Celadon is a Modern Calligraphic Script Font based on letters written with a pointed pen. Celadon is an elegant font with high contrast between thick and thin lines. Saffron Walden is a small market town in Essex, England. When I created my first ever connected script font, I decided that a 'flowery' name would be best (since that seems to be the most popular choice for connected fonts….). Saffron Walden is a fattish, inky brush font, with a slight tilt to the right. It would be perfect for book covers, magazines, headlines and posters, but could also be used for packaging. Comes with a bunch of ligatures and a heap of diacritics.

Calima is a humanist sans serif typeface available in six weights. The idea behind this family was simply to try to bring the spontaneity of an italic to an upright roman typeface. The result is a fresh and dynamic sans with clean shapes, well suited for short texts and display use. Dubbel Zout in Dutch means ‘Double Salt’. I admit, it sounds better in Dutch… Dubbel Zout is a kind of licorice which we (in Holland) love! Not many people actually like it, but I know of one addict in Denmark, who eats it by the bagful. Dubbel Zout is a ‘crayon-ish’ font - all caps, different upper and lower glyphs that you can mix and a royal assortment of diacritics. It may be an acquired taste, but once you get used to it, you’re hooked!

I have always loved gazing at the stars. Too bad that you don’t get to see a true starry night these days - mostly because of light pollution. Starlight Lovers is a messy serif. It is hand painted, using a brush and Chinese ink, so the edges may be a bit rough. In my opinion, this adds to the font’s character! Starlight Lovers is an ideal font for (Christmas) cards, book covers, posters and product packaging. Comes with a milky way of diacritics as well!

This is a geometric uncial font with a retro/art-deco feel. It comes in four weights, each in upright and oblique styles. It has Unicode coverage for Latin, Greek (modern diacritics only), and Cyrillic, plus the Euro and peace signs. This font began as part of a project to design a local currency. Sadly, the municipality canceled the endeavor before the design competition had started. I'm including one of the prototypes in the gallery section as an example of this font’s many uses.

Flagellum Dei is Latin for ‘The Scourge of God’. It is a title given by later generations to Attila the Hun (406-453 C.E.). Flagellum Dei is also a rather scary font, which I made with the use of a stiff brush and some China ink. Of course you could use this quite versatile font to scare the bejesus out of your friends, but I’d much rather see it used on book covers, posters and album artwork. Flagellum Dei comes with a horde of diacritics.

Mario De Libero designed Swanstone while investigating XIX Century Old Style typefaces. Designs like Theophile Beaudoire’s Romana (1860) or Miller & Richard’s Modernized Old Style, that re-imagined the classical “Venetian” letterforms adding flared serifs and early Art Nouveau influences. In Italy, one of these fonts was Raffaello Bertieri’s Raffaello, which De Libero used as the starting point of his research in a contemporary retelling of these exuberant and sexily unsettling letterforms.

The tale of Okiku Of The Nine Plates is an old Japanese story full of lust, deceit, murder and revenge. It tells of Okiku, a beautiful servant whose master lusts after her. After she refuses his amorous advances, he accuses her of stealing a costly plate and has her thrown down a well, where she dies. She then turns into an Onryō (a vengeful spirit). Okiku font is a thin, all caps, scratched typeface. Upper and lower case differ and can be interchanged. Okiku comes with an afterlife of diacritics.

The Three Degrees had a song called 'Dirty Ol' Man'; Christina Aguilera danced around to the tune of 'Dirrrty' and my three kids leave everything that way after they have finished their meals, so I guess I really had no other option than to call this font: Dirrrty. Dirrrty is a brush font I painted in one go. It is quite dynamic, with some serious grunge in it. Dirrrty is all caps, but upper and lower case differ and can be interchanged. Comes with with a truly disgusting amount of diacritics.

Greyfriars Kirkyard is the graveyard surrounding Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland. I needed a rather ‘English’ name for this hand drawn Baskerville, but I ended up with a Scottish one. Greyfriars font was hand drawn with a Japanese brush pen. It is based on Baskerville, a font I really like. The glyphs are a bit rough and jumpy, which adds to Greyfriars’ unique look. Use it for your titling, book covers and product packaging, or stick it in a website and see what happens! Comes with a jolly bundle of diacritics.

My kids have a tin box filled with crayon and pencil leftovers: bits and pieces that have fallen or broken off, but are still good enough to use. For me it is a treasure trove, as I often find a nice bit of crayon to use for a new font. In this case, I created Leftover Crayon. Leftover Crayon is a fat, crumbling and seriously eroded crayon font. Completely hand made, completely legible and full of character. Use it for your bedtime stories, product packaging and invitations. Comes filled to the brim with diacritics.

Sello is a hand-drawn, geometric sans-serif with a touch of retro style. It's a unicase typeface inspired by hand-engraved, mid-1960s Spanish postage stamps, hence the name "Sello" – Spanish for "stamp". This font comes in three different weights – light, regular, and bold – with a regular and oblique version of each for a total of 6 styles. Vowels have a special third alternate glyph. Sello also contains the necessary diacritics and special characters to support several different languages. Looks great at the slightly larger point sizes, when used in header or display purposes.

Zania is a display typeface. Its characteristic element is cutting in the stem that makes this font very memorable and easy to recognize. Contains stylistic alternates, ligatures, diacritics, and OpenType features that will help you make your project more unique. Has an experimental vibe and nice movement from left to the right thanks to serifs placed in the top left and bottom right part of the letter. It has smooth edges that make it look more friendly. A few fonts ago I mentioned the fact that I like posh English words; words you don’t really use in conversation. As I am busy expanding my ‘halloween’ font collection, I came across the beautiful word Nefarious. It means wicked or evil and when you say the word, it even sounds evil! Fantastic! Nefarious is a halloween/witches font. It looks like my Griezelig font, but it is rougher and spikier. Use Nefarious for your halloween invitations, posters and books about evil geniuses. Comes with all diacritics and a bunch of swashes as well.

This font is mainly inspired from the engraved characters of the small book known as “Operina”, or “The method and rules for writing cursive letters or chancery script” from the famous calligrapher Ludovico Vicentino Arrighi, published in Roma in 1522 and signed with simplicity “Ludovico Vicentino”. The font contains a large set of standard ligatures and alternative characters: two lower cases, four sets of standard capitals, long s and variants, titlings, each feature easy to use with OTF managing software. It is a pro font, containing Baltic, Eastern, Central, Western European and Turkish diacritics.

Created exclusively for an exhibition catalog for the exhibition 'Hail to the King, Baby!'. CA Hail to the King is based upon different letters taken from handmade signs from all over the world. You will find a lot of unexpected specials: irregular character sizes and styles (uppercase characters are bold; lowercase characters are in regular style) everything that makes CA Hail to the King so varied and unpredictable. In addition to west European diacritics an extensive central European character set were added including some very nice stylistic alternates.

Yummo is a geometric and somewhat condensed sans serif type family that can be used in a wide range of applications. The minimal glyphs that have been shaped superbly will give modern and contemporary impressions. At the same time, the rounded shape makes your typography softer and cuter. Yummo is not only a ‘geometric rounded font’ but also conveys humanness and loveliness as though the forms were handwritten. Xanthine… is a purine base found in most human body tissues. Yes, you can forget that. I don’t even know what it means, but I suddenly realised that I was running low on fonts with an ‘x’ in the name. Xanthine font is a messy brush: it is all caps, but upper and lower case mingle freely. It comes with a whole bunch of diacritics and some interesting ligatures as well. I have included a very handy shapez pack and a truckload of arrows - anything to make you happy…

Languedoc is a former province of France. Most of its territory lies in what is now the Occitanie region. My family and I love camping there and I figured I’d name a font after it! Languedoc is a beautiful and useful typeface: it is a handmade serif that is a bit rough around the edges, but very legible and fun to use. Because of its legibility, you could use it for texts, product packaging, cook books and whatever else you fancy. Comes with a royal amount of diacritics.

Orenji is the Japanese word for Orange: it is a phonetic translation of the English word. I was actually looking for a certain shade of orange (the color), when I stumbled upon this fun word. I already toyed with the idea of creating a font loosely based on my son Sam's handwriting and I figured Orenji would be a good name for it. Orenji is a fun, cute and extravagant font. It has some uniquely shaped glyphs, comes with a giggle and a hug and more diacritics than you can throw a banana at.

After watching a bunch of Danish series like Dicte, Bron and The Killing, I figured it would be nice to give my newest font a Danish name. It became Hyggelig. Hyggelig, like the Dutch word 'Gezellig', cannot be translated into English, but it means something like 'cosy'. And a 'cosy' font it is. Hyggelig is a very cute, very threedee-ish typeface. It works great in poster ads and as a display font. It comes with upper and lower case letters and a whole bunch of diacritics. Enjoy!

Motley Crew is my last font for 2016. It is quite a lively, quirky and a little bit scary typeface, which will give your designs a little more ‘joie de vivre’. It was made with a soft brush and Chinese ink. The splatter was added after I had painted the glyphs. I forgot to put away my laptop, which now looks like this font… Motley Crew wishes you all the best for the coming year - in a lot of languages, as it comes with a generous splatter of diacritics.

Currently, the STARSsoft NIKA font family is represented by two fonts - Bold & Bold Italic. The letters and numbers in the font are shown in such a way that there are no holes in the letters and the entire outline of the font consists of one closed line. The font has both a standard Latin set and an extended one. The font also has Cyrillic support. In addition to the Russian Cyrillic alphabet, the font has support for Ukrainian and Kazakh Cyrillic. In addition to standard character sets, the font has many additional letters with diacritics.

Cinnabar Brush is a font named after a mineral - mercury sulfide to be precise. I quite like the name and the color, so naming a font after it made sense. Cinnabar Brush is a very bold, very outspoken brush font. It is all caps, but upper and lower case glyphs differ and can be mixed. It is a bit on the heavy side, so I wouldn't set a text in it. Use Cinnabar Brush for posters, book covers, T-shirts and the like. Comes with a mother lode of diacritics.

Smiling Cat is a cute little font. It is an adaptation of and older font of mine: Harimau Dua. I have had many requests for a bold version of Harimau, so I started working on it, changed a few glyphs, redid the kerning and cleaned it up. Rather than adding it as an extra bold style to my existing font, I thought it’d be better to launch it as a new one. Smiling Cat is handmade, cute and quirky, it would be ideal for Children’s Book Covers. Comes with a litter of diacritics.
