In the 1949 Paramount comedy "My Friend Irma" (a film based on the popular radio series that introduced America to Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis), an opening gag set-up involving excavation work utilizes street barricades which inspired Work Crew Stencil JNL. Placed along the site, different advisories are stenciled upon barricades warning of the work in progress. The scatterbrained Irma (Marie Wilson) walks straight through the construction, oblivious as to what's going on around her and steps right into the open hole dug into the sidewalk (a scene she reprises in 1950's "My Friend Irma Goes West").

  28. Trippy Hippie JNL by Jeff Levine, $29.00
Don’t let the name “Trippy Hippie JNL” fool you. Although the type design fits well with the 1960s-70s hippie movement and the “love generation”, the design is actually straight out of a page from a vintage German lettering textbook entitled “50 Alphabete fur Technikur und Fachschulen” (loosely translated to “50 Alphabets for Technicians and Specialized Schools”). The novelty, free form shapes and stroke weights of this hand lettered alphabet fits well in creating 1920s period pieces or for designing a retro-inspired rock and roll concert poster. 31. Rhumba by Stiggy & Sands, $24.00
A Lost Art Deco Style Reborn and Multiplied Rhumba began as a digitization of a film typeface from LetterGraphics in the early 70's known as "Barrio Lined". Originally only a single typeface, represented by our Rhumba Lined style, it was fun and offered more diversity to expand out the styles of this gem. Playing off the stylings of fonts like Prisma, Rhumba fills in gaps between the various lines of the original to offer 3 alternate looks. The Rhumba family contains 382 characters per font. A comprehensive character map preview is at the end of the poster graphics collection.
  32. ArchiType by Archiness, $10.00
With the famous and much used Eurostile and Bank Gothic in my mind I wanted to design a mono-line font as simple and legible as possible. A square with rounded corners, i.e., the letter ‘o’ as its basis. From there on back to basics, so straights remained simple straights with 90° endings, whatever the angle. Numbers are monospaced. The result seems to be a pleasantly balanced and neutral font. Excellent for display purposes and surprisingly legible in even small sizes. This perhaps typical approach by an architect led to the name of the font: ArchiType.
  33. Burlesk Queen JNL by Jeff Levine, $29.00
Burlesk Queen JNL was inspired by the hand lettered title “Gypsy” on the sheet music for "Everything's Coming Up Roses" from the movie musical based on the autobiography of famed stripper Gypsy Rose Lee. With just four basic letters to work with [G,Y,P and S], a full character set was drawn from scratch. The design features bold spur serif characters on individual ‘marquees’ bordered with lights. Burlesk Queen One JNL is the original version with white characters on black panels, while Burlesk Queen Two JNL has those panels stripped away to provide black letters on a white background.
  34. Morning News by Wiescher Design, $39.50
Morning News is the sister font of Evening News which I designed some years ago for use with my local newspaper Abendzeitung. Morning News is an adaption, a little bit rounder, which gives the font a much softer touch. The general design dates back to the pre-Hitler era, the time when Germany had already lost the first World War and was taking a short deadly breath to start the second big war. Lets hope there will be a day when there will never be another war in Europe (or elsewhere!). Another new peaceful font by your pacifistic designer, Gert Wiescher.
  35. Dear Penpal Script by Giaimefontz, $6.00
This is a fully connected script font, not calligraphic, but entirely designed to follow handwritten cursive ligatures rules as teached in schools. In order to correctly visualize it, you have to enable OpenType features (Contextual Alternates, Discretionary Ligatures, Standard Ligatues and Kerning). Trying to write All Capitals will generate Block Letters writings, since cursive style doesn't allow more than the first uppercase per word, however this font is not meant to be a Block Letters font. Using specific type combinations will generate special glyphs. All of these features are intended to reproduce a classic schoolboy or schoolgirl notebook.
  36. Grotica by Runsell Type, $24.99
Grotica is a versatile geometric sans serif contains 7 weights from Thin to Bold. IIt's inspired by the beautiful logotype on old labels and by exploring the Retroica font we've created in 2020. With over 600 glyphs per style, Grotica supports around 150 languages in Latin and Cyrillic script. Grotica OpenType Features including alternate glyphs, fractions, contextual alternates, oldstyle and lining (proportional and tabular) numerals, numerators/denominators, superiors/inferiors, and a variety of symbols.
  37. Ingrid Mono by Jörg Schmitt, $35.00
The birth of the monospaced types dates back to the past. There was a need for the creation of typesets for typewriters. The difficulty was to align the different glyphs in the same width. This led to particular problems with letters like "M" and "l"; the former seemed to be squeezed into the same width of all letters and the second one appeared way too stretched. Despite - or perhaps because of - the impression of the typewriter it is still popular with Graphic Designers. The Ingrid Mono font family with a high range of glyphs and symbols has that special appearance.
  38. Worn Gothic by Baseline Fonts, $39.00
Worn Gothic, a typeface from the Grit History™ B family, creates rock solid text-- characters that are weathered, defined and strong, like the body of a gargoyle. Worn Gothic is rugged but legible, whose words stay firmly liquid, like dates stamped in concrete. Disjointed K legs create an unnerving look that makes you stare into the structure of the type. Oddities like this complement the integrity of its fluctuating strokes and consistent X-Height. It offers a few stylistic alternates to maintain readability at any size, in many languages. Worn Gothic offers full Greek character support as well as all punctuation.
  39. Brother Home by Letteralle, $18.00
Brother Home is a charming handwritten brush font that will bring an attractive feel to your designs. Brother Home includes 2 fonts : - Brother Home Regular: The main font with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, punctuation, and also multi-lingual support. - Brother Home Alternate: You can access alternative characters from the Regular weight via OpenType in your application, or you can also install this alternative weight. Brother Home Alternate will give you alternative characters, which will add a natural impression. That’s it! Please do let me know what you think, feel free to comment if there are issues or queries. Happy designing, Thank You!
  40. Concierge JNL by Jeff Levine, $29.00
On occasion, one type design's influence can result in a completely different end result. Take the hand lettering found on a 1920s piece of sheet music for the song "Let Me Call You Sweetheart". The simple sans with a few Art Nouveau-inspired characters started out as the basic design of Concierge JNL, but shortly after beginning the project, the lettering took on more of an Art Deco flavor. Add to this the many rounded-edge characters that have a bit of a techno look to it and the typeface takes on many different design characteristics.
