For over 30 years, Tomás Vellvé created beautiful graphics and distinctive typefaces in his native homeland of Spain. Rodia is an Oddball Geometric Sans Typeface consisting of nine weights in both roman and oblique. It’s a geometric sans with a twist that’s perfect for branding and identity projects – it will also give your body text a unique voice. Inspiration came from the iconic “RADIO” signage that was once in place at 5041, Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles in 1985 (documented at https://tinyurl.com/y2krt2ox). With its distinctive leg, the /R/ provides a personality trait to define the style of the character set. You can clearly see how this characteristic separates Rodia from other geometric sans families – the /k/v/w/x/y/K/R/V/W/X/Y/ glyphs all display the distinctive ‘feet’ and ‘hands’ as terminals to legs and arms. Kake’s upper case letters are inspired by a hand-painted sign outside a temple in Ubud, Bali. The rest of the font is made to fit the style. The hand-made aesthetic is increased by the implementation of contextual alternates, which automatically swap glyphs to alternate forms to avoid the monotony of repeating letters. The amount of variations for each glyph is dependent on letter frequency in English; there are more a’s and e’s than q’s and j’s. Even with only two variations of some glyphs, the programming makes sure that no two matching glyphs are ever next to eachother, and for the most part they will rarely be even two letters apart. This all makes for type that looks like it isn't type. The glyphs bounce and subtly change weight with willful abandon. Some of the letters on that original sign are somewhat quirky. If you're not a fan you can engage stylistic alternates or stylistic sets to change the C, G, S, Y, c, s and y glyphs to a less idiosyncratic form. These variations still have variations themselves, so with contextual alternates on, they will look as random as all the rest. Case sensitive forms and automatic fractions are included, as are 98 ornaments, ranging from the useful to the (let’s just say) esoteric. These can be accessed from the glyph palette. I know you've probably never realized you need an anchor, a fuel pump, skull and crossbones and chess symbols in the same font before, but that doesn't mean you don't! Kake is full on display typography. It’s legible for small blocks of copy but don't go setting essays in it. Unless you really want to... in which case, go for it.

The Vale Press was a contemporary of Willam Morris's Kelmscott Press. The types used by the Vale Press were designed by artist Charles Ricketts, who also supervised the design and printing of Vale Press books. The King's Fount was designed in 1903 for the Vale edition of the 15h century poem "The Kingis Quair". This semi-uncial font evokes old English and Anglo-Saxon lettering. I've started looking at classic serifs with a narrow 80's & 90's range, and wanted to make the perfect one for you too! VONESA Minimalist is a beautiful nostalgic upper and lower case typography that looks amazing in upper and lower case settings as Display, Logo and body text. One thing to note about VONESA Minimalist is that the letter spacing is intentionally set for clean readability if you want to use it for body types, so I recommend setting the spacing a bit tighter for display use (around -20 to -40 should be!). Niccolo Niccoli (1364-1437) was a wealthy bibliophile and an acclaimed scribe, in Florence (Italy). He was one of the most important Italian calligrapher in this early time of rediscovering Roman script. Of rare accomplishment was his adaptation of the so called Italian humanistic minuscule script. We were inspired from his late work to create this present Font. We have added a lot of accented and other characters (U/V, I/J...) who was not existing in the original and replacing "long s" by a small "s" for a modern use. The OTF encoding was used for intelligent alternates, permitting to use different forms of the same lower case or capital in a single word, reproducing easily the charming variety of a real manual scripture.
