case letters. It contains alternatives of some signs (e, f, g, m, n, y) and (& and a glyph No) but it consists several interesting alternatives (ligatures) of pairs as (in, on, of, by) as well. This font is best used on strong posters or as a headline display typeface.

Linotype Flamingo, from German designer Michael Leonhard, is part of the TakeType Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contest 1999 for inclusion on the TakeType 3 CD. The figures of this font have pieces missing, the curve of an a, the stroke of an n. The eye fills in the gaps, allowing the designer to present a unique font with reductionist forms which can still communicate written ideas to the reader. A small number of forms come together to create the alphabet and the 'missing pieces' make a light and airy overall impression. Linotype Flamingo should be used in point sizes of 18 and larger and because of reduced legibility should be used only for very short texts.

The Parliament typeface was designed by Jonathan Hoefler beginning in 1995. A burlesque typeface in the Regency Blackletter style, Parliament was inspired by the ‘Four-line Pica Black No. 1’ typeface of William Caslon Jr (1821), whose enigmatic design for the letters E, G, I, N, V and Y hinted at a broader ambition to modernize the arcane shapes of the gothic alphabet’s capital letters. Parliament completes this project for the first time by including two sets of alphabets, one archaic and one modern, along with a third set of ‘small caps’ that restores to the blackletter the versatility of Roman type. Parliament was first used for the 1998 ATypI Conference in Lyon, and was published by Hoefler&Co in 2022.

Edison Swirl, with its terminals majestically looping and twirling in a circular fashion, quickly takes us back to the Victorian era of type. This unusual fancy face, which dates back to the early 1900s, distinguishes itself by employing splayed M & N caps. Some letterforms also contain double cross-strokes for added interest. Edison Swirl is full of ornament and detail which creates a truly striking pattern of intrigue and delight. Edison Swirl is also available in the OpenType Std format.
