Mark Stanczyk designed Linotype Typo American in 1999. The font is an excellent revival of American style typewriter type. As most of us can remember from our childhood years, or through old stories and movies, everyone used to type with typewriters before the invention of computers. Unlike computers, most individual typewriters only had one typestyle, or font, to chose from. To make matters worse, the letters in a typewriter font would wear down with use. Over time, text typed out on a typewriter would look more and more corroded, old, and uneven. Stanczyk has captured exactly these features in this “revival” font! Also like most older typewriter styles, Linotype Typo American’s letters are all mono-spaced, i.e., the letter i is the same width as the letter w. Typewriter letters also all tended to be cast in the same size, around 12 points or so. When using typewriter-style fonts, it is best to keep setting your text in similar sizes. (Of course, you can set really large and fun headlines with Linotype Typo American, too; if anything the unevenness of the design will come even more across in these applications.)

Meet Haggis! Inspired by the Insular Half-Uncial and Uncial typefaces that have long been associated with Scotland, Ireland, and their Celtic cousins, Haggis is an unusual creature. Baraka - in Swahili - a blessing. It is a simple, block-like typeface closed in cuboids. It was created and designed in Tanzania, Africa. It contains 183 gliphs, which due to their simplicity, which consisted in cutting out letters from rectangles using as little light as possible, makes an impression and is in fact a very heavy display typeface. It was created primarily for posters and labels, where thanks to its modularity and form enclosed in a limited geometric figure

With Redtab I tried to create a typeface that could be used equally well in either in body copy, or in headline form. I like to think that, although it has a more traditional look to it, it still possesses a bit of a creative flourish that sets it apart from similarly designed fonts. Whether used sparingly or in paragraph form, Redtab has the ability to not only read well, but stand out while doing so.

Designed primarily for display use, Tangient is serviceable down to the larger text sizes. It presents an idiosyncratic profile, with a tight fit, clearly proportionally spaced, yet having the texture of a monospaced design. Its shapes leap out from the page, where well behaved characters would make a more subdued statement. The calligraphy from which Tangient GD was electronically "cut" originally appeared in a series of personal greeting cards prepared by the Zafaranas in celebration of the New Year.

JP2 has some special roots being inspired by the actual handwriting of Pope John Paul II. Franciszek Otto took this source material and transformed it into a high quality font. The result is a rough, but intelligent, design with letters that slightly bounce along the baseline to mimic typical writing.
