Gelion is a large family of geometric sans serif fonts. It ships both as two Variable Fonts or as 16 traditional fonts. Those static fonts span eight different weights, ranging from Extralight to Black. Each has an upright and an italic font on offer. The italics are carefully crafted, with an 8° slope. Gelion is inspired by 20th-century geometric sans serifs and classic neo-grotesque designs from the late 19th century and the middle of the 20th century. Its forms remain true to the gracefully geometric look of its classic predecessors, which will surely tick off any client’s long list of branding requirements. Letters in all of Gelion’s weights are drawn with virtually monolinear strokes. Its lowercase letters have a tall x-height. Yet, that still leaves enough room for the fonts’ diacritical marks. Gelion’s default “a” and “g” each have single-storey forms by default. The dots on the ‘i’, ‘j’, and diacritics are round, as are the punctuation marks. TT Octosquares useful links: Specimen | Graphic presentation | Customization options TT Octosquares is a fresh, revised, expanded, and significantly improved version of our first commercial typeface TT Squares and its narrow version TT Squares Condensed. With all our love for the original font family, it felt there was a lack of functionality, character composition, features, and design freshness, which prompted us to the idea of a complete restart. Now TT Octosquares can be safely called a superfamily consisting of 4 widths (Compressed, Condensed, Standard, Expanded), 72 faces (18 in each width), and 1 incredible variable font in which variability works jointly on three axes. In addition to working on the contours themselves and their design, we completely revised the composition of the typeface. First, we added two completely new widths: Compressed and Expanded. Secondly, we increased the number of weights in each of the subfamilies—while in the old versions there were 5 weights, now in each of the subfamilies there are 9 weights. At the stage of working with the contours of characters, we revised the roundings, changed the forms of shoulder and stem crossings, added noticeable shelves at the letters, removed the sharpness from the triangular characters and cut off all sharp endings. From the very beginning of work on TT Octosquares, we planned to make a variable 3-axis version of it sewn into 1 font file. This means that by installing just one variable font file, you get access to three axial adjustment of the font: by thickness, width and inclination. Thanks to this flexibility in settings, you can always choose a custom combination of thickness, width or inclination that best suits your tasks. Due to the increased language support and the appearance of a bunch of useful OpenType features, the number of glyphs in the typeface has increased from 480 to 825 in each style. Dignus was inspired in two clever and famous typefaces: Bank Gothic and Microgramma. Bank Gothic designed by Morris Fuller Benton for ATF in 1930. Microgramma typeface designed by Alessandro Butti and Aldo Novarese for Nebiolo in 1952. Those typefaces were based on a stable rectangular shape with rounded corners, denoting the constructivist heritage and technological spirit of '50. We'd intended to review that typographic scenery with our contemporary point of view, aiming to obtain the formal synthesis of the signs and increase its legibility. Every time I bring my youngest son to his swimming lessons, I need to show my Covid Vaccination Pass; a QR code on my phone. I thought that I would be off the hook after I showed it the first time, but no, not at the swimming pool! It feels a bit like a bad comic book, so I decided to name this comic book style font Identity Check. Of course, I should have called it Covid Vaccination Check, but that is just too much and it probably won’t sell. Who wants a font called Covid?? ;-) Identity Check is a comic book style font. My father used to be an international truck driver and he often had to go to Eastern Europe. He took all kinds of ‘western’ goods with him to give away (plastic bags, beer, cigarettes - remember, Eastern Europe at the time was still communist!). He always came back with bottles of Slivowitz. I never tasted it, as I was too young, but I liked the name and I decided to name this font after a fond memory! Slivowitz is an easy-going handwritten script font - it looks good on fashion items, book covers and fancy magazines, but greeting cards will look just as great. When I released Halogen, I asked ‘Who doesn't want or need an expansive contemporary extended sans that has a sense of style and swagger… what if it had a lowercase, small caps and various numeral options… how could you say no?’ Go, click on the Halogen link and read on, if you're interested. Halogen was well-received, so I decided to take it further with Halogen Flare (the name kinda tips you off as to what kind of typeface it is, don't ya think?). As always, I prefer not to take short cuts and provide an anemic offering of glyphs — a modern typeface offered today must provide more than just the basics and this one does — lowercase, smallcaps, old style numerals, tabular forms, stylistic and titling alternates, fractions, case-sensitive features, and even an alternate uppercase ordinal set is included. Arzachel is a humanistic sanserif with a big x-height and a specific organic look. Its design is scientifically sharp and efficient in small type sizes as well as rugged and dramatic in headlines. The stroke contrast is low in the regular weight while it increases in the black; finally the capitals have an inscriptional flavor. Despite being a sanserif (thus a product of recent typography) Arzachel’s roots stretch back to the Renaissance tradition: Olocco took inspiration from some of the early and rather weird types cut in Venice in the 15th century. Arzachel was conceived during Olocco’s MA in Reading to provide a companion for his Zenon for use in small type sizes. But instead of expanding the Zenon family with optical sizes, the designer decided on a sans with its own personality rather than a sanserif version of Zenon with chopped-off serifs.

Bushing is a quick serif experiment going for open light display type. For years I have always stopped and really liked what I saw with fonts like the original Cushing from the turn of the 20th century. This time the desire for a font was stirred by Felici's article in CreativePro on fonts from the beginning of the 20th century, especially his captures of Cushing No. 2 and the version commissioned for Norwood press from ATF. I'm not interested in historically accurate reconstructions. My desire is for the general feel I get when I see a font. As a result, Bushing has little to do with Cushing (other than the last six letters). But it is a Serif font with small serifs and a huge x-height with a very open feel. I like it. I hope you do also. I made it into a limited display version of OpenType Pro. I added small caps and oldstyle figures, as I can hardly work without them. But ligatures seemed silly for this one.
