Ekberg is based on a sample of poster lettering by Samuel Welo. It's got a spare but stylish and rather modern look. It's a bit of a change from our usual fare, but a gap we need to fill. Ekberg features more than one version of a lot of the characters.

P22 Acropolis is P22's tribute to the enduring contribution of Classical Greece to world culture. This set features two typefaces in the style of ancient Greek stone carvings (one modern: Now, and one of authentic ancient Greek characters: Then) and 52 graphic extras drawn from coinage and vase paintings.

Eponymous logotype lettering on an airline timetable from 1948 inspired this exercise in aerodynamics. This typeface’s streamlined design remains fresh, even sixty-plus years on. Both versions include the complete Unicode Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets, as well as localization for Lithuanian, Moldovan and Romanian.

Creeps is based on a series of drawings by Britton Walters. You can't escape the Creeps, they are everywhere! Be they looking at you funny on the bus or telling you about their collection of chicken bones in the break room at work. There is a little creep in us all.

Lutfey Arabic is new version of Lutfey with the addition of Arabic glyphs (Arabic, Urdu, Kurdish, Pegon and Farsi. It is a chunky & cute typeface, visually featuring bold, firm and gentle characters. Roma Initial Caps JNL is a set of alphabet caps drawn from elegant lettering found in an old sign painter's manual. The upper case keys have the letters in white on black backgrounds, while the lower case has the letters in black on a white background with a black border.

Above the Beyond is a font family that contains a high contrast Contemporary Garamond Serif and a Casual Signature Brush script. The serif comes in two styles - Regular and Italic - the italic angle is similar to the one used in the Script font. The main difference between traditional Garamond and Above the Beyond Garamond is that the ascenders are significantly shorter which makes the serif fonts more suitable for branding design and helps to reduce the distance between lines without scarifying the legibility. This script font was inspired by the type called “Bastarde Flamande”, a much appreciated one in the Duke of Burgundy’s court at the end of 1400s for handwritten books. A book titled Histoire Romaine (Roman history), from Roman author Tite Live, translated in French by Pierre Bersuire, circa 1475, was our main source for drawing the lower case characters and many of the upper case. Each character was written by hand with a quill pen on rough paper so as to look like the originals as much as possible. This font includes “long s”, naturally, as typically medieval , also a few ligatures, final and initial characters but there aren't any abbreviations because the text was written in French rather than Latin. Instructions for use are enclosed in the file and identify how to keyboard these special characters. This font can be used for web-site titles, posters, fliers, ancient looking texts, greeting cards, indeed for many types of presentations as it is a very decorative, elegant and luxurious font. Large type size shows this font at its best.

Bushing is a quick serif experiment going for open light display type. For years I have always stopped and really liked what I saw with fonts like the original Cushing from the turn of the 20th century. This time the desire for a font was stirred by Felici's article in CreativePro on fonts from the beginning of the 20th century, especially his captures of Cushing No. 2 and the version commissioned for Norwood press from ATF. I'm not interested in historically accurate reconstructions. My desire is for the general feel I get when I see a font. As a result, Bushing has little to do with Cushing (other than the last six letters). But it is a Serif font with small serifs and a huge x-height with a very open feel. I like it. I hope you do also. I made it into a limited display version of OpenType Pro. I added small caps and oldstyle figures, as I can hardly work without them. But ligatures seemed silly for this one.

The Quarantinus font was created during the 2020 covid 19 lock-down. Tranquility being all around, the JOEBOB graphics studio almost felt like a monastery, and as a result my style of writing and my choice of pen had to fit. All this writing was turned into an authentic handwritten script font with over 150 ligatures, which make it look very credible and spontaneous. The font is especially suitable for personalized 'handwritten' notes, cards and messages. It can be used on T-shirts and on shop-windows. It has an 'instant logo' quality, it can be used for tattoo-designs and it screams home-made everything. And in case you are a writer you now have an option to print your work in a way that seems as if you wrote it yourself. Please note that even though the font comes with a complete set of Western characters, accents and special signs, the Cyrillic and Greek characters that are in the font do not make a complete set.

Johnny is the latest addition to the long line of popular psychedelic/hippy/funky art nouveau fonts representing the retro side of the Canada Type library. It is the digitization of a popular 1969 Phil Martin typeface that was known by two different names: Harem and Margit. The film type version had plenty of irregularities and quirks that made it seem like it was done in a hurry. In this digital version the errors have been corrected and the character set expanded to include international characters with built-in alternates, to be on par with what today's layout artists expect from a high quality font. This font saw a lot of use on record sleeves and music posters throughout the pre-disco part of the 1970s, which makes it a veteran of both the psychedelic and funk periods. This makes it the sharper, sturdier art nouveau contemporary personality of Canada Type's Tomato font. The four weight semi-condensed Bartholemé family came into existence as a family expansion based on the designer's earlier concept, Bartholemé Open. This hybrid family was inspired by and loosely based on a number of contemporary mid-twentieth century type concepts having Old Face or Modern influence. Those inspirational type designs were primarily designed for various proprietary photolettering technologies of the time. The award-winning* Bartholemé Open and its companion design Bartholemé small capital open were inspired by various Shaded, Inline and Handtooled type models from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Most of those inspirational type designs were designed as titling fonts with all capital sets only. To set it apart from the earlier models, Bartholemé Open is semi-condensed intentionally designed with a lowercase. Design qualities include a large x- height, tightly curved ample counters, crisp serifs and tight bracketing. The overall plan of the family was originally intended for display usage in titling and short passages of text. At higher output resolutions all fonts read well at smaller point sizes. The Bartholemé family works well on its own, but also is compatible with type styles possessing qualities that complement or enhance its own. The Bartholemé family consists of a Regular weight complementing a Bold weight, along with Medium complementing an Extra Bold weight. Martin Wilke’s underrated yet influential deco classic from 1932 has both feet firmly planted in the high traditions of Western European calligraphy while carefully and subtly introducing some traits from the sweeping geometric/minimalist vision of the time. In a way, it was one of the representatives of the European anti-type typefaces of that era, when print media was searching for the elusive aesthetic balance between humanism and geometry. This typeface enjoyed some popularity in Germany for a few years, and went on to influence further type designs in Holland and Italy. After the second World War, the black hole that swallowed a big chunk of Europe’s print culture, new influences and technologies overtook the scene, and selective historical emphasis ensued, highlighting some of the era’s designs and overlooking others. Further selective picking in the digital era all but buried Wilke’s body of work - unfairly so, because he was just as important in German type history as Bernhard, Post, Schneidler, Tiemann and Trump. The original metal Wilke Kursiv came in one weight. This digital version goes a long way in expanding on that original offering. Now Wilke’s masterpiece comes in three weights, and with a full Pro treatment including swash caps, small capitals, five types of figures, automatic fractions, and plenty of other OpenType niceties. Each of the Wilke Kursiv Pro fonts comes with over 700 characters, and contains support for most Latin-based languages. Also available are three non-Pro fonts in each weight.

Whether with pen on paper, or in digital, realistically connecting vertical handwriting is never an easy task to accomplish. After working with many handwriting fonts, and after intently dissecting so many different handwritings, one tends to expect such things to be quirky, disconnected, and almost never upright. In fact, in spite of vertical handwriting’s academically-sung virtues of rationality, efficiency, clarity and logic, very few people manage to deviate from the natural slant when writing. Even fewer manage to make the vertical handwriting connect and keep its natural flow. Calligraphy and upright cursive aside, it is almost impossible to make a vertical letters connect and maintain a real handwriting appearance. This is where the genius of this design comes in to bridge the gap between upright handwriting and calligraphy. The HWT American Chromatic set is a multilayered font set that will allow for thousands of possible color and pattern combinations. The original 19th Century Chromatic upon which this font set is based included two fonts. The HWT digital version includes eight. Cosmic Sans was my first font ever created for a school project. The class I made this font for was my Advanced Typography and was a semester project. I really couldn't think of a title for this font, until one of my good friends said, "Why don't you name it Cosmic Sans?" I searched the internet for any other fonts with that name, and sure enough there wasn't. Thus the name stuck. This font is more or less a display font, thus every secondary character was not created. I hope you enjoy this font and much as I have while creating it!

Monotype’s hot metal Bell series from 1931 was based on original types made by the punchcutter Richard Austin for the foundry of John Bell in the 1780s. The different sizes of Monotype’s series were not all based on the same model. As type historian James Mosley wrote on Typophile, “For 18 point and above (the metal type was cut in sizes up to 36 point) Monotype’s model was a larger type [than the model used for the text sizes], the ‘Great Primer’ cut by Austin. This has greater contrast in the capitals and a flat foot to letter a.” The digital Bell closely follows the design of the hot metal 18pt version, and is therefore somewhat lighter in color than the text sizes of Monotype’s original metal face. With all our love for the original font family, it felt there was a lack of functionality, character composition, features, and design freshness, which prompted us to the idea of a complete restart. Now TT Octosquares can be safely called a superfamily consisting of 4 widths (Compressed, Condensed, Standard, Expanded), 72 faces (18 in each width), and 1 incredible variable font in which variability works jointly on three axes. In addition to working on the contours themselves and their design, we completely revised the composition of the typeface. First, we added two completely new widths: Compressed and Expanded. Secondly, we increased the number of weights in each of the subfamilies—while in the old versions there were 5 weights, now in each of the subfamilies there are 9 weights. At the stage of working with the contours of characters, we revised the roundings, changed the forms of shoulder and stem crossings, added noticeable shelves at the letters, removed the sharpness from the triangular characters and cut off all sharp endings. From the very beginning of work on TT Octosquares, we planned to make a variable 3-axis version of it sewn into 1 font file. This means that by installing just one variable font file, you get access to three axial adjustment of the font: by thickness, width and inclination.
