Fort Courage JNL is a bold slab serif wood type in the French Clarendon genre, taking its name as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the cavalry fort populated by a number of post-Civil War misfits in the 1960s television comedy "F Troop".

“9 Garcons...Un Cœur” (“9 Boys...One Heart”) is a 1948 French musical starring Edith Piaf. The hand lettered credits for the film are done in a condensed Art Deco sans alphabet, now available digitally as Stage Show JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

A French lettering chapbook from the 1920s, entitled "Art du Tracé Rationnel de la Lettre," provided the inspiration for this decidedly Deco exercise in alternative letterforms. Both flavors of this font feature the 1252 Latin, 1250 Central European, 1254 Turkish and 1257 Baltic character sets.

WildSong was inspired by the exuberant flight and beautiful song of birds. While most brush scripts take their cue from mid-twentieth century samples, WildSong is a fresh, contemporary alternative. WildSong reflects a dynamic interplay between dark and light, creating a sense of drama while hinting at a calligraphic background. Words suggest a baseline, yet are not bound by it. Letters interweave in a seemingly random dance, sometimes connecting smoothly, then breaking that connection as a calligraphic scribe does intuitively. Exuberant swash alternatives to uppercase letters, as well as ligatures can be accessed through both the type and glyph palettes. The font contains over 235 characters - (upper and lower case characters, punctuation, numerals, symbols and accented characters are present). 16th and 17th century formal handwriting forms the basis for Tinderbox, an antique script. Machin is a French word meaning 'thing'. Apparently, it is also a species of macaque from the Philippines, but I named this font after the French word! Machin is based on a really old font I made back in the day. It was called Whynot and (because I didn't know a thing about making fonts at the time) I could not get it to work properly, so it had its 15 minutes of fame before it was pulled off of the internet. Machin was made using the recycled glyphs from Whynot and it does work. It comes with extensive language support (yes, Vietnamese and Sami too), some handy ligatures and a lot of scribbly panache.
