When the original Aaux was introduced in 2002, I intended to go back and expand the family to offer more versatility. You may be familiar with a caps and small caps type called Cruickshank. In Germany the same face was called Eureka. We took the small caps, which are not so overblown as the caps, and designed a lowercase to harmonize with it.
