This is a complex typographic system which includes three different but complementary styles so far: Slab, italic and script, with nine weights each one; plus three sets of ornamental fonts: labels, negative labels and ornaments. The soul of the family is a slab feeling applied judiciously to the italic and script styles to make it coherent with the whole system. Each style has three sets of figures: Proportional lining, tabular lining and old style. You can mix the three styles in a single piece to obtain more expressive results without worring about the uniformity and complementing the design by using the ornamental sets.

Pragmatik is a carefully crafted Square Sans by Christopher Stahl, awarded with a Commendation at the Art Director's Club Germany Junior Competition 2011 and selected as Font of the Week 42.2011 by Typolution.de. The design is influenced by the heritage of German industrial typesets like DIN, yet the use of forms and proportions feels modern and fresh. Ottocento is an elegant chancery cursive, derived from XIXth century Italian calligraphy. Slightly inclined and with a fast and marked ductus, this font is well balanced between thick and thin strokes and shows marked ascendings and descendings.
 Ottocento is rich in stylistic variations with its elaborated upper cases, and stylistically different in traits and different ligatures are considered to make the most of the many OpenType features.

The “XXII Totenkult” is inspired by the classical letterforms of old roman/renaissance typefaces and an ode to the decay. This is an allCapitals-font and the lowercase glyphs contain a variation of the uppercase. Lebensjoy was used by the Co-op chain stores in Sweden for a nationwide fortnightly flyer (called Livsgldje = Joy of Life) during 1993 and 1994. They wanted a simple but still lively and active letterform.

In English folklore (in particular that of Yorkshire and Lancashire), Grindylow is a creature that dwells in rivers and lakes and is said to grab children who come too close to the water’s edge and drown them. It is thought the name Grindylow may be connected to the monster Grendel. Grindylow font does not grab children; it is a rather messy handmade brush font. I used a cheap brush and Chinese ink to create the glyphs. Comes with discretionary double letter ligatures for the lower case.

Linotype Merlin is part of the Take Type Library, which features the winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest from 1994 to 1997. This font was designed by Anne Boskamp and its alphabet consists exclusively of capital letters. At the same time aggressive and sensitive, Merlin looks as though it were scratched onto paper with a pen tip saturated with ink. Like characters from another time, the letters fall into place and make an impression which is both vulnerable and strong, lively and reserved. Merlin’s historical roots lie in the archaic pictograms in the caves of Stone Age civilizations.

A personal handwriting done in pencil. Conté Script is a computer font but has the extraordinary look of handwriting. The typeface is exceedingly lively, diversified and distinct thanks to more than 300 different ligatures, i.e. letter combinations. In addition to the letter combinations in Conté Script, there are also double letters and figures included (aa, ff, AA, MM, 22, 66…) as ligatures with stylistic alternates. Type set in Conté Script appears remarkably similar to a text actually handwritten with a pencil. The typical style of the pencil — crumbliness where pressure lessens and the deep darkness where the pressure of the graphite in it's fullest denseness smudges — is another earmark of Conté Script. The font appears to be written quickly, fleetingly, casually, as if not really to be taken seriously, and as if it would be written one minute and erased the next. Conté Script looks most ”authentic“ around the point size of 18 to 22.

Pargrid is a grid-based typographic experiment from the young Swiss designer Michael Parson. In the Pargrid family, which contains three separate weights, Parson has created an intriguing system of small circles-similar to LED's or light bulbs-that live separately on a grid, creating unique letterforms. In small sizes, these circles blend together to create seemingly fluid lines, giving Pargrid's letters a wide, rectangular appearance. This set of initial decorated letters is an entirely original creation, drawn inspired by Italian renaissance patterns. It contains two roman alphabets : one drawn in white on black background and the other in black on white. We have included a few fleurons and decorative elements. Shortly after the creation of Chauncy Deluxxe, Chank realized that he needed a condensed font to go with the regular version of his handwriting. The solution was Coffeedance, a fun, light, dancing, dandy handmade font. Makes me think of frozen treats as the lines wiggle a bit like they’re shivering. Brrrr. Coffeedance was Chank’s Font of the Month for November 1998.
