Compacta is the work of Fred Lambert and is reminiscent of the extremely narrow, sans serif stencilled fonts of the 1920s, then intended as titles or headlines for magazines and posters. The characters of all cuts are narrow and the space between letters is very small. The white spaces between strokes are perceived almost as only small white stripes and dots which stand out from the black bands of the lines of text. Compacta is not meant for longer texts but is impressive in titles and headlines.

Arinar is a well modulated, rounded, humanist sans serif font family based on Brinar. A distant ancestor the basic letterforms is Minister (a Dutch bible font of the 19th century) through my first font, Diaconia. There are many OpenType features with over 600 characters: Caps, lower case, small caps, ligatures, discretionary ligatures, swashes, small cap figures, old style figures, numerators, denominators, accent characters (including CE), ordinal numbers (1st-infinity: lining and oldstyle), and so on. This is Solotype's alternative sans serif version of the once popular caps-only font Atlanta issued by the Central Type Foundry in St. Louis in 1885. As we often do, we have created a lowercase, adding to its versatility.

Mode is a typographic experiment exploring how same sans serif form adapts to different circumstances and what are the possibilities in variations of Thin / Black, Contrast / Negative contrast. Two main groups are Mode 0 (with rounded shapes) and Mode 1 (with angular shapes). Each of them varies from Thin to Black in six cuts, in the same manner it varies from contrast shapes to negative contrast. A set of slab serif framed capitals is displayed in the 1906 edition of the Keystone Type Foundry specimen book as “John Alden Initials”. Digitally redrawn as Keyden Drop Caps JNL, regular and reverse versions are available in one font file. Upper case keys contain the regular version, lower case keys have the reverse version. Blanks frames for each are on the parenthesis keys. The font’s name is a hybrid of both ‘Keystone’ and ‘Alden’. These vintage letters can easily be used as drop caps, monogram initials or for short novelty titles or headlines. Choose from either regular or oblique for your next print project.
