I wanted to make a font that resembles that feeling of not really knowing what you get served, but you got a feeling that it is something good! The font has got 6 different versions of each letter, and they automatically changes as you type - it makes your text organic and lively, and probably quite tasty too! :) "Soup Du Jour" is also a well-known quote from one of my favourite movies: "Dumb and dumber"

100.000 years ago years ago, a group of mad scientists from the far away planet ZyrXX, encountered the earth and just waited to conquer the planet. Their masterplan was to use electronic brain waves to manipulate our minds. Sounds cheesy and comic, right? Well, that is the true story about this font. The font was built using a grid (hence the name!) and all I had in mind, was a mixture of old sci-fi movies and computer graphics from the 80ies. I did my best to recall and re-create this - I will let you be the judge to decide whether I succeeded! :)

YomTov is a whimsical hebrew font. Traditional in design with a free spirit and slightly bounced. Hebrew alphabets contain 22 Hebrew letters along with five final letters which are automatically activated when used in Applications such as Apple Pages® and MicroSoft Word®. The Hebrew Letters do not contain cantillation marks very much used in everyday modern Hebrew. Designed with acomplete latin font that mirror the Hebrew letterforms. Let me tell you a secret: This font has got absolutely nothing to do with nougat or France. I just love nougat, and I actually ate some while finishing this font! My wife is a good at making cakes, and lucky for me is that she too adores nougat - that way I often get delicious cakes with nougat :) Well, back to the font - a handmade rounded sans-serif, comic, organic, all-purpose with a playful attitude. The ten font Turbinado™ Set was designed to be clear and easy to read with a friendly personality, ideal for advertising and packaging in both text and display settings. Included are three weights of brushed casual script, each with a dry version, two condensed all caps faces, another hand printed caps face and an Elements package with 100 brushed elements that include swashes, botanicals, shells, arrows, repeatable patterns and a few other doodads that play well with the fonts. Like our most recent release Fave, all of the fonts use the OpenType standard ligature feature to automatically differentiate consecutive lowercase letters and numbers, using separate glyphs rather than a single ligature so they can be set on a curve or colored separately, etc. They also automatically differentiate like characters that are separated by another letter when standard ligatures is enabled. The final collection in the series of 4 fonts. Each font contains 37 expertly drawn panels. All you have to do is add your own text and color for a quick and easy design. All 37 of these panels are exclusive to Letterhead Fonts. Typing each letter generates a different panel. Special Note: Due to the large file size of these fonts, they will not convert for use in Gerber Omega. Instead, Omega users may wish to use an alternate program to type the characters and import them into Omega as .eps files. CorelDraw users should use the "Weld" command rather than "Convert to Curves" command to convert these fonts to vector outlines. Otherwise, the program may crash due to the sheer number of points in each panel.

Wood Type Catalogs of the 19th century often offered tools and accessories alongside alphabets of wood type. Probably the most closely related was wood type borders and ornaments. Decorative Borders were often sold by the foot and accompanied by corner pieces that matched the designs. These borders could be assembled in almost any size dimensions as needed. The digital version uses the same principals of modular assembly to create the exact size border that is needed. Along with the borders, included in this font are a selection of "streamers". These banners would have been made to order with the font designs reversed out along a horizontal banner with decorative end caps. The digital version allows for a modular assembly by selecting choice of end caps and then typing the = as many times as needed to achieve the desired length. 10 styles of 9 piece borders can be created in any size variations as well as 8 styles of streamers in any desired length. Some of the designs can be mixed and matched for unusual contemporary design interpretations of these historic styles. It is recommended that the line height (leading) is set to the same size as the point size setting, this will visually lock all elements together.

The advantage of this is that if letter spacing is increased or decreased, the letter combinations aren’t fixed and can move too, which helps the space between letters to remain even. However, for lovers of ligatures there is still a bucketload of goodies to play with, including the obligatory ‘OO’ ligature. a, g, k and y It was a forensic examination by Jason Smith of his existing designs that laid the groundwork for FS Jack. Jason made a list of unique characteristics that would give the sans serif font its typographic thumbprint, which included an unusually large x-height and slightly off-the-wall letters like the lower-case “a”, “g”, “k” and “y”. “I wanted to make something that was slightly uncomfortable,” says Jason, “and in doing so simplify the quirkiness down to a few letters.” Fernando Mello did “the rest of the cooking”, filling the design out and making the additional weights. Tipos Latinos Upon its release in 2010, FS Jack was submitted by Fernando, who is Brazilian, for the esteemed type design biennial, Tipos Latinos, where it was selected as a winner in the Families category. It went on to be selected for type exhibitions throughout Latin America and around the world. “FS Jack is a workhorse,” says Fernando, “but also very ownable and distinctive, and available in a good range of weights, crafted by Jason and I.” Corporate “FS Jack took a couple of years to get noticed and is still fairly underused,” says Jason, “which is good in a way, for our Brandfont clients that have adopted it.” FS Jack was chosen as the signature font for The Shard in London, from its signage down to business cards. Fontsmith also worked with Lloyds Bank to customise FS Jack into a bespoke font for the bank’s updated brand identity – part of Fontsmith’s Brandfont service, which you can read about here. Fat Jack Included in the FS Jack family – just – is FS Jack Poster, the super-heavy weight of the range. “That was a last minute addition,” says Fernando, “after Jason and I started talking about how much we liked Gill KO, a typeface that is almost comically fat.”

Any typeface has two intrinsic elements that does´t work at the same levels, form and appearance. These peculiar visual behavior generate a wide range of graphics games. At reading level, we observe a uniform gray spot, but large bodies allows us to appreciate their shapes and counterforms. Milio takes this duality to offer unparalleled service in newsprint and magazine publishing, specially in small bodies but hard and formal cogency in titling. Its wide variety of weights, 10 in total, together with a slight condensation allows us to save space without losing legibility, even under poor printing conditions. Its basic quasi humanistic forms include support for a wide range of details that give great originality and strength. A friendly appearance, but a strong, all-road typeface with internal forms that reinforced visibility in small sizes thanks to its high average eye and the contrast that generates its soft curved external and internal squared angles. The nuances here are fundamental and explain its powerful large sizes, where you can see these contrasts between the curved, organic, humanistic, and straight, angled, almost mechanical shapes. Milio has the bonus of a large multilingual support for all alphabets based on the Latin and Cyrillic, as well as large Opentype features for expert users, among which we have true small caps, ligatures and automatic contextual alternates. Several sets of numerals for use on tables and other “delicatessen” as fractions are also included. Having in mind the daily struggle in newspaper and magazines´ edition, Milio has been designed with the idea of being Cinta´s perfect couple, a similar contrast and proportion typographic san serif family produced by the same Foundry as Milio, to cover almost all the graphic needs in actual DTP.

Now even more design possibilities with the popular DIN Next. With its technical and neutral character, DIN Next has earned a permanent place in contemporary typography. Now, DIN Next Slab expands the font family further, offering new design potential. Now comes the next step, DIN Next Slab, also produced under the direction of Akira Kobayashi. On a team with Sandra Winter and Tom Grace, Kobayashi is creating the new font variant based on the optimized shapes of DIN Next. The expansion will make the popular font all the more flexible and versatile. Apart from that, the geometric slab serifs underline the technical and formal nature of the font and emphasize a central design element of DIN Next. However, the team did have some challenges to overcome. While it is relatively easy to imagine DIN Next Light with slab serifs, the amount of available space quickly disappears when it comes to the Black styles. Winter explains that many tests and trials were necessary to find a compromise between space, letters and the serif shapes. Experiments with modified contrast in the weight or only one-sided serifs were quickly abandoned. The central, technical and powerful character of the font changed too much. Nevertheless, it was necessary to simplify slightly the shape of some letters, such as the ‘k’ or ‘x’, for example. These changes, first developed in the Black styles, were applied to all weights in order to lend the font a consistent appearance. Like DIN Next, DIN Next Slab also has seven weights, which cover the range from Ultralight to Black, each with matching italic. There are various character sets in all of the styles and the four middle weights have small capitals available. DIN Next Slab harmonizes perfectly with the styles of DIN Next: the basic letterforms and weights are identical. Both versions of the font can work together perfectly, not just in headlines and body text, but also within a text; they complement each other very well as design variations. With the new DIN Next Slab, Monotype expands the DIN Next super family consistently. With DIN Next Slab, you can underscore the technical and formal nature of the understated font not only in headlines, but in texts, as well. In this way, you have new and diverse potential for application, thanks to the way the different styles of DIN Next combine perfectly.

Dom Casual and Dom Diagonal are a set of informal script typefaces that look like brush writing. They were designed by Peter Dombrezian for American Type Founders in 1952 and were an immediate success. Use these typefaces to create a friendly, informal look in signs, advertising, and invitations.

Sign Stencil JNL was modeled from some vintage lettering stencils spotted in an online auction that were part of a store sign making kit. A variety of styles, sizes and designs were contained within a carrying case along with paints, brushes and instructions on how to paint attractive signs.

I was playing around with computer style forms, and suddenly noticed an optical effect in this style. There you go!
