The cover of the 1929 sheet music from the First National/Vitaphone picture “The Girl from Woolworth’s” had its title (“Someone”) hand lettered. This single word title was the model for Store Clerk JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions as well as solid and solid oblique versions (without an inline). A bold, casual sans serif with rounded ends and an inline, Store Clerk JNL is perfectly suited for projects where a strong, yet playful title is necessary to grab the reader’s attention. For those old enough to remember, Woolworth’s was a leading “Five and Dime” store chain, especially in the days when a nickel or a dime actually could purchase something.

Regina-Cursiv is a warm, bold, casual typeface. Its friendly, rounded curves remind me of the line from a gospel song by the Canton Spirituals, about "smoothin' up the roughway." Jointly released by the Bauer and Berthold foundries of Germany during the fin-de-siecle period, this typeface has some cultural flexibility. There are alternate versions of the uppercase ‘H’ and ‘I’ that can be chosen to reflect a humanist or blackletter tradition, whichever you prefer. Other alternates offer various stylistic choices. Straits is an oddball fun ALL-CAPS font, a modern take / re-imagining of some old Art Deco signage and a sister to my other font Penang. The font is available in 2 weights for now, a light and a medium. In general I think ALL-CAPS steal 26 characters from you, so each letter in each case is a little different, however subtly. This being an ALL-CAPS font I imagine it will work best in Headlines and other bold statements, but buy it and find out. The font is loaded with plenty of extras and glyphs. This was designed to be fun, so I hope you can have some with it.

The Navigator family is inspired by the early explorers, the early sailors with their old-style tattoos and the cowboys in the old west. I mashed up these to styles to create the Navigator display family. It has a vintage feel with a more modern day approach. Use the regular styles to give your artwork a more clean look and feel or the rough styles to take on the more vintage old-style. This family is great for display use on posters, packaging, editorial and logos. It is created with the designer in mind to have some fun and mix up some great looking Upper / Lower case combinations. The Navigator hand font is an informal, rounded sans-serif that works perfectly with the Navigator display fonts to create beautiful logo and type lockups.

This beautiful old design was originated at the Connor Foundry, New York, about 1888. Ideal for the small "in between" lines in modern versions of Victorian job printing.

Fnord is a contemporary humanist serif typeface, it is ideally suited for display purposes, titling, headline copy and branding. The family has been designed to be highly versatile, containing a total of 23 fonts. Each font features discretionary ligatures, swash alternates and true small caps. The overall design is clean and simple with a little bit of rebelliousness thrown in for good measure – Fnord does not conform to the traditional serif blueprint. Fnord’s design has been strongly influenced by the complex, thought-provoking and mischievous works of authors Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea from the 1970s. I was re-reading their work while sketching the initial letterforms and realised that some of the proportions and angles were coinciding with some themes that run through the books – particularly the numbers 5, 17, 23, 40 and 93, which are key to this font family’s spacing and geometry. I found it both very interesting and enjoyable to play with a specific theme and purpose for creating this typeface. I am sure you will enjoy working with it in your own design projects. The engraver Jean Jannon ranks among the significant representatives of French typography of the first half of the 17th century. From 1610 he worked in the printing office of the Calvinist Academy in Sedan, where he was awarded the title "Imprimeur de son Excellence et de l'Academie Sédanoise". He began working on his own alphabet in 1615, so that he would not have to order type for his printing office from Paris, Holland and Germany, which at that time was rather difficult. The other reason was that not only the existing type faces, but also the respective punches were rapidly wearing out. Their restoration was extremely painstaking, not to mention the fact that the result would have been just a poor shadow of the original elegance. Thus a new type face came into existence, standing on a traditional basis, but with a life-giving sparkle from its creator. In 1621 Jannon published a Roman type face and italics, derived from the shapes of Garamond's type faces. As late as the start of the 20th century Jannon's type face was mistakenly called Garamond, because it looked like that type face at first sight. Jannon's Early Baroque Roman type face, however, differs from Garamond in contrast and in having grander forms. Jannon's italics rank among the most successful italics of all time – they are brilliantly cut and elegant.

Alimentary (adjective): relating to nourishment or sustenance. If you've seen my other fonts, you know I tend to lean into food-based names. This name has to do with food and science combined, so it's double nerdy in the ways I like to be nerdy! I started with Alimentary Medium, which was inspired by my shorter, wider font MacGuffin - I wanted something taller, narrower, with a hip and retro feel. When I finished the Medium weight, I felt like I wanted a Light weight. Then a Heavy weight. Then I figured, "what the heck," and made an outline version of the Medium weight too. In the end, I wound up with four members of the Alimentary family, each with over 700 glyphs! Not only do they all have the basics (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and tons of punctuation), but they also each have 330 characters for European language support, and a limited selection of Greek, Coptic, and Cyrillic characters. Plus a double handful of alternates and ligatures to add a little variety to your designs! And of course, all of the Alimentary fonts are super-smoothed, with reduced nodes and clean curves, so whether you're cutting them out, printing them, engraving them, or using them in a way I haven't even thought of, these fonts will be sharp and crisp!

Full of life Hispanic Didot in 2 optical sizes Retiro is a daring interpretation of Spanish typography. Severe, austere and yet, full of life, Retiro is a vernacular version of Castilian and Andalusian in a typical Didot. Named after a lovely park in Madrid, Retiro started life as a a bespoke typeface designed to give a unique voice to the magazine Madriz. In 2006, the founder of Madriz was looking for a Didot for his new magazine. The Didot is the archetypal typeface used in high-end magazines. Retiro is a synthesis of these high contrast styles mixed with an Hispanic mind. Result is then, after 2-3 years of work, a typeface with countless variations to establish typographic shades adapted to different sections and pages of the Madriz. In 2014, it was necessary to further revise the typeface before its launch at Typofonderie. In order to keep its originality, the unique weight was retained, but complemented with optical size variants to set highly contrasted headlines into various sizes, visually balanced. How to use Retiro optical sizes? Each font provided in Retiro family is named according to the scale of body size: 24 pt and 64 pt. Of course, these names are referring to the body sizes used in typographic design. In the “glorious old days,” the letterpress period, it was customary to cut punches directly to the size at which typefaces would be used. The punchcutter had to visually adapt his design to the engraving size. The aim was to optimize the best contrast and general weight, but also to respect both design’s and reader’s needs. In Retiro’s case, intended for large titling sizes, it’s an adaptation of this ancient practice for our contemporary uses. Although each font is named by a typographic point size, do not feel obliged to use this font at this precise size, but why not, in larger or smaller. It’s rather the concept of gradients that must be preserved in layouts, rather than strictly size numbers. It’s up to the designer to select the right font size for his own designs. In October 2010 I released a font called “Zanoix” It was based upon a an old horror movie poster. I looked through and old folder, and found the font that served as a base for this the grungy font. Zonaix is opposite to Zanoix, because it is super clean, pointy and is made entirely of straight lines! With the sharp pointed serifs and whacky lines, it is a good choice for a legible seriffed font - not necessarily for anything scary!

Cala is a reflection of Venetian Renaissance types but with a contemporary look. It has an energetic profile, achieved through soft outlines and a flowing rhythm. It is lively, remains stable in small sizes and is beautiful in display sizes. Cala comes in eight styles, in OpenType format and with extended language support. Created in 2009 by V.H. Fleisher, Monod Brun is a geometric sans-serif typeface. The font has OpenType features that can be accessed in programs like the Adobe Creative Suite. Ellida is a very elaborate and elegant script in the tradition of the 18th-century English calligrapher George Bickham and the 19th-century American calligrapher Platt Rogers Spencer. I really enjoyed designing this script and maybe one day I will add starting and ending letters. Doing this script was extremely time- and brain-consuming, it is a huge challenge to make calligraphic letters work on computers so that they join perfectly. That's also the reason that this has become my most expensive font so far, but I think the price is fair for the incredible amount of work I put into the script.
