Newsletter has a computer-related impression but is more legible and aesthetic than real monospaced fonts are. Since 2006 Newsletter is the corporate font of the design agency "die Typonauten". Voilà, the Meister Antiqua font family, which was originally released by Typoart, Dresden, circa 1951, is again available as a remastered, modernized and digitized version, with swash caps integrated in the Italics.

Probably one of the most unusual applications of a stencil took place in 1964 when Union Carbide [then-owner of the still-new line of "Glad" brand plastic wrap and storage bags] sponsored a $100,000 contest to match up a stencil of their logo in order to win a prize. The magazine ad told of how one thousand lucky participants would win $100 by simply taking a die-cut stencil of the brand name to the store and overlaying it on the logo printed on the food wrap box to see if it aligned perfectly. The hand-lettered title proclaiming "match the stencil and win" was done in a casual sans design and reflected the cheerfulness of many typestyles found in ads during the late 50s and early 60s.

Southside Fizz is a cocktail (made with gin, lime, mint and soda). Southside Fizz font was based on a single word in a 1930’s advertisement and my Palembang font. I did not have that many glyphs to work with, so I made most of them up. Southside Fizz became a very elegant all caps Art Deco font, quite useful for wedding invitations, books and posters. It comes with a roaring amount of diacritics as well.

Millwright is a display typeface family inspired by spunky DIY attitude and Industrial era hardware… an exercise in rendering glyphs with a rudimentary, hand-cut flavour. Fady Lingers is a mispronunciation of that famous Italian cookie - nevertheless, there is nothing awkward or wrong with the font! It is handmade using a thin marker, leaving an uneven edge. I did spend some time cleaning up each letter, but was carefully observant to keep the original handmade and organic look. I've added 4 slightly different versions of each lowercase letter. and they automatically changes as you type - a really great way to make your design stand out as organic and lively!

Peter Kin-Fan Lo designed the award winning Linotype Ancient Chinese™ in 1997. It is a symbol font that contains 92 “portraits” of figures who look as if they could have populated ancient China. These portraits are black and white symbols, gathered together into a font. This symbol font may be used for any design piece dealing with history, China, Chinese restaurants, or Asian art. To clearly see all the details, these symbols should be used at larger point sizes.

This font is not a historical one, in spite of the fact that it was inspired by the Cancellaresca pattern (look at 1491 Cancellaresca and 1610 Cancellaresca). We have created this one as a fantasy script for a decorative use, like for invitation, greetings, menus, posters and so on...

Introduced by the font foundry C.E. Weber in 1951 and 1955, Delphin was designed by Georg Trump and cut by Egon Graf. Its lower case letters have a handwritten feel which contrasts nicely with the straighter, relatively small capitals. Delphin has a lyric character particularly suited for poetic texts.

Traditional stencil type faces have always projected images of strength, power, police, military or industry. The hand-lettered title card for 1951's "Detective Story" (directed by William Wyler) is a perfect example of this. A bold Roman letter style, it was the perfect inspiration for Detective Bureau JNL.

The title and credits for the 1951 Dick Powell and Rhonda Fleming film “Cry Danger” were hand lettered in a freehand brush lettering often seen on store signs and show cards. Serving as the model for Show Card Freehand JNL, this pleasant and casual typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions.
