The new font “The Best We Could Do” was created by artist and author Thi Bui who used the font in the graphic novel by the same name. Based on the 1922 Klingspor model by German designer Rudolf Koch, this hand-drawn quill roman has an informal and curiously delicate appearance. The typeface was known in Germany as Koch Antiqua and in the rest of Europe as Locarno. Eve, as it was called in the United States, continues to enjoy great popularity in advertising and book publishing circles. Munky, a big bowl full of slab serif goodness. It's got a cheeky, playful look with large, heavy serifs. Its shapes have a few kinks here and there. I would say that adds to its charm—and it does. It's great for headlines and titles but is also very legible in sentence case. It works great for branding and packaging, books, invitations and anything where you want a laid-back vibe—without being too childish. If the font were a celebrity, it would be more John Candy than John Malkovich.

A cast iron plaque from Bristol Temple Meads Station serves as inspiration for this antique font. The plaque commemorates the design contribution of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who in March 1833 at only 27 was appointed chief engineer of the Great Western Railway, the line that links London to Bristol. This helped establish Brunel as one of the world’s leading engineers. Impressive achievements along the route include viaducts at Hanwell and Chippenham, Maidenhead Bridge, Box Tunnel and Bristol Temple Meads Station. Ironbridge evokes industrial heritage, gothic spookiness or eroded heavy metal.

This family was inspired from a lot of 1848-1850 French engraved documents reproducing handwritten texts talking about the Paris' insurrection days in June 1848 (described by Victor Hugo in Les misérables) . It seems that all were first written using quill pens, as the strokes are too much heavy and bold for metal pens and even though the engraver work is very fine. We have added only a few characters, most of them were present in the originals. The TTF and OTF versions are enriched with more than 50 ligatures or alternate characters.

The Algerian designer Taouffik Semmad created the fonts in 1997. Taouffik Semmad grew up speaking Algerian-Arabic dialect and French, studied Russian, and is now living in Montreal. This could perhaps explain his current passion, to "find a universal writing", which he admits is a Utopian idea. Eurotypo BKL is a family of fonts inspired in on one of the most beautiful British Typography ever done. This version of Baskerville tries to reflect the taste of his fine style, compatible with the bluntness of the digital present. I don’t think I’m a capricious person, but right now, due to the enormous amount of renovation work on our home, I do get bad moods quite often! Capricious is a hand painted all-caps font: I used my favourite Chinese ink, a brush and very rough paper to get the desired ‘eroded’ effect. It is quite a heavy display font, so I wouldn’t really set a text in it, but it works really well for headlines, catching titles and products that need some pepper!
