At one time or another, everyone has filled out a job application. Jobseeker JNL emulates a hand-printed alphabet and numerals as one would find on such forms, but it is also useful for any project where a simple handwritten block print is needed.

False Idol is based on bad rub-down lettering from 1970s pornographic magazines and home-made religious leaflets. The letterforms were intended to mimic a feeling of cheap glamour but just became seedy. Somehow an alluring beauty emerges from this mix of sleaze and chic...

Footloose was a work in progress when its original designer, my friend and colleague Bob Alonso, passed away. Back then just 14 lowercase letters were designed so far. Several years have since gone by, but lately I took on the task of developing Bob’s design into a full-fledged font. The distinctive style of his supplied letterforms provided much inspiration. In blocks of short text there is a dynamic that communicates much verve and vigor, owing in part to gracefully curving lines and high contrast of stroke weight. I guess you could say that this project has been a sort of “passing on of the baton”; and I trust that Bob would have been pleased with the outcome.

Coleface was created by the British typographer Roy Cole, completed shortly before his death in 2012. It comprises six fonts: Coleface 30, 60, 90 and the italics 33, 66, 99. As with his earlier typeface families - Lina, Zeta and Colophon - Coleface is a highly-readable sans serif typeface that offers significant flexibility in terms of its potential uses. Roy Cole studied typographic design under the tutelage of Emil Ruder at the Gewerbeschule in Basel, at a time when typographic history was being made through the creation of a style that epitomized modernity. Consequently the principles of order, simplicity and legibility, fused with experimentation, became a hallmark of his practice, as exemplified in his last font Coleface.

The design of Arundel Sans was inspired by Arundel Castle in West Sussex, England. It has a strong vertical emphasis, with a solid, geometric feel. It is a quirky mix of medieval and modern. Arundel Sans is ideal for use as a distinctive headline or display font.

Raspail is a contemporary calligraphic font inspired by copperplate. Raspail has a great inclination with extensions of ascending and descenders strokes, widely ornate, and a special emphasis on the connection of the letters. It includes more than 350 alternates, 50 ligatures and a great set of ornaments.

Cuckoo Fat was first seen in 1988 when I painted it on a record shop's window. Since then this hand lettered font has been there and done that. Cuckoo Fat is a loud and proud, classic and informal display font designed to work well on any job.

This was a favorite of job printers in late Victorian times. They used it on cards and stationery, as well as small handbills. It was made in a range of sizes from 10 point to 36 point. Good for places where you really don't want to shout.

BistroScript is a contemporary calligraphic script inspired by promotional art in the 1960s. Thanks to OpenType features, a variety of ligatures and alternative glyphs allow the user to create more authentic and varied connections between letters. Springfield is a narrow, western-style display face from Bob McGrath. The design recalls wood types that were popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but which also found resonance during the 1970s. Use Springfield to liven up otherwise dull headline and logo projects.

Despite being drawn digitally, Angeletta is a typeface in the hand-lettering tradition. It draws on designer Rob Leuschke's three decades of experience with pen and ink, including his time creating scripts for Hallmark Cards. Spontaneous and energetic, Angeletta is satisfyingly inky – with strokes almost spilling into one another. Its quirky personality and titling version makes it a good choice for packaging and social expression, while its distinctive character could work well in branding, perhaps paired with a more sedate sans serif. Gutter Pigeon is not your every-day Ransom-kind-of-font! The prices of making it was really simple: I only used my phone and computer. I took pictures of letter from newspapers, magazines, bookcovers, candybars, movieposters, roadsigns, etc. In the beginning, It was easy to find new letters. But as I had the initial letters, it became quite a search for the missing letters. Not a hard job, you may think - but this font has 8 different versions of each letter! That's 26 lowercase glyphs and 26 uppercase glyphs...8 times! That's more than 400 glyphs! And on top of that comes numbers and punctuation! Go crazy with Gutter Pigeon! Actually, that is not very hard, because the font automatically cycles through the 8 different versions of each letter while you type! Upper- and lowercase in a wild mix!

30s inspired geometric inline display typeface Several titling typefaces made their appearance at the start of the 20th century, notably Acier and Bifur, both created by French poster artist Cassandre. Later, in the Netherlands, S.H. de Roos designed a version of Inline for its Nobel family called, naturally, Nobel Inline. AW Conqueror Inline pays homage to this beautiful version. Because of the geometric basis of its forms, Memphis is often thought of as a font for technical fields, making a rational, purposeful impression. This emphasis on objectivity is well-suited to technical texts, but Memphis is appropriate for any text which should exhibit a clear, neutral character.
