An interesting hand lettered example of Art Deco lettering (minus the letter ‘L’) was spotted on Pinterest and served as the inspiration for Deco Sketch JNL. Because there was no attribution as to the age or source of the alphabet, it can only be surmised that it was a scan from a 1930s or 1940s source. The original showed many of the irregularities of pen lettering, and had rounded terminals. The digital version has been redrawn more uniformly with flat terminals. Deco Sketch JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Supera Gothic is a design inspired by the early geometric and humanist typefaces of the 20th century. Its characters draw inspiration from Erbar Grotesk by Jakob Erbar and Johnston by Edward Johnston; hence, in heavier weights, the “f” and “t” bars are pointed which honor Erbar’s work, and Supera’s uppercases and numbers reflect Johnston’s proportions and features. This is a series that takes unfinished typefaces that were either previously ideated but not realized or were close to completion but left incomplete due to dissatisfaction with certain aspects, and brings them to completion. "Oorrnnoott" was originally a project named "Petitgothiquemignon" or "Sangoth". In the process of refining "Kropotokin", several ideas were incorporated into the design. Well, I say "incorporated," but it was designed on a whim, as usual. After all, it was started around 2005, and I don't usually leave notes or anything (which isn't the best habit), so I don't remember the emotions or thoughts behind its creation. Please consider this typeface as a very typical sans-serif font, as that is what I was aiming for when I excavated it this time. Please use it for body text, headlines, eye-catching designs, or whatever you like.
