My personal handwriting has changed a number of times over the years. Just Another Hand is a narrow brush drawn handwriting font, inspired very loosely by the handwriting of my high school days. There's a little artistic license taken with Just Another Hand in the sense that while I never really wrote with a brush in high school, I wanted a cleaner stroke for this interpretation. After release of Wood Bonnet Antique No.7 some of my clients asked for a sans serif version. So I printed my second batch of old wood type. In 1978 I went to work at Mergenthaler as a letter drawer. Being an inquisitive sort I decided that I should take a stab at this type design 'stuff'. I drew 25 or 30 glyphs before the work found its way to a high shelf in a dark corner of my apartment. Just 23 years later I found the drawings on a different shelf, in a different home, in a different city and decided to finish what I had started. I'm still trying to deal with my predisposition toward procrastination but I've finished the font. The name of the font is the last name of somebody I played softball with before I moved to Beantown. Ronnie Geis was one of the courageous firefighters we lost on September 11th when the WTC collapsed.

DF Pigtail is the result of a curious marriage of the 'free'-form of writing with the fixed (mono) space for each character of the typewriter typeface. In the early sixties of the last century, typewriter typography became popular as a Fluxus vocabulary. The Fluxus art movement (in fact a Dada like follow up) which encouraged a do it yourself aesthetic, and valued simplicity over complexity and anti commercialism over the conventional market-driven approach. I was educated in the mid seventies when this form of typography was still very popular and was even applied in corporate design. This particular letter has been used by my teacher Jan Begeer to compose his design assignments. Recently I rediscovered this type and was struck by its pigtail similarity and drew it my way.

Now here's a font that is named Like Butterflies, but has got nothing to do with butterflies! What? Why? Well, I recently heard the song "Even flow" by Pearl Jam and took a trip down memory lane - back to my early twenties. I remember how the lyrics affected me, and had an impact on how my life changed the years to follow. Maybe the style of the font does not reflect the inner meaning of the song, but it does reflect a look back in time for me - and the change that took place. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the somewhat simple, handmade style of Like Butterflies and the 4 versions that works very well together! Compilation Grotesk is a variable font concept that includes 9 sort of adjustable heights inspired principally on Matterhorn Headliners 2. The "height" axis allowes the glyphs expand along the Y-axis upward from the baseline as the values increases from 700 to 1100. Due to it, the system adapts keeping the contrast and the original proportions. Don't stretch it out, just adjust it!

Toyprint JNL is based on scanned print samples of a toy rubber stamp set imported from Japan circa the 1930s. No kerning and a very limited character set, but fun and nostalgic nonetheless. NOTE: Large size rendering of the type will give the appearance of cut paper rather than rubber stamp impressions due to the nature of the scans for this font.

Gaius is a beautiful script face with a nice relationship between the broad-edged pen and the proportions of the letterforms. It is very flexible and gives a personal touch due to its various alternate fonts with swash beginners, ending and ligature letterforms. Like Zapfino from Hermann Zapf, Gaius offers a great variety and makes the text more personal and readable.

Cast Shadow JNL uses the same wood type as found in Trade Printer JNL and adds to it a cast shadow in right or left versions for a bold and unique look. Both fonts have limited character sets and should be used in point sizes larger than normally chosen to compensate for the visual discrepancy due to the cast shadow's effects.

Borba is light, fresh and friendly at first glace. It's simple, modern and elegant due to its monoline and minimalistic form. It is really readable which makes it perfect for long texts but it looks great in titles and short sentences as well. To sum up, borba is a universal typeface which may be used whenever you need a stylish and modern typography.

Bucanera Soft is a clean modern blackletter designed especially considering its readability. Due to its soft edges, Bucanera Soft leaves the traditional look of aggressive and hard blackletters and allows to find a more friendly appearance in a wide range of applications. Bucanera Soft was selected as a winner in the 3rd Communication Arts Magazine Typography Contest in Typeface Design category, 2013 issue.

Winterberry (Ilex verticillata) is a species of holly, native to the USA and Canada. I thought it was a rather cool name (pun intended) for a messy script font made during a cold spell. Winterberry was created using Chinese ink and a crappy brush - hence its messy appearance. Use Winterberry on your alt-Christmas invitations, your fantasy novels, your rock albums or your website! You’ll love it! Comes with a bunch of diacritics and some ripe double letter ligatures as well.

Pincoya Black Pro is a font based on lettering found on a poster from the Spanish Civil War, complemented with graphics developed in “La Unidad Popular” (Chilean political coalition) during the seventies. Pincoya has many alternate characters in Opentype format that provide multiple options when composing a text. It is an ideal font for high impact sentences, logotypes, magazine layouts, poster designs, etc. Languages include: Basic Latin, Western European, Euro, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish, Central European, Romanian and Pan Africa Latin.

Steve Jackaman. In the early 1980's, Steve worked at Typographic House in Boston, Massachusetts. At the time, 'Typo' House, as it was affectionately known, was the largest type house in New England. This font was designed and produced during his tenure. The design was so popular that it became available commercially through VGC, and was known as TH Alphabet Soup. Completely redrawn and remastered, Alphabet Soup Pro contains all the high-end features expected in a quality OpenType Pro font.

Franz Fiebiger (1880 - 1932) was an Austrian painter and designer who was associated with the Vienna Secession. In 1908 he created a beautiful poster for the Kaiserjubiläums Möbel Ausstellung - a furniture exhibition during the Kaiser's Jubilee. Fiebiger Zwei (meaning Fiebiger Two) is the second font based on one of the hand made typefaces gracing this poster. As I had to work with only a few glyphs, I designed the missing ones myself. François Boltana was a French prolific lettering artist during the late 20th Century. He created the Stilla typeface in 1973. Stilla is a cursive “Fat Face”-style design, reminiscent of the first large advertising and display types produced in the wake of the successful Bodoni, Didot, and Walbaum text faces. Because of this pedigree, Stilla is the perfect headline choice for applications that look back to the 19th century. Stilla could also be used for very short headlines or big logos.

Nogoom was inspired by the titles of Egyptian Magazine ALOSTUDIO, which used to be published during the 50s-60s. The typeface is part of Arsheef Alkhatt Project, a platform that revives and tributes classical Arabic lettering from different resources and presents them as affordable, digital fonts for independent designers. Nogoom means stars in Arabic, hence the name. Note: The font uses an Opentype feature for the connections that are not supported by MyFonts tester, but it works properly with all Adobe CS softwares.

Odenburgh is a Medieval-style calligraphy typeface. Hand-drawn by Måns Grebäck during 2018-2020, this high-quality lettering is inspired by historical Gaelic, British and Irish handwriting. It comes as a regular, clean style as well as the additional Odenburgh Deco style. The typeface is perfect for calligraphic headlines, products and logotypes in Middle Ages projects. Popular music of the early 1900s included a genre called two step; round dances utilizing a sliding step with a tempo in either march or polka time. 1911's "Daughters of the American Revolution" was one such march/two step. The cover of the sheet music had the title hand lettered in a slightly rounded sans serif type design in the Art Nouveau style popular during that era. It is now available as Two Step Nouveau JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

This humanistic sans serif design was inspired by a conversation that David Quay had with renowned type designer Hans Meyer, during ATypI in Paris, 1989. Meyer revealed that Sabon, designed by Jan Tschichold, was the inspiration behind his Syntax font. This approach formed the basis for the design development of The Foundry's very first sans serif typeface family; the inspiration for Foundry Sans comes from Stempel Garamond. Foundry Sans was the second typeface to be released for The Foundry typeface library in 1990.

JY Décennie has been designed for both the web and print. Essentially applying the principles of newspaper typefaces, attention has been paid to the Windows versions of the family to ensure clarity when used in web browsers. It was originally conceived with an Australian broadsheet newspaper in mind, and ultimately launched to commemorate JY&A’s 10th anniversary. The design itself is based on Australian and New Zealand wood type, which was used widely by European settlers during the nineteenth century.

First cut by Lanston Monotype, the Goudy Modern font family was based on designs used by French engravers during the eighteenth century. Although called a modern it possesses a number of old style characteristics. Capitals are much shorter than the ascenders, serifs are fully bracketed and round shapes have a slight stress. The overall weight of Monotype Goudy Modern is on the heavy side, giving good emphasis in display sizes but it is not too heavy for use in text.

Two Cents Plain JNL is a simple sans design for titling, sign work, display ads and so forth. The name is derived from the way folks in the Northeast used to ask for a glass of seltzer water at restaurants and soda fountains decades ago: "Give me a two cents plain." It was always cheaper to order plain seltzer than to have flavored syrup added, and this was especially true in the years during the Great Depression when every penny made a difference.

During the investigation of the infamous murders in Whitechapel, police received several letters allegedly from Jack the Ripper. Of the hundreds received, the so-called, “Dear Boss” letter actually included some details of a crime that had yet to be committed. Soon after, the information in this letter would be corroborated at a crime scene. This font was inspired by the handwriting in that letter. It includes dozens of European characters…and just might be the writing of Jack himself!

Canovaro was inspired by the hand-lettered masthead of Queenslander, a weekly magazine published during the first half of XIX century. The condensed serif letterforms of the magazine title, with the warm, human touch gave the shapes of Quenta a lively personality and a literary charme. To let you experiment with his vintage decorative layers, it comes in 4 styles including discretionary ligatures to allow you to use script elements to enrich its expressive range for editorial and logo design.

Minora is a contemporary sans serif type family of three weights. Glyphs with open, plain and reduced forms are attributes of Minora. Several OpenType features allow different figure sets, fractions and more. Minora had its beginning in 2007 during Alex Meier’s Typedesign study (CAS Typedesign) at the ZHdK in Zurich (Switzerland). After graduation, Alex Meier continued working on this project in a shared studio with his former fellow student Dominique Kerber . He completed this fully developed font in April 2011.

Hs Alwajd is an Arabic display typeface, under “titles” category. It is useful for book titles, creative designs and modern logos. Also, it is used when a contemporary and simple look is desired that can fit with the characteristics of Kufi fatmic where horizontal parts are equal than vertical ones. It is a new style based on HS Almajd but without swirling round forms terminating in ball. The font is based on Kufi Fatmic calligraphy along with some derived ideas of decorative fonts, maintaining the beauty of the Arabic font and its fixed rates. Undoubtedly, the insertion of curved ornament in some parts adds more beauty and fascinating diversity in the flow line between sharp, soft and curved parts. Mainsail is a handwritten brush script font. It is casually written with dry brush pen, so it has this nice texture and flow. Mainsail has lots of alternates to make it look more like real handwriting; four sets of lower cases and two sets of upper cases. Mainsail is great option for logos, headlines and packaging. You can also use it in longer texts where you need this casual handwritten look. It will also combine well with sans and serif fonts. Mainsail has OpenType features that automatically makes text look more authentic. Discretionary Ligatures replaces other of two identical letters following each other. Contextual Alternates will unleash the full cycle of the alternates. It will cycle all four lower case sets to make the text look as natural as possible. Mainsail has also underline strokes in separate font called Mainsail Swash. It includes combined 52 different underlines, strokes and circles. With these you can add the final punch to your design.

Grand Slam is based on an old cardwriting style known as Poster Gothic. This dynamic letterstyle was used in the heyday of the Hollywood movie poster because of its powerful and snappy appeal. The face is of uniform thickness and made as wide as possible without interfering with legibility. Its vertical strokes seem to be thickened slightly where normal serifs would be. It is interesting to note that another group of tiny little serifs populate the entire design. Grand Slam comes with a complete set of alternates including small caps and small figures. A lowercase has been added for greater versatility. Grand Slam is now available in the OpenType format. In addition to small caps, lining figures, oldstyle figures, petite lining figures, and swashes, this expanded OpenType version contains some new stylistic alternates. These advanced features work in current versions of Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.
