Gryffensee is designed to be the Futura of blackletter, combining the time-honored gravity and relentlessness of the Gothic script with the clean, contemporary freshness of the geometric sans. Built from a tightly controlled inventory of lines, arcs, sharp cuts, and OpenType features, Gryffensee was born and raised in the digital age, yet retains the powerful charisma and human warmth of its mediaeval blackletter ancestors. As a result, it excels in a wide range of display settings, logotypes, and short text. Unlike most conventional blackletters, it even handles all-caps usage with grace, and includes an extensive Cyrillic character set (in the Pro version). Apart from a generous range of automatic ligatures and contextual alternates, Gryffensee offers stylistic alternates that allow users to customize its appearance to their tastes. My intention to devise a contemporary geometric blackletter was inspired by four hand-painted letters, |ABCD|, in Sasha Prood�s online portfolio. I later found out that he had, in turn, taken those letters from an existing font, Bastard, by Jonathan Barnbrook. Luckily, by that time my project had taken on a life of its own. Gryffensee is an original design that bears only the most superficial resemblance to Bastard. Gryffensee is a mediaeval spelling of the lake Greifensee near which I grew up. It is pronounced [?gri?f?n?se?], or "GRIEF-un-say" in English approximation. This font is dedicated to Simone.

Adelphi is a geometric sans, redefined for the northern side of the English Channel. Typographic modernism was a late arrival in Britain — due partly to the Second World War and to the strong local type tradition. This delay provided for fruitful divergence, thus modernism was not adored in quite the same way as it had been in Germany and central Europe. It was instead rethought and repurposed against the backdrop of the bleak British weather and postwar social reform – a continental fashion statement reshaped into a more humanist variant. Likewise, when crafting Adelphi, Nick Job reimagined the constraints that defined the geometric sans as a genre. Whereas other typefaces seem overly bound by the rules, Adelphi feels relaxed and approachable. Elementary square and circular shapes are merely implied. A keen observer may notice that the uncomplicated letterforms occasionally reveal a subtle naïveté associated with early Grotesques. Brunel’s bridges and Harry Beck’s tube map spring to mind alongside the Bauhaus and Futura. But Adelphi is by no means nostalgic! It is a contemporary, comprehensive, and durable system with a pragmatic set of features. These include a wide array of weights, ‘uniwidth italics’, and variable extenders that go from tall and flat in Adelphi Text to short and sharp in Adelphi Display, with default Adelphi standing midway between these two extremes. You can set the extenders to your preference in the all-inclusive variable font or use one of the three static fonts that come packed together, priced as a single font. The pan-European support for Latin, Cyrillic and Greek scripts already makes for a vast character set, but Adelphi takes things a step further by including alternate glyphs to satisfy the DIN1450 legibility norm, a range of ordinals that can be used to create specialist compositions in all three scripts and two kinds of fractions and arrows. “Nusaibah” is the first name of an early convert woman to Islam, and the first female to fight in defense of the Islamic religion. Her full name is Nusaibah bint Kaíab Al-Maziniyyah and she took part in the Battles of Uhud, Hunain, Yamama and the Treaty of Hudaibiyah with Islam’s prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Nusaibah is best known for her brave and heroic feat during the Battle of Uhud - fought on March 19, 625 - when she entered the battle carrying a sword and a shield to protect the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from the arrows of the enemy, and she accordingly received several wounds while fighting and these wounds were not healed until the following year. The prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mentioned her distinct courage by saying that in whichever direction he turned in the battlefield, he could see her defending and protecting him. "Nusaibah" is a modern, geometric, and headline Arabic display typeface. In 1459, while visiting his dying mother, Italian painter Piero della Francesca spent seven days creating a fresco of a pregnant madonna in a small country church in the hilltown of Monterchi (Italy). Victorian Orchid is a gorgeous vintage flower. Victorian Orchid is a beautiful, organic serif font family available for both text and display. Its bizarre serifs for A and other diagonal letterforms came from decorative types and letterings in old Victorian era. The Scaffoldini Family provides four different isometric perspectives and is suitable in use in science, engineering and sci-fi themed projects or however you see fit. The lines are formed by bubbles (or circle bricks in Fontstruct) and appear smoother the smaller the size of the type. These are not straight line segments and the gylphs will appear bubbly (scalloped edges) at larger size. Please be aware of this feature of the font before you purchase.

Straight Line is essentially an outline Modern, but drawn without any curves whatsoever. Thin horizontals and thick verticals provide the classic look of a Didone, updated and enhanced by clean, minimalist geometry. In addition to the Straight Line font itself, the package includes Straight Line Solid with matching spacing and kerning. The Solid font can be used solo, or layered with the outline font to provide a colour background. Straight Line is an excellent display face for contemporary, eye-catching headings and sub-headings, and the fonts contain a full complement of Latin Extended-A characters. The typeface was inspired by a 1930s experimental alphabet by the British artist, Percy J Smith.

Market Street Neon is an all-caps condensed display font constructed with two rounded-end strokes; the lowercase set is included as a repeat of the uppercase to make setting type just that little bit easier. I designed this font to be a little bit more “San Francisco” (hence the name of the font), with a contemporary and upscale feeling. It’s intended for use in larger sizes of type, upwards of 48 pt. Market Street Neon is perfect for a design that wants to imitate neon—use it in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator or Corel with color & blend effects, and its geometry also lends itself well to simple color for signage, packaging, posters etc. that will pop.

A modern humanist sans serif made for the screen. Broad open letter forms are combined with precise geometry to create a functional and legible font that’s ideally suited to the web and on-screen applications. To reinforce readability and create more distinction at small point sizes serif like details have been drawn into uppercase ‘I’, ‘J’ and lowercase ‘i’ and ‘j’. The geometry of Paul Renner’s sans letterforms was tempered by optical correction to follow earlier typeface proportions, with capitals close to old-style forms, yet still retaining the spirit of the New Typography. His early experimental characters were included as alternatives in the sans which was to become the Futura released by Bauer in 1927–30. Unusually, old style figures also appeared in his early versions but they too were soon discarded. Foundry Architype Renner as a new four weight family has been developed from the original Renner Regular and Bold, created by The Foundry for the first Architype Collections in the early 1990s. This new family features the old style figures and the experimental elements.

In 1978 I went to work at Mergenthaler as a letter drawer. Being an inquisitive sort I decided that I should take a stab at this type design 'stuff'. I drew 25 or 30 glyphs before the work found its way to a high shelf in a dark corner of my apartment. Just 23 years later I found the drawings on a different shelf, in a different home, in a different city and decided to finish what I had started. I'm still trying to deal with my predisposition toward procrastination but I've finished the font. The name of the font is the last name of somebody I played softball with before I moved to Beantown. Ronnie Geis was one of the courageous firefighters we lost on September 11th when the WTC collapsed.
